This Student Ignored All Warnings And Drove Towards A Hurricane To Save Animals On His Path

It was supposed to be just an ordinary Thursday for a college student named Connor, but he ended up on a mission to save two doggies, Thelma and Hercules, from Hurricane Harvey. “I didn’t really think — I just figured someone needed to help them,” Connor told The Dodo.

See, the 22-year-old, whose mother volunteers at a local rescue shelter, saw a post on social media about two dogs in danger. The foster parents of Thelma and Hercules were asking for someone to come and take the dogs to safety. That’s when Connor decided to make a road trip into the hurricane.

“I said why not? And jumped in my truck,” says the brave man, who wanted his last name to remain anonymous. He left Austin and headed straight to Corpus Christi to pick up Thelma and Hercules.

Connor accomplished his mission with great success and now a local animal shelter called Lucky Lab is calling him a hero. “Connor saved the day, literally, by making a big sacrifice, dropping everything and driving four hours to an area about to get slammed by a hurricane,” writes the shelter. “He is now inaugurated as a ‘rescue road warrior’ and we are forever grateful.”

So the guy drove toward the hurricane and successfully rescued canines Thelma and Hercules

Now the doggies are safe and sound, all thanks to Connor

“He is now inaugurated as a ‘rescue road warrior’ and we are forever grateful”

Of course, there were other heroes who saved dogs in the hurricane-stricken area…

And also those who didn’t forget the kitties in need

So glad there are still enough people like him and all the other rescuers out there, because each and every single one of them is the reason we can still have hope in humanity.

What a piece of s**t. There are thousands of PEOPLE in a life threatening situation and this a*****e drives down to save two dogs?! Why is he being praised? Why not use that truck to help PEOPLE evacuate? F**k this guy, and the society that places more value on an animal's life than a human's.

You sir are an amazing and wonderful human being. Thank you for doing what you did. You are really living up to your name too. Connor is an Irish name and it means "Lover of Dogs."

An animal's life is not worth a human's life. Not only did you put yourself at risk, but if you had gotten in trouble, you would have put your rescuers lives at risk as well. Although your intentions were great, you didn't think that one through too well.

There is no "right" about this. You personally think a human life is more important. I think the opposite, (but that doesn't mean you're wrong).
