This is incorrect. The vaccine provide protection against both infection itself and symptoms. https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/p0329-COVID-19-Vaccines.html is probably the study with the best methodology as they did regular screening and was able to capture completely asymptomatic cases. Vaccine efficacy at preventing infections entirely (not just symptoms) is about 90%.

that is just wrong. we now know the vaccine loses efficacy after around 6 months and it does not protect against infections. it just makes it less severe cos the delta variant wasn't tested during the trial as it didn't exist yet

It is not a claim, it is a fact that they are not designed to reduce transmission, they are designed to prevent serious disease, even if there is some evidence that transmission may be slightly reduced. You don't seem to consider that vaccinated people may be more likely to be asymptomatic, and are not subject to as much scrutiny and therefore get tested relatively less than unvaccinated, skewing the data further. For vulnerable groups, absolutely get vaccinated, for other groups, the risk is relatively low, whilst the long term risk from a vaccine that hasn't finished clinical trials is unknown. There are recent studies, including a notable one from Japan, that suggest that mRNA vaccines may make future variants more dangerous due to ADE. If nothing else, vaccinating a whole population when many are not at risk will increase the likelihood of resistant strains becoming dominant, putting the vulnerable at higher risk than if they had an extra degree of protection and non resistant Bari

The Pfizer vaccine now has full FDA approval. Unlike drug resistance, vaccine resistance is rare. If you want to protect the vulnerable, follow CDC advice ie. keep your distance, wear a mask and get vaccinated.
