This Gorilla Really Wants To See Your Vacation Pics On Your Phone
Jelani, a silverback gorilla at Louisville Zoo, Kentucky, likes to look at photos on visitor’s phones. Video editor Paul Ross spied this ape in action during a recent visit to the zoo, looking at photos of other gorillas on a young man’s smartphone and even motioning him to keep scrolling.
“I stumbled upon the boy sharing pictures with Jelani touring the zoo with my one-year-old daughter,” Ross told Daily Mail. “The boy was scrolling through gorilla pictures, and Jelani would motion with his hand to move to the next photo.” Encounters like these make you feel a little sad that such an intelligent creature is in a zoo!

Share on FacebookYes and no. Bad zoos suck. Good zoos are helping to save many species from extinction, as well as teaching us humans to respect our neighbours on this planets.
Load More Replies...he needs a tv screen with NatGeo and Animal Planet on it. or cams of other animals.
Load More Replies...Feel sad for this beautiful creature. Why do they have to suffer the foolishness of mankind. Is this the price of their safety/ protection? I really feel bad for them :(
i hate zoos. i remember being a little girl and going on a field trip with my third grade class to our local area zoo. even so young, i knew that keeping animals in very small cages, all alone was not right. I remember feeling devastated because I could not help them. today our zoo no longer has cages and has expanded to be more in line with the animals natural environment. strange thing is, the animals know that they are confined, no matter how spacious their "habitat" is. I think it is still heartbreaking....but today there are things I can and do to help. KEEP WILD ANIMALS WILD.
Sad! Gorilla should be free in his own environment and not looking through a thick glass at someone else's pictures. Not funny :(((
So many people bashing zoos without doing any research on them, just their silly opinions. Not all zoos are bad, and not all are good. In a lot of zoos, the animals are very well looked after and cared for. It's not as dreary your bleeding hearts would like to think. Find a zoo that's abusing the animals, and then put all your energy into that cause. Not just 'zoos suck'. Wow, what a scientifically sound judgement call to unite all animal rights activists.
Sad! The poor gorilla should be free in his own evironment and not looking, through a thick glass, the pics from someone elses. Not funny :(((
I am not sure who is the gorilla, the one that has a lot of hair or the one that has such pronounced jaw ?
Funny that we experience shock whenever we see footage of animals -- brilliant beings! -- thinking about and communicating with us. Humans are NOT superior!
I used to think they should not be in zoos, but they are safer there. Gorillas are valuable to hunters. I cannot understand why anyone would murder such a magnificent organism.
It's magical all right... it reminds me of the bog in Lord of the Rings... & the spider webs are amazing...! How to spiders know how to do that... some kind of genetic memory I guess. Still clever though :)
I feel sad for the Gorilla , i love zoo's because it keeps the animals safe but still i cant help but feel sadness
oh brother, "zoos suck". they make us aware and amazed. if there were no zoos, none of us, save the extremely wealthy, could see any of the incredible animals we get to see. it is trendy to hate zoos. one or two documentaries showed one side of the story, and no, nothing is perfect, EVER. in any situation, there are screw ups. but seriously, in your heart of hearts you know it's a life, like a life on the plains, lakes, seas, trees, wherever. my little daughters were shown an (expletive) documentary. WHY? why would someone show them that? it's not for young eyes. adults: clue in. zoos do way more good than harm.
Really? It's trendy to hate zoos? Well, being empathetic and aware of suffering of sentient beings is a good trend I think. Yeah, if there were no zoos you and I wouldn't see a giraffe or a gorilla. i think I could deal with it. I have documentary about wildlife, where I can see animals living like they are supposed to, not in small cages, bored and suffering from mental diseases. I'm not amazed while looking at a bear with stereotypy. Here you are some articles about animals behaviour in zoos: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2723866/Johannesburg-zoo-puts-sick-polar-bear.html http://www.spanishzoos.org/ http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-in-entertainment/animals-used-entertainment-factsheets/zoos-pitiful-prisons/ http://www.captiveanimals.org/news/2010/03/10-facts-about-zoos think about it.
