Its easy to fix, and if it affects your disposition, do the following. 1. turn off power at circuit box. 2. remover face plate. 3. unscrew odd switch and turn 180 degrees. 4. reattach switch. 5. replace face plate. And lastly 6. turn on power at circuit box. All you need is a screwdriver and a little determination. There's another solution to this though. Find a man who has a good mechanical aptitude, and a sense of humor. :D

There's another switch operating the same light across the room. That's what you get when you have two or more shut off/on switches for the same fixture.

My parents have a wall of 10 switches for all the lights in their office. 9 are fine, but the tenth one is upside down!
Could be on a stairway, with another switch at the top. So you go up the stairs, flip the other switch to put the light back on, then come back downstairs and flip the downstairs switch to off again.
So flip the switch on the other side of the room, come back and flip this one. It's a single-single-threeway.
Two and a half years I was with the ex the light switch by the front door was always on when down and off when up you think either one of us ever figured that out constantly flipping the wrong light switches
This might be a situation where one light also has a switch at another location in the room.

A few of these I can see being annoying, but at the same time I understand a few of them, and why they MAY have happened. The Coca Cola, I've had to be the one who caused that. Diabetes. Low blood sugar. Needed something fast. as for the ear buds. Those damned squishy pieces are always falling off and getting lost. Have to either A: Replace it with a different size / color or B: Give in and spend more $$$ on a new pair.
