This Guy Is Cutting Tourists’ Selfie Sticks In Half, And People Can’t Decide If He’s A Hero Or Villain
Meet Buddy Bolton – a Youtuber who runs around NYC destroying peoples’ selfie sticks with a branch cutter.
“We were sick of Selfie Stick tourists in NYC, so we did this,” the description field under his Youtube video says. In the video, you can see Bolton clipping tourists’ selfie sticks, while they’re trying to take a picture. Even though he does have a good point (it really is an overcrowded city and selfie sticks aren’t making it any better), the guy is destroying personal property and that’s just not cool. Not to mention, it could get him in lots of trouble.
With over 370k views, 12k dislikes, and just 2k likes below the video, we can’t decide – Is Buddy Bolton a hero or villain? Let us know in the comment section below!

Share on FacebookI hate such douchebags, same as all those "just a prank, bro!" idiots. Don't like selfie sticks? Don't buy one! What he does is just a regular damage of private property.
Oh, nevermind, it's fake. There are no phones. Slow down the speed of video and take a look at 0:40 for example. I don't like it anyway, though. Zrzut-ekra...5491f4.png

I invite him to do that here in my country and he will be mauled by the public, you just do not destroy personal property
do it in Australia & your a**e would be kicked, f******d
Load More Replies...I agree about damaged property, no matter it's just a stick, or the phone that falls down. Also, I don't care if it's fake or not - that guy is running around with a weapon, therefore he's dangerous. I don't care it's not aimed at people, accidents happen. And this is a very dangerous thing to do indeed.
That's not okay, how annoying selfish sticks may be they aren't actually harming him and he is choosing to be offended at something that isn't actually going to affect his life in any real way. He's acting like a double bag. He's probably one of those lads who thinks he's being cool and clever but he's destroying others personal property.
Auto correct, that meant to say selfie stick and douche bag
Load More Replies...Nope. This makes him a bigger douche bag. Plus he's going to come across someone who will clock him for doing that.
Destruction of property is destruction of property. I hate those f*****g things as much as anyone, but assuming this is real, it still makes you a douchebag. Just like the person using the selfie stick.
is he going to pay for the damages he cost? Nope! it's a very irrational way to make people stop using selfie sticks. If i travel alone and no one is around to capture my photo with a nice view, of course selfie stick is the best option! Still this guy doesn't have the right to damaging personal property!
he's a straight b***h and wears it on his face. He better run fast if I see him.
Is this guy serious? You know what happens when you cut a selfie stick? Your phone falls. And when your phone falls, it might break. Now what happens if you have a thousand dollar phone on a selfie stick that was just cut by an idiot? Your thousand dollar phone is broken. I hope he's paying for it. Not cool -_-
i understand that sometimes people need to put down their cells to appreciate things around them - but this is going overboard, at that height even an armored phone can get damaged and that's not cool. Smartphones are expensive and his action can fall under vandalizing personal properties
Guys a total douche cuz he's also breaking very expensive phones too...........
Sue him and in USA he would get allready LIFE for multiple Crimes and Destroying proberty...
He is a hero! People are becoming so self involved, that it is an illness which is un-nerving!
What a jerk. Let people do whatever they like. You don't see me setting on fire that abomination of a hat he has.
People like this are why I love karma- he'll p**s off the wrong person and well...there you have it (and maybe that'll make it on YouTube)
What an a*****e!!! Come here in Rio,Brazil and try to do this.JERK!
Let's see. He's destroying personal property, very likely including the attached cell phones in the process. I'd say villain. People's selfies don't hurt me any more than their wearing the color pink does, even though I hate that color. Not liking that color doesn't give me the right to destroy people's pink clothes and other items when they wear or use them in public. He needs to be heavily fined and jailed.
How I wish I could meet you in the streets, you will be my wet dreams come true when I smash your face
I hate people like him. No matter why he's doing this but ruining someone else's moments is not funny. I can easily kill this man and his friends that is filming.
This is wrong. Taking selfies isn't a crime, and it doesn't affect him in any way. Even if you don't like it, you can just ignore them.
Anyone who likes this guy should all pool your money together and replace the broken phones and sticks tourists especially have reason to use them it's either use a selfie stick or trust a total stranger to touch ur phone
I know and when you're with a big family it's a cute way to get everyone in the pic also if there's something cool behind u
Load More Replies...If not already, I would fine him, destruction of people's property, I do however agree that these selfie sticks & selfies are s**t. But hey, you know this is a freedom of expression to take selfies
I don't have a personal opinion on whether he's a hero or a villain, I just think what he's doing is going to severely p**s off a lot of people and that kind of makes me cringe. Also he'll probably get in trouble eventually. On one hand, he's destroying personal property and he has no right, people have the right to own a selfie stick if they want to, and maybe owning a selfie stick is perfectly reasonable for them, given all the factors of their personality and path through life. On the other hand, selfie culture is kind of a mark of everything that's wrong with this generation, and selfie sticks are the absolute epitome of it. I mean it's almost like you gotta have some kind of pathology to actually jump on that bandwagon and not have any awareness of how it seems to others, or in other words what the overall societal significance of owning a selfie stick is.
I like it but it would be better if he caught the phones before they hit the ground
"Is Buddy Bolton a hero or villain?" This is not really a question. Property damage stays property damage, for whatever reason it is done. Frontier justice is undermining societies as it either decreases trust in the state or is already a consequence from a lack of trust. Selfie sticks surely are annoying, but there are many other actions that would be legal and besides that, might also be sustainable. For example, prohibiting them to being taken into typical touristic places makes them quickly disappear. Rome for example does this in the Colloseum.
So you condone the destruction of personal property?
