50 Times People Came Across Something ‘Mildly Interesting’ And Just Had To Share It With Everyone (New Pics)
Not always do we want to squeeze the max out of the internet. Sometimes all we need is a calming scroll and some entertaining (but not triggering!) content. And sometimes it’s the mild kind of information that we seek.
In these cases, this corner of Reddit offers a perfect shelter. Known as “Mildly Interesting,” it’s a Reddit powerhouse boasting a mind-boggling 21.2M dedicated members. And it proves how something moderately interesting is all it takes to catch people’s tremendous interest.
Below we wrapped up a new batch of posts shared on the community, so scroll down. Also, make sure to check out our previous articles for more Mildly Interesting content here and here.
Bored Panda also reached out to Dr. Gleb Tsipursky, the best-selling author and CEO of Disaster Avoidance Experts who shared some interesting insights about staying curious and open to learning, as well as the benefits of it.

“Have you ever tried to learn something that you were bored by, and then found that nothing sticks?” Dr. Tsipursky wondered. “No wonder,” he added, “researchers find that curiosity helps improve our memory. That means if you want to have a good memory, it’s valuable to stay curious and open-minded.”

Moreover, Dr. Tsipursky, who’s the author of multiple best-selling books, including Leading Hybrid and Remote Teams (Intentional Insights, 2021), The Blindspots Between Us: How to Overcome Unconscious Cognitive Bias and Build Better Relationships (New Harbinger, 2020), argues that if you find yourself bored by a subject you are trying to learn something about, don’t force yourself to learn it.
On the other hand, it’s wise to first find something that makes you curious about it, and then learn it. “Curiosity is especially important as we age to keep a healthy mind. Curiosity can also help us make good decisions,” Dr. Tsipursky explained.

One cannot ignore the fact that we live in times when there is so much information that people often lose focus. Many people, especially young, experience a lack of attention and distractibility, as well as the inability to concentrate. When asked what are his thoughts about it, Dr. Tsipursky said that challenges with attention and focus come from a lack of mental fitness.
“People go to the gym to train their physical bodies, but our minds are just as important – if not more important – for our success in the modern world, due to the overabundance of information and the fact that most of us do knowledge work rather than physical labor,” Dr. Tsipursky explained.

So in order to improve your focus, Dr. Tsipursky argues, “it’s critical to pursue mental fitness by learning about how our minds can lead us in the wrong direction and practicing mental exercises to address these problems.”
We also asked whether some people are more naturally gifted with curiosity, to which Dr. Tsipursky explained that since one of the Big Five personality traits is openness to experience, the answer is yes. However, “all of us can learn to be more curious: genes are not destiny, they may explain only up to half of our mental abilities,” he concluded.

Load More Replies...I knew a circumciser once, but he was short sighted so he got the sack.
Had to have mine removed for medical reasons, Surgeon did a good job, I left a tip :)
I don't have the proper parts to fully weigh in on this conversation but I'll share this as he isn't able to do so. My Irish fiancé (ex fiancé? He passed nearly 10 years ago and I still don't know how to express that correctly) and his brothers feel strongly that Americans circumcise babies for aesthetic reasons much more often than for religious ones & I agree. I also agree that it's something that needs to be addressed in American culture. It makes very little sense to think "well I'm circumcised so it's important that I put my baby through a painful & unnecessary procedure so they won't feel "weird" about it later in life." He moved here as a teen and never felt shame about having an intact foreskin. From his experience, it wasn't something that guys pay much attention to in locker rooms etc. Can we please stop shaming boys, or men, or anyone at all, for how their genitals look? It's a really strange thing to obsess about
Adding that as an adult, if your partner is "grossed out" by how your genitals look, it's time to find a new partner.
Load More Replies...I'm a woman from Ireland. This is so weird to me and any man here. Foreskin is there for a reason. Just leave it alone.
Idem in Québec (Canada). We don't do that to boys. It's barbarian! I "did it" once with a circumcised man: it was weird, really weird 😅
Load More Replies...Boys circumcision is in fact as bad as girls circumcision. Both are child abuse and violence. They provide no benefits to anyone.
Please educate yourself, this is not correct. Boy circumcision is harmful, yes, but FGM is on a whole other level. The tissue removed would be equivalent to having the entire tip of the penis cut off. Often it is done with no anaesthesia, not even surgical tools, things like old knives and shards of glass. In some instances they are then sewn up- so instead of a natural vaginally opening, what is left of the labia is sewn over only leaving a very small hole to p**s and bleed through.
Load More Replies...Kudos! It IS torture if you have ever seen it being done, even worse, had to listen to the baby scream in terror. It takes a real man to stand up for something like this in public.
I don't know why you were downvoted! I have witnessed the newborn shrieking in pain during this procedure. It was horrific and very traumatizing!! It was 20 years ago and I can still hear it, along with seeing his whole body trembling from the pain! That's the video new parents should see when making the decision on whether or not to circumcise!!!
Load More Replies...Yeah if a male baby needs to be circumcised for “cleanliness”, then doesn’t that mean that the parents are too lazy to clean their child and therefore shouldn’t be having children?
You also aren't supposed to pull the foreskin back on a baby/child to clean until it releases and pulls back incredibly easily. An uncircumcised baby is just as easy to keep clean as a circumcised one (I have an adult son who was circumcised and 2 11yr olds who aren't). If you can't clean your baby's penis without cutting skin off, you are definitely lazy and shouldn't have kids.
Load More Replies...And to the people that say "girls prefer if a guy is circumcised" I can tell you about half the guys I have been with weren't and it didn't make any difference
I actually prefer uncut. The head is more sensitive so it's easier to make their toes curl without getting lockjaw 😉. I dated a German guy who had to have it done when he was in his 20s (zipper accident = infection = necessary circumcision). He'd had sex before and after, and said his glans became more desensitized over time after the circumcision. Sex still felt good but he missed how much better it felt before.
Load More Replies...Correct. In Italy it's very unusual to see boys circumcised, but my brother had to have it done. I didn't.
Load More Replies...We grow up thinking things are normal because it’s all we’ve know but circumcision isn’t common practice everywhere. Is there actually a benefit to it? Our reasoning (which I’m not saying is good or logical, just what we discussed) was to do it with our son because he’d be the same as dad and most boys here are still being circumcised so he’d be in the majority with his friends and in relationships. I don’t know that we did the right thing or the wrong thing. But I can respect that some people view this as abuse, barbaric, etc. Foot binding, the rings around the neck, corsets, the discs expanding the lip were all cultural norms in certain places at certain times but not beneficial. I think we’ll all feel that way about male circumcision at some point in the future, but not during my son’s time in the US.
Pain medicine aside, people are removing part of a boy’s genitalia without his consent for no good reason.
Im 100 percent all here and ive had no issues so in dont fet why its still widely done. I mean if its medically neccesary fine and my heart goes out too cause i know someone who had to do it in his teens and he was so miserable it made me feel ghost pains lol.
I wonder if in the US it is partly still being done for the profit. Cosmetic companies pay a lot for them.
If they aren't using it to make face cream. Why would they pay a lot for them? Cassidy was right.
Load More Replies...Circumcision is a surgical procedure. There’s always a risk to any surgical procedure. Why would you have a piece of your baby’s body cut off, risking pain, temporal or permanent damage, without medical necessity? Why would anyone want to harm their children’s physical integrity?
Pain or not, I have the understanding that Americans circumcise their male babies "just in case", which is completely unnecessary. A toy with moving parts is always more fun.
Yes! Please! All they give those poor little boys is: a pacifier dipped in sugar water for the procedure! And they don't take much skin off! Why even do it, if it still needs "deep" cleaned?
Not condoning circumcision...just stating things I know... Recently a 6 year old (not my son) had to be circumcised because of medical reason. Hes 6! He was a happy boy, now hes traumatized and depressed. I know adults who had to get circumcised because of medical reasons..they said it was absolutely brutal. I dont know how often circumcisions need to be done due to medical reasons but I feel awful for that little boy.
Load More Replies...Did you hear about the baby boy born with no eyelids? They decided to circumcise him and use the foreskin as a graft to fix the problem, and now the baby is ‘c**k-eyed’……..😂 🤪
Load More Replies...I remember years ago seeing a woman on a daytime talk show explaining the terrible psychological imprint left upon men who were circumcised. I was thinking... lady, we don't remember that, we were only a few hours old, and how would you know? It's really great that people can't remember that specific point in time, as it was filled with many things far more traumatic than circumcision, things which none of us can envision. It's an altogether useless practice, but to feel so strongly about it seems odd to me (I could see an antisemite feeling this way, but I wouldn't accuse the men depicted of that). Am I crazy to think that clipping ears or tails on certain dog breeds is more disturbing?
Studies have shown less emotionnal litteracy and other emotionnal issues among men who had been circumcized as babies. You don't need to remember trauma for it to be real.
Load More Replies...Not common in the UK. I guess we prefer to not traumatise our newborns.
Well, if you idiots would vote to allow women the choice, maybe this wouldn't be an issue.
I fully agree with them and I made sure my son would not be circumcised when he was born when it was a routine procedure at the time (born in 1981 in Canada)
I wonder if the guy with blood on the front of his pants reminds all women that we bleed once a month and aren't really shocked at his display.
They aren't wrong. I swear mine would be bigger if I didn't run out of skin.
One answer is evolution. If foreskins were useless or harmful, they would probably have gradually disappeared over time.
How do you miss something you never had? Circumcision reduces the chances for penile cancer.
they remember the trauma...one of em just had the procedure done last week
If you don't count religious reasons or old customs of desert tribes for hygiene, then only in America bc your health care system where they want to charge you as much as possible. For me as European it's super weird that non religious people do it. Plus it takes a way one part of the pleasure.
I'd rather have no memory of it being done than having to deal with it when I was grown. Grandfather did it at 60 and was in terrible pain for two weeks.
Because of a medical necessity though. Most don't have to have anything done at all, ever. As for 'terrible' pain - that's what we do to small babies, put them in that kind of pain. But it is okay because they 'have no memory' of it? So all operations on babies can be performed without anaesthetic then? They won't remember after all and anaesthetic is dangerous when so small.... No? We learned better, didn't we? I've had major abdominal surgery and can assure you that short term pain relief (only needed for 48 hours despite the severity of the surgery) is very effective, so grandfather did not need to be in 'terrible' pain for 'two weeks'.
Load More Replies...Tallahassee? Looks like the protestors I used to see in from of the Capitol building all the time when I lived there. Was there a brown Volvo with toys glued all over it nearby? Signs on it too?
I was circumcised as a baby and guess what... I don't remember a thing. It has brought no sequels nor suffering at all. Protest worse things.
Just a less sensitive head and increased risk of erectile disfunction when older, but never mind. As long as you don't remember and have nothing to compare it to, that's okay for it to carry on. Or maybei It is right to protest something unnecessary when it does actually have an impact, even if we are talking about something rather small.
Load More Replies...This came up for a vote somewhere? What, exactly, were they voting on?
I'm circumcised and I'm not upset about it. In fact after seeing how wierd an uncircumcised penis looks, I'm glad that I am. And I understand that they look wierd only because I'm used to mine, making circumcised my "normal". Even if it's not normal to everybody.
Weird... what nature gave you might look weird (as you say because that's what you are used to) but our bodies have evolved the way they have for good reasons. The foreskin IS there for a reason. Removing it is unnecessary and can be harmful (and reduces sexual pleasure). It's weird how people seem to think 'I'm okay with it' is a good enough reason to carry on doing things. There are lots of horrible things done that aren't harming me - should I not mind about them then? Not a great argument, is it?
Load More Replies...You don't prevent infection by creating an open wound. Whilst there are valid medical reasons for some men to be circumcised, these are not good reasons to mutilate a baby.
Load More Replies...Nope. There are no protest movements over the wearing of dressing gowns at breakfast. I could come up with quite a lot of things there are no protest movements for. Men absolutely have the right to protest something that is done to them when they have no ability to consent. Something that is done for... what? Looks? Habit? Religion? The only one that is reasonable is medical necessity. Parents should not have the right to permanently alter a child for any other reasons than medical need.
Load More Replies...And there are many men who are not happy. Isn't permanent body modification something everyone should decide for themselves?
Load More Replies...Why? It might a bit over the top. However, this dudes fight for body integrity. And wait until you find out about what is done to girls... then not only the crotch would be stained in (fake) blood but the whole insides of a girl's trouser would be painted in red. With true blood (maybe a reason why men are forcing women to wear skirts). Not to rate one mutilation above the other - but maybe do some reading on the topic before getting offended by a blood stained crotch! Just my saying.
Load More Replies...Great @ N L, how you've managed to belittle men and at the same time diminish women in one sentence!!!! However, as you probably will never get the chance to put your (circumcised) tiny sausage in anything else that is not made of plastic I pitty you and your opinion! Honestly!
Load More Replies...Not that common, not a good enough reason to do it to a baby. During this procedure anaesthetic is used so why is the man crying? Or were you total butchers? At least 'grandpa" (ffs how condescending, sound like a great nurse with that attitude) can consent. My brother is a urologist, he said he has never had a man cry because of any procedure performed. You are giving us reasons that are pure sophistry.
Load More Replies...Can only assume you speak from personal experience. Most people wash.
