Woman Tired Of Her Loud Neighbor Writes A Hilarious Letter To Him And Leaves Him A Cake At 4 AM
As much as many of us wish to have a peaceful place we can call our home, in the 21st century it’s not that easy to find a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable place to stay that is within your budget. So, just like the most of us, people get used to living in loud neighborhoods and buildings with paper thin walls. And even though you might think you got used to it, there are some neighbors that just don’t understand that blasting music at 3 am is not okay. Telling them to turn it down a notch is not an easy task so one woman found the best way to kindly ask her neighbor to turn the music down.
Recently, theologian and writer Candice shared a letter on Twitter that quickly received a lot of attention
Here’s what the letter said
After she posted the letter, Candice tweeted some updates on the situation
But suddenly it seemed like the neighbor did get the memo
And then the two finally met each other!
Now their neighborly friendship has blossomed since both of them have some things in common

Share on FacebookGood thing her neighbor is cool. Because I've had douchebags neighbors that don't give a Fk. Even when you approach them and ask NICELY and POLITELY to do/stop doing/change something, and you even give reasons for your petition... they just ignore you and keep acting like jerks.
I wrote a kind, funny note to my upstairs neighbor about the noise she makes and she told me it was not her but either 1) someone else who lives above me (a ghost?) or 2) mice. Evidently ghosts and mice like to vacuum at midnight.
The world desperately needs more people like you miss. Taking a bow to your kindness. God bless you.
@Richard: Fat shaming is not cool. And she's not fat, she's a curvy girl.
Load More Replies...She was awesome! I'd have got really mad but instead she's made a great friend and they both help each other with grief too. What an amazing lady and an unexpected approach 😊
Loved reading that tonight. Well Done Candice, also helped he wasn’t some psychopath or your head would be boiled . Well done mr for Not being a weirdo 👌🏻😆
I am shook. I'm certain that I would have been pissed because I ain't friendly to be woken up at 3 am to the blasting noise of stereo and to songs I do not enjoy (would've been different if they were my favorite songs tho, I'd be tolerant lol). But hey, baking a pound cake for that? Did Jesus come down in the form of a black woman with talent in baking? lol Truthfully, quite ashamed myself because I imagined if I were there, I wouldn't be that nice.
Plot twist: the recipient has diabetes. (Sorry, I had to... ♥ Great gesture and approach on her side)
Load More Replies...AWESOME !! I will think of this the next time I have an issue with loud neighbours : I tend to react in anger and regret it later, because DUH !, it doesn't lead anywhere ! :-)
Well for a video music PRODUCER [add sarcasm] he doesn't seem to know the equipment called a HEADPHONE?!
See, what you did was the exact opposite of what Candice did. Your [negative] comment is based on incomplete assumptions. If you could, imagine that you're trying to *drown* out the loss of a child [especially over the holiday season] while you keep busy and attempt to move forward with life. Not only are you likely not going to be able to do that while connected by a pair of studio headphones to your equipment but, I'm pretty sure, like Tommy, your head will not be in the right frame of mind to consider EVERYTHING else life is throwing at you. Thankfully though, there are beautiful and understanding souls like Candice who are able to bring people together (think positive energy as OPPOSED to negative).
Load More Replies...I love this. It's definitely a reminder to me that it is always better to lead with kindness.
So happy for Candice and Tommy, having a great neighbor is everything.
I would love to meet him and gave as nice chat with him. Mainly because the man is fine. Other details to be worked out later.
When I first moved into town where I live, I lived in an apt and the neighbors I had were ghetto of all get out! They were not confrontable and were enjoying nothing but to make my life and my family's life miserable as hell! There are those that you can confront, be nice to, etc.... But then those that aren't. So, I'm glad that this story ended up well and seems to have a happy ending but for real, it doesn't happen that way all the time. After numerous calls to the police, they ended up knowing the issue before the even got there! Ugh, those are memories that I don't like and you wouldn't believe the stories i have of of them.
Neighbors from hell, sounds like. I've known a few myself.
Load More Replies...So good that her neighbour was understanding and they get along well now, so this story ended the right way. Unfortunately, many people don't really care, at all, about their neighbours and don't change their behaviour even when you approach them respectfully to show the problem they're causing.
This girl is amazing and her neighbor is cool too! We can all learn a lesson here...
I went out with kindness to my former neughbour who was listening to loud techno music nearly 14 hours a day. I went with a polite question if they could turn down a bit. When they did, I presented a cake as a thanks. Peace lasted 1 week. When I went again witha very polite request I got a note the following day on my doorstep that I should go back to my countryside where I came from, since clearly Im too rural for a city and should shut the f**k up. That's when I decided kindness isn't paying off, took the case to the landlord and the owner of the estate and after a half a year got them an eviction with a little help of the Police and City Guard. So yeah. At least I tried.
I hate people who play music that loud. Why don't these individuals think about what they are doing and effects they have on other people around them... I have noisy neighbors and I played the nice card. It didn't end well.
Am I the only one who would not have eaten that cake? You know just in case there was something dodgy in it!
I’m with you Sue. I’m not eating cake from a stranger. I guarantee there’s milk and eggs in it. But her gesture was still nice.

I just love everything about this!! This is how we should treat one another! Much respect to this wonderful lady!
When I read about this being his first Christmas without his daughter who had died in an accident, I immediately thought, "Oh poor guy!" It's normal for parents to die before their kids, even if it hurts a lot to lose them, but for kids to die before their parents? My parents lost a baby boy not even a month old after me, and my mom said that she cried alone in her kitchen because there were no support groups for grieving parents back then.
You're lucky! I had neighbors who would blare their music, scream, fight, party until sometimes 5am blocking people's driveways. Ask them nicely to move cars or turn things down & you'd be called every name in the book. Call the cops & that didn't help, they had a police scanner
The old Honey vs Vinegar trick --- worked like a charm. Congrats Candice on playing it the right way. Plus he's cute as ... ahem ....he's cute. BUT, I think it is unfortunate that people need to be TOLD they are not living in an isolated farm where their music volume wouldn't matter. In apartment dwelling it is a given that everyone can hear you sneeze. LOL
How I wish wish wish that something this civilized was possible with my selfish neighbors.
What a great story and remarkable woman. I love that she made him a *POUND* cake! XD
As my mother always told me, "Remember you will always get more with honey than with vinegar." I have never forgotten that and I wish I would remember it more often. lol
I like that she made him pound cake, which at 4am was more likely "go pound" cake.
Absolutely! The stories we write about others, if only we could stop and read their script, it would make such a big difference. This story uplifted and blessed me. It reminded me once again, not to be too quick to judge other people, and to correct with kindness, if it is even to correct at all.
You, Woman are a LEGEND! My heart goes out to Tommy. That is so unbearably sad. Your kindness is a wonderful thing. I will remember this before I judge a situation that I may not understand.
Candice showed true grace and kindness, with a little humor, and it seems she has made a friend. Way to go, Candice: may your grace and poise be an example to us all!!
Better with pound cake, instead of sour grapes, I would love to hear, Happy ever after !!!
Omg, this made me cry. Thank you pound cake goddess for the beautiful lesson.
It's great that it worked out for her, but it won't work so well most of the time. Anyone who ever plays their music loud enough for others to hear KNOW that it annoys people already. So, those type of people usually aren't up for someone telling them they can't do it, no matter how nicely you say it. Explaining that they are annoying or harming people does nothing because they DON'T CARE, or they wouldn't be doing it to begin with. There might be rare exceptions, but that is how it goes. Some people should not be allowed to live in society. This includes people who play loud music during day or night.
More updates please this is the first story that I really liked I would love to hear this friendship bloom into something more
Omg this is such a scrumptious story. That cake looks good like some greasy turd tits
It turns out you are the real monster. Get therapy. Now.
