This Man Feeds 80 Stray Dogs Every Day Because He Can’t Bear to See Them Starve

Michael J. Baines feeds about 80 stray dogs in Chonburi, Thailand every day. The 48-year-old has been doing that for the last 5 years now.

Baines provides them with a mixture of dry dog food, rice, oil, steamed fish, or chicken on his way to work, when he drives to the forest to walk his own dogs, or when he’s going back home. The man also feeds any dogs that he sees outside his restaurant.

“I feel sad [for homeless dogs], and want to help them all,” Baines told Bored Panda. “Especially when I see a lonely dog that does not belong to any pack, probably dumped, which is very common here. I always have food and fresh water in my car, so whenever I see a dog, I stop and give it food and water.” The man also treats the dogs with medication if needed.

“It costs me around 40-50 000 baht per month (around 1500 USD) not including emergency cases,” Baines added. “I do get donations, yes, sometimes it’s enough, sometimes not. I have helped find homes for around 30-40 dogs, not including my own 9 + 4 (the 4 stays with my ex-wife).”

It makes my heart happy to read good stories like this where people take care of animals. There's a special place in heaven for people like this.

What a fantastic guy!!!! I understand where he's coming from as I've rescued 10 cats since working in Africa, 5 of which I've re-homed and the other 5 I've kept as my own babies and are coming back to the UK with me when I relocate (2 are already safely in the UK). It's so hard to leave them!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work and may God bless you xxx

We may not change the world with a single huge act, but we will definitely changes the world with many small acts.

I wish I could have a life that allows me to adopt an old dog. Let us know how to donate to spay them all. I have a time, living in Bangkok.

I thought about neutering too, but ultimately he can't neuter all the dogs that are homeless and starving. He's found his own way to help.

An outstanding human being. Devoting time to nurture and ease the pain of homeless dogs...absolutely amazing.

What a wonderfull man he is. I am only worried that there are coming more, because they are not spayed and neutered. I hope it will be done for themselves.

He feeds the problem. He should invest the money to neuter the dogs to end the problem. Just the opinion of a foster/adopter.. AND NO F*****G DOG NEEDS RICE AND BREAD. Ew.

Most vets will recommend a diet of rice and chicken to a dog with stomach issues or after an operations. Have YOU changed an animal's life recently?
