Brazilian Illustrator Reimagines Famous Love Songs As Creepy Book Covers By Stephen King
Brazilian graphic designer and illustrator Butcher Billy got the idea of turning famous love songs into book covers of horror master Stephen King. Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," The Smiths, "Head Over Heels" by Tears For Fears, and many other famous songs were portrayed in a very unusual way.
"This series imagines an alternate universe where some of the most desperate and tragic romantic songs in the '70s and '80s are actually horror books written by Stephen King. The concept is to look at the dark side of love by the vision of pop culture, bringing aspects of its classic stories to play the true meaning of the songs - this can be completely subverted or stressed strangeness while paying tribute to the vintage book cover designs of the original horror stories," Butcher writes on his Behance.

I've always said this song is really creepy, it doesn't need a creepy book cover! D:
It was written to express feelings of obsession and possessiveness. I never understood why people thought it was a love song.
Load More Replies...Actually knew someone with a stalker who would play this song on her answering machines. She had to move states and change names eventually.
The Police singing "every breath/move/bond/step you take/break/make" ... sounds to me like we need to worry more about big brother
It's still a love song, just told from the stalkers perspective. It is creepy, but that was the point.
What kind of illustrator needs to cut and paste the art from a "Black Sunday" movie poster in order to depict a simple drawing of woman's face? If Butcher Billy is actually a real "illustrator" he wouldn't steal other illustrator's art. But, yah, you did a funny thing with your Photoshop...
The song was written about a stalker. It was always weird to think of it as a love song.
Louis Vuitton purse eh? Brings new meaning to "it'll cost an arm and a leg"
wow ... mind blown ... it never occurred to me that Pink Floyd sang love songs! Now I'll have to listen to all their old records with a new understanding of what they were singing about (Comfortably Numb, Brain Damage, Run Like Hell ... it's all becoming clear now)
It was used as a theme song in a play called Dance of the Vampires with the one and only Michael Crawford they totally could've done that
Did Roy Orbison ever do this song? I was thinking just the other day how he would have totally slayed it.
Seriously, I can see this as being a novella. Say it starts out with happy couples in a small town and goes Beauty and the Beast in reverse. I want royalties if this happens!
This is already a Stephen King book. The Ramones song was part of the movie soundtrack.
This might be the best article on here. Keep it up dude this is f****ing sick
With the book pictures all these titles now sound like episodes of Tales from the Crypt
These are soo good! I kinda wish they were real soo I can read them! Haha
They are good, but maybe some of the songs needed more research into what the writers said it was about. Even the police have said every breath is not a love song. It's about someone being stalked. And they are telling the victim they will never leave them.
I made this comment as well! Sting confirmed multiple times in interviews it is a song about stalking not love! Yet people still declare it "their song" or use it as a wedding song. Honestly, if someone thinks that a song that says things like "oh can't you see, you belong to me" is a love song, they may not have the healthiest ideas of relationships. lol.
Load More Replies...I don't like the ones with the actual artists included, but overall, this is brilliant!
I'll be honest, these are more like retro horror movie posters... just putting it out there...
Don't read much in the way of murder mystery? Because these look a lot like the covers I've
Load More Replies...I just finished a great book called "Paperbacks from Hell" about pulp thrillers from the 70s and 80s - these would fit right in!
"Every Breath You Take" was never written as a love song. Sting has multiple times confirmed it is indeed a song about a stalker and he has said he doesn't understand why people think it is a love song. Other than that great job and very creative!
These are absolutely wonderful! As a horror fan and avid reader I can honestly say I wish more book covers had such quality work on them. Unfortunately all too often, even on King's books, the art is sub par.
