People Are Ridiculing Sex Ed In The USA After One Person Shares How He Had To Sign A Virginity Card That Was Also A Pizza Coupon
Two things that we don’t expect to read in the same sentence are the words ‘virginity’ and ‘pizza.’ If you’re confused, welcome to our world, because we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw what Andrew Bellinger posted on his Twitter feed.
Andrew told the internet that back in middle school, he was ‘forced’ to sign a virginity card that doubled as a Domino’s Pizza coupon. That card was given instead of proper sex-education lessons. Yup, this is real and it’s making us question what timeline we’re in and how this is even possible. In what universe do people make others promise to remain virgins until they get married in exchange for the promise of pizza?
It’s technically not even free pizza! You have to buy one first to get a one-topping pizza for ‘free.’ Rephrasing one Twitter user’s thoughts, the offer should at least be free pizza for life to make us even consider this.

Andrew’s story was so out-there and incredible that the internet went wild, with his initial post getting more than 300,000 likes (and counting). His story was also retweeted over 47,000 times and got more than 2,300 Twitter users commenting.
But that’s just the start. Andrew also explained that in high school they were also offered another virginity card to sign. However, this time, it wasn’t compulsory. Which was good news. The bad news was that there was no pizza promotion this time around. Wait, or was this good news as well?
Sex education (also known as abstinence education in some places) is a divisive topic in the United States. Some people believe that youngsters should refrain from intimacy until they’re in a stable relationship or are married. Others think that, in the end, it should be up to every individual to decide what’s best for them and not be pressured.
According to UNESCO, comprehensive sex ed is very important because it improves sexual health. UNESCO claims that sex education “does not increase sexual activity, sexual risk-taking behavior or STI/HIV infection rates” and also states that promoting abstinence backfires and, in fact, does nothing to reduce the “frequency of sex or reducing the number of sexual partners.”
Furthermore, UNESCO explains that sex ed should be ‘gender-focused,’ instead of ‘gender-blind’ because this reduced the number of unintended pregnancies, as well as STIs.

I was on the "family life" board for our district in the state of Maryland. The ONLY sex ed of any kind taught was abstinence. I had to sit and look at endless books and videos supposed to "educate" children on things like HIV/AIDS, but without any mention of how the disease could be prevented or transmitted. It was the most ridiculous thing you can imagine, all because Maryland's law states that abstinence is the only sex ed allowed in schools. Even sadder than all that, there were 20 of us on the board, and every time we had to approve curriculum materials, the vote was 19-1. I was always the only no vote. Everyone else was fine with our kids getting little or no useful information. The board even voted against allowing rape crisis help and teen pregnancy hotline information being posted in guidance counselors' offices for those who needed it. Kids are being shamefully deprived of a useful education.
That's just ridiculous. And sad and tragic. At least there was one sane person on that board. Keep fighting

These must be private schools, because I can't imagine a public school trying to pull this off without lawsuits involved. The description of what girls should wear alone would get a sexual discrimination lawsuit. And the statement about how sex is a gift one should save for their spouse is also prejudicial because it assumes that all couples are required to get married. SMH.

I did a "True Love Waits" thing with my parents where they gave me a ring signifying my purity when I was 14. It was summertime. Thanksgiving that same year, I went to my cousins house, as I normally would have (so my parents can get rid of me for their holiday time off.) We went to her boyfriends house, who's best friend lived next door. I was drugged and raped by my cousins boyfriend and his best friend. I suffered as they were large 18 yr old boys/men. These cards are inappropriate, if I am understanding this correctly. Sign this to prove you're a virgin? what right do they have to that information?? Does masturbation count? what if you were raped as a small child?? This is not ok!! And FYI, when they started making my kids sign things when they were in elementary school, I told the teacher that they wouldn't be doing any of that. I wanted my kids to understand that signing things when they were of a legal age had consequences, and I didn't want them thinking that because they signed things when they were little they could then skate on them as adults. When they brought things home that either had their "signature" or asked them to sign, I wrote that we had discussed it, they understood, and I signed it. But this virginity thing? What b******t.
