The board spacing is off. They match well in the inside few boards but get progressively worse as you move out. Definitely not a good job.

The guy who laid the left boards used pennies for spacers, while the guy who laid the right board used nickels. So, it's actually a currency exchange issue. ;)

if you look close the gaps between the boards are bigger on the right side than the left. could have been easily prevented

The problem is the "carpenter" did not measure each board, he/she used the previous board as measurement for the next board. This is called measurement creep. each board is incrementally longer than the previous one, this causes the gap to become increasingly wider causing the corners to not line up.

the angle cut is made with saw by an adjustment k**b, it is unlikely the angle changes when you are cutting many boards angled the same, also the board separation (the gap between each board is usually made by placing separators, similarly to tile flooring, that would keep the separation even) what is very possible is that who ever was cutting measured a board either too long/short and, had very limited material and could not cut another board so every subsequent one had to follow the error to avoid a gigantic gap in between boards. They avoided using separators in some of the boards to "try" to correct the measuring mistake.

There's a few things going on here but the gap difference is NOT the problem. The gap diff is there because the right hand side is wider overall but the number of boards each side is equal. Because there are the same number of boards they should still have met equally. However the problem is that the cut angle doesnt go corner to corner. It's actually offset to the left at the post end so you essentially have an odd number of boards meeting along that cut line. That's why they progressively stagger. Whoever laid it cut them at 45/45deg whereas they should have been 46/44deg or something like that). They should have laid a stringline to get the correct angle. The best way to solve this prob & get a clean line is to lay one whole side, run a stringline corner to corner then cut that line with a circ saw. Then lay the other side. They made a couple of other bad choices in approaching this job but that cut line mismatch is fundamentally why it hasnt worked.

Angle doesn't/wouldn't matter to a decent carpenter. in this case the spacing on the right is a shave bigger than on the left for whatever dumbass reason.

This is also because the spacing between the boards is different on the two sides. It's larger on the right.
