I'm really against this sort of sick inbreeding for maladaptive traits. So many dog breeds have been destroyed by this nonsense that it's really dispiriting to see it in cats. We already have Persians who have such deformed skulls that the kittens can smother and Siamese cats who bear absolutely no resemblance to real Siamese cats before the fanatical breeders took over. Golden Labs used to be intelligent, athletic water dogs - now most of them are so stupid they get lost at the end of their own leash, and that's only because some nutter decided that their hair should swirl in a certain direction.
Really thank you Aunt Messy for your comment, makes me feel better that there is people like you with this thought, + i love Albert as much as all the other cats
He's really stinkin' cute, isn't he?
Perhaps Bored Panda can stop giving this sort of attention by having these articles

By 'real' Siamese, do you mean the ones with crossed eyes, skeletal deformities, and kinked tails? Yeah, with those squashy faces, it *is* pretty good that only, like, 1% of all Persians, the show Persians, are like that! And it isn't 'sick' inbreeding. I'd love to have a discussion about breeding cats, but please read any good cat book and actually learn about them first, before making flaming comments. :) =^
Siamese cats were at one time muscular, athletic cats who were renowned as champion mousers. Their coats had the pigmentation that we associate with Siamese cats, but their bodies were stockier and their faces were not the elongated, thin-jawed deformity that we see now. Persians were more like Turkish Vans than they are now. Again, they were compact and muscular without the smashed face we see now.
He's absolutely adorable, But I always feel very concerned when I see examples of extreme breeding. Often extreme health problems ensue.
Yep... "For each kitten conceived from this mating, there is a 25% chance it will fail to gestate, a 25% chance it will be normal, and a 50% chance it will be short-legged."
I know how much my cat likes to jump and run around my house, just stretching her legs in general. So, when look at this munchkin I do not see his cuteness but I feel sad. He was intentionally bred with disability just to look cute. This is not how nature intended cats to be. :(
We have 2 Munchkins that are brothers, born 1.5 yrs apart. They are the most loving cats that stick by their peoples side. Tater "Lil' Tater Tot, tops out at 7 lbs. and can jump up on the washing machine. So please don't feel sorry for them because you don't think they can be normal. Scooter the other Munchkins and Tater can run as fast as lighting. They are normal, loving and the most fun of all the cats that we have owned. TaterIsSta...14b6d6.jpg
I have a munchkin. Jumps and plays like,a regular cat. Mine is a shelter rescue. Great cat!
A munchkin cat? Kind of interesting, but no thanks. I don't care for breeding animals just for humans selfish reasons.
I doubt he is really enjoying that "fashion".
true, that's just embarrassing. :(
This makes me so sad. No animal should have to go through the sort of breeding when they end up with negative effects in their health.
Why do ppl always have to put their animals cloth on and put them in stupid positions? Why do a cat in a banana costume hase to lay in a bathtub? It's an animals and not a toy. All this shit just for follows and likes. It's just embarrassing an not appropriate for the cat.
So, you probably also say that these little kids running around in make-up and fancy gowns just so their parent(s) can parade them around are basically the same thing. Most parents do it for bragging rights.
Very cute face but cats with wiener-dog-legs that make them waddle?? No. Just No.
Poor cat. Who would be so ignorant and cruel to breed and to buy cats bred to have a disability? It's revolting.
Too adorable for words. Such a cutie photogenic kitty.
Omggg the little scooter and tub!
Those eyes....so handsome.....I would just love to pet him:))))
Whoa that cat has funky legs - yikes
I am amazed how easily my cats (and it seems everyone's cats) instinctively know how to walk backward, when it takes a lot of time and patience to teach a dog to do this.
I have always wanted a Munchkin but where I live it is hard to find any. I have a Tuxedo right now with a Dachshund/Beagle mix. When they go to the Rainbow Bridge I WILL have a Munchkin kitten and Dachshund puppy so they can grow up together. Most people (Aunt Messy) have no education about Munchkins. If she would do a bit of research she would find that most animals on earth came from inbreeding and no, not intentionally but, on their own. So please people, do a bit of research before coming on here and sticking your foot in your mouth. It's better to be informed than ignorant.
I think it should be illegal to breed abnormalities.
I think he is just adorable. Throughout history, animals have inbred and crossbred whether by design or by chance. That is why there are so many different varieties of every living creature.
eyes! <3
Before you start criticizing inbred cats/dogs, you should educate yourself. Their short stature is a genetic mutation. Not from inbreeding.
Instead of down voting me. Why don't you express your opinion?
It certainly is a very cute, special cat.
Skull nose? I don't see...
Despite the fact that I dislike animal clothing, I think this cutie is just adorable!!!
so fluffy <3
