Meet Hamlet, The Piggy Who Saved My Life

I’m frequently asked why I have a pet pig. I was diagnosed with epilepsy in college. A week after I got married, I went from having one or two seizures a year to eight to ten a day. Daily activities became like climbing Everest to me. My husband wanted a companion for me, but he is extremely allergic to dogs and cats. I showed him a video of a mini pig playing with a dog and he was sold.

Hamlet came to me in a seemingly hopeless situation. She never left my side on my worst days and was always ready to play. She’s the reason I took up photography. I wanted to capture all of our silly adventures and share her amazing personality.

Hamlet saved me. My epilepsy taught me how frail life can be. Hamlet taught me that life is a beautiful gift despite its frailty. I hope Hamlet’s photos bring you as much joy, laughter, and love as she’s brought me.

I love your story. The idea of animals caring for humans makes me question whether we really are the 'smartest'

please stop eating pork. Pigs are very badly treated in these huge animal industrial farming. Mother pigs don't have space to stand or to turn around. They are always lying down as not to walk on a piglet. Pigs grown for meat live horrible lives. They can't walk well as they have very little space, they stand on metal rods as flooring and their hoofs are just open sores, when they come to load them in trucks for the slaughter house, the poor pigs have trouble walking and beaten to make them go faster. Look all this up on the net please.

Stop eating PORK!!!!!!! The way they are raised and killed is so horrible. Look it up on the net and see how mother pigs are not allow to stand so they won't walk on the piglets. Pigs raised for meat can't walk and are beaten when being pushed into the trucks that bring them to the slaughter house.

Aww soo cute. IMHO Animals are the best cure for sadness and can help with almost every ailment imaginable. They show you how to life the moment! :) Especially those whom you really bond with like dogs (come first because I'm biased XD), pigs and cats.
