Mythical Beasts: Photographer Captures The Majestic Beauty Of Maine Coons
Let photographer Robert Sijka introduce you to Maine Coons - domesticated big cat breed that sure will leave you in awe. These fluffy cats are basically the closest thing to a lynx that you can share your home with, without worrying too much about your well-being.
Sijka always saw Maine Coon cats as majestic, almost mythical, not overly cute cats and now he came up with a way to share that image with the rest of us: "My passions are cats and photography, I do my best to combine these two things as good as possible," the photographer shares on his website. And he managed to combine those passions perfectly in his royal-like Maine Coon cat photo series.
He got the inspiration from a "photo of Dolce Vita and De La Loo - two of the most majestic black Maine Coon kittens photographed beautifully on a simple black background," Robert told Cat Behaviourist. And ever since that moment, he was creating these mesmerizing portraits himself.

We had a stray kitten who was dropper fed and #4 when he came to us. He was the embodiment of my son's imaginary cat, and he lived with us for 20 years. He looked like this, and took pieces of our hearts with him.

Back in the eighties, we had a beautiful boy with similar markings and true green eyes. We named him Pistachio. Miss him still.

We live with 5 Maine Coons and they are amazing creatures. They have fabulous pursonalities, are typically social and are very loving. I have attached a picture of Rusty our big red classic boy, begging for treats with our 8 year old granddaughter. The coat, color and personality are driven by genetics. There are many breeders out there, but be careful that the breeder tests for genetic issues, heart and hip problems. You caught them all and added to our love of our Maine Coons. I am constantly taking pictures of our boys because they are so wonderful! Your talent is a real treat.
I feel like Maine coons and Bengal cats are very exotic looking, and almost like miniature wild cats! Beautiful!
My big orange cat, Daddy-O, must be at least part Main C**n . He has the tail, the size, the face and head shape. Huge paws with feather toes and feather ears. He doesn't have the big fluffy beard, though.
We had a main c**n that we had to put down last year, we are still heartbroken over losing her. She was such a sweet girl, great personality, returned all the affection she was given, they are truely beautiful animals.

Because of these photos, I persisted until I found a beautiful all black Maine C**n, and the best part is I found him in a shelter and adopted him. He looks just like the all black Maine C**n in your photos! He weighs 20 pounds and he is gorgeous!
I have two part Maine C**n cats orange tabby. Love them but I want a full blooded one I am obsessed with them just beautiful.
My cousin has one she is amazing ! She will tell u off if shes upset and love on you when shes in the mood they are SO much bigger in person than they look in pictures ! 12400820_1...e749d9.jpg

These portraits are simply amazing, and thank you so much for creating them! I have owned many (only female) cats in my life including Russian Blue Tabbies, Manx's and other breeds. Presently, I own a Maine C**n rescue cat named Beaudie (Bo-dee). He is my first full grown male cat, and has three legs, talks and is not only beautiful but crazy intelligent. I'm not really one to love cats but tbh Maine Coons are the only cats I love and I adopted 4 of them, from a shelter, I wasn't really thinking coz the cats r huge, but they r huge snuggle bunnies anyway.

My cat is a mix of gre-brown tabby and Maine c**n. My neoghbor had a silver grey large Maine c**n. a large fur ball.They are sweet cats.
The pet store close to my house has the newly domesticated lynx, and lynx-tiger hybrids.
They are all gorgeous creatures! And to think that people don't believe in God, everything, everyone, every animal has a Creator!! They are wonderful!!
These Cats are beautiful and huge!! Our Maine C**n was on the small side so we called him Itty Bitty! He was the sweetest Cat and he had a Meow that was more of a chirping sound! I'd get another Maine C**n for sure!!
We had a Main C**n for 6 years......she was the most affectionate cat, with an amazing hunting instinct. Her colouring was the rust/black/brown Tabby type!

I am owned by two Maine Coons - I am the live in servant and sofa! Would not have any other cat but there are times I think I need a large dog to keep them entertained!

Not enough pictures! Lost my dog a few months ago and said I would never get another pet. I have always liked cats better and after seeing these pictures I may have to rethink my position
Wow! Every single one is incredibly gorgeous! Their fur looks so much like velvet. The photographer is extremely talented and lucky to be able to capture them on camera!
Love the pictures. I have a six year old female Maine c**n. She is white and black and weighs 17 lbs. I call her my big Teddie bear, she is great to cuddle up to.
I had no idea about this breed of cats. I'm interested in what their personialt's like. Are they recommended for household cats? Such regal beauty.
Ours is wonderful, and my sister-in-law has a sweet one, too. We have many cats, an old dog, and three kids, and Buddy is wonderful with all of them. He chirps instead of meowing, he begs at the table, and he loves laying at the foot of the bed and purring so loud you can hear him across the room. He's amazing!
