Man Orders Artist To Paint His Portrait For Free Because His Son ‘Has Cancer’, Gets The Response He Deserves
An anonymous Spanish ‘artist’ recently uploaded a conversation he apparently had with a fan who asked for a commission.
We all know that artists dedicate an awful lot of time and hard work to their craft, and very often don’t get the compensation they deserve. This artist had clearly had enough, and after claiming that this particular portrait would take 3-4 days to complete, refused to budge on his asking price. That didn’t deter this plucky fan however, and what was to follow was a barely believable exchange that quickly descended into farce, with the fan using increasingly desperate tactics to try score himself some free art.

Imagine that he's not lying and he's son is really sick... then he's trying to get a free artwork taking advantage of his dying son. Whatever what the truth, he's definitivly an a*s****

But it is the foundational principle of negging. "I'm gonna be mean to you and tell you that your (boobs/face/art/ bartending skills/xyz) are c**p and barely within my radar so you throw yourself at me in a desperate attempt to prove me wrong..... I don't understand why anyone would do anything at all with a random stranger who walks up and is casually insulting to you out of nowhere, but I guess it works for some people.
Load More Replies...Why is the word artist in quotes in the intro paragraph? (‘artist’) In doing so, the person who wrote the article is questioning the artist's credibility... just like the jerk buyer did. Nice writing, 'author'... (see what I did there?)
He's that bad trying to get free artwork, imagine the BS he spews trying to get laid.
Well, he apparently uses the 'negging' technique to get what he wants. His pick up lines are probably a laughable attempt at cruelty, easy to see through as the pitiful attempt it is, and never successful, no matter how drunk or desperate the person is.
Load More Replies...Ugh this is exactly the reason I stopped commissioning, they call your art c**p but still want it, and when they are still b****y they go straight to the cancer trick. It makes people who actually have family with cancer feel like s**t.
I can't fathom why we protect these clowns and don't just shame them, defamation is a thing, but if it's truthful they should just be exposed. The lack of punishment is why these people exist. If you keep protecting the guilty the innocent will stop being so innocent.
Amazing, the "client" used about all the guilting excuses in the book.
I went into Audi last week to try the same. I asked for a free car because my mum had broken her leg. It didn't work either! People are so selfish!
It seems like he's been taking advice on deal making from the present occupant of the White House.
Reminds me of my ex-husband (25 years ago) wanting sex when I didn't. He'd be all sweet & cajoling until I finally said, very firmly "NO". Then he'd yell, call me a b***h, etc. When that didn't get him anywhere he'd go back to trying to be sweet. Like, really Dude? You just called me a b***h (and a selfish c#@t) but now I'm supposed to want to have sex with you? I kicked him out before our 1st anniversary.
Why don't you paint it yourself ? *after saying 10 times his art is s**t* Because I want your art. Haaaa the people...
Sometimes I wonder what kind of parents people like this douchebag have...goats? Or did they raise themselves and had nobody who would teach them not to be an a*****e.
The kind of parents who say "study economics, medicine or law- everything else is a hobby"
Load More Replies...There's a certain low to a person doing this. I believe there's a point of no return in a character and this person, wanting ART, has clearly crossed it. Imagine what he'd do for something MORE than art he hankered for....
Why would you want the artist to do your portrait if you think his work is S%#t?
Never ask an artist to give you their goods for free, unless you would walk into a store and do the same thing there.
Damn, if I wanted to hear two idiots bicker so much I would invite my in-laws over!!! The internet is sadder for this post....and that is saying a lot for something that is 75% porn!
No, obviously it doesn't since the artist denied the request. Why do cheapskates even think that insulting an artist is going to get them what they want?. What a moronic thing to do. When you want to get something from people if you're a normal person, you try to appeal to their goodwill by paying them compliments, not insulting them.
SIGH!! Always the guys who want it all for free, but would refuse to do the same favour for someone else.
This is fake, There was a similar thread going around about a woman who made crochet on Etsy, people make these threads up for the reaction.
In the post's first sentence, why is artist in inverted commas ('artist')? Is Gerda suggesting he's not really an artist?
High time artists get the respect they bloody deserve. How idiotic. I hope this cheap Twitter dude gets a**l cancer and dies.
Yup, that's about half the people who want to contract you for art right there in that interaction... He even did the "but I have followers on twitter, you get something better than money, you get EXPOSURE !" bit which I find especially loathsome, because even companies do it.
Theyre both stupid, the person had no commin sense but at the same time the artist was being unprofessional
Piece of c**p liar!!! When someone ( as myself) has had cancer, why in the World would I want a picture!! When your that sick you want Nothing!!!
Why did this conversation even continue beyond "And you don't even draw that well"? Why would you keep going?
Oh, I give art for free, alright. The difference is that I CHOOSE whom I'll join in their personal battles and quests. What an INCREDIBLY disgusting "human" being, no matter the truth (lying about his son? USING his dying son). Gofak, man, you're horrible. Good for the artist!
At some point, I expected him to send a d**k pic to the artist for no particular reason. Seems like it is in his character.
Oh my god x'DD It's like all the a*****e clients with idiotic excuses merged in one. "My son is f*****g dying" hahah this person is hilarious xD
If that wallpaper is painted by this artist, it sure will be in that person's Instagram. We need to find this painting and the person through it. Then have to scroll through his followers to find this guy with 10m followers and find whether he has a son and if he really is ill. Either way, have to thrash him.
Stop trying with the damn "illness" thing. What if one day that actually happens like your son actually got cancer... BAD KARMA
bored panda should learn from this, and gofak off with these stupid posts. I don't care that two people got into a petty argument, this isn't anything exciting or special... this happens daily everywhere..
Since you don't know the standard of work or the medium used you are talking out of your a*s on this. Only a person who doesn't create for themselves would be this obnoxious about artist should not be charging like this. You're exactly the same kind of person as this client, who would try to bully the price down with that ignorant attitude.

The point isn't to blow sunshine up your butt with every mouse click, it's to make you think about the vagaries of human nature, life on this planet, history, the potential for the future, etc. Some of the articles are rather sad, some make me angry, some make me cry, most of them make me think. Which is way more important, in my estimation, than consisting solely of HAPPYHAPPYFUNJOYFUNJOYGLEEHAPPY articles. If that's what you want, go look at somethingpositive.net or type cute puppies and kittens into a search bar. You'll get more consistent results of positive content than on here.
