Dog Waits 4 Years In The Same Spot Until He Finally Gets Reunited With Owners Who Lost Him

The saying “A dog is a man’s best friend” is something a lot of people would agree with. There are hundreds of stories about dogs whose love for their human is stronger than any obstacle.

Recently, the story of Leo, a dog from Thailand, went viral. His owners accidentally left the poor pooch near a gas station. From that day on, Leo never left that place and patiently waited four long years until the return of his family.

People tried to help Leo, he was thin and starving. It seemed like he developed some sort of skin disease. A 45-year-old woman named Saowalak fed him as much as she could and took him home, but every time Leo escaped and was found in the same spot by the road. So she gave up and just brought food for him next to the road.

Another concerned citizen named Anuchit Uncharoen took to social media to try to find Leo’s owners. In his post, he uploaded some pictures and mentioned that the dog has been waiting four years for his lost owner.

The good folk of the internet shared the post and a miracle happened, the real family of Leo found him. They contacted Anuchit Uncharoen and told him that Leo looks like BonBon – the dog they lost four years ago in 2015. The family tried to search for their dog after they realized he had gone missing, but didn’t manage to find him and assumed the worst.

BonBon was really happy to see his family, but surprisingly not willing to follow them home. It seemed like he decided to stay with the woman that has been caring for him for the past four years. The family supported BonBon’s decision and let him stay with Saowalak.

The family promised to help take care of BonBon, come visit and help pay for any vet bills.

Everyone on social media was surprised and confused, but happy that BonBon finally got to see his old family and found a new home.

I wonder if she was able to take him home without him running off again? And how the heck do you not go back to the last place you had your dog with you to look for him? Maybe I am been judgemental but 4 years is a long time.

"accidental" sounds fishy. If I accidentally forget someone that I love I do search for him or her, and if it was the last thing I would do.

I don't understand how the original owners didn't find him seeing as the dog was in the same spot for 4 years. I have a feeling that they either left him behind on purpose or didn't really try hard enough to look for him. Just seems fishy to me. Hopefully he will be happy in his new home and that he doesn't run away again.

"His owners accidentally left the poor pooch near a gas station" WTF. Sorry, but I cringe seeing s**t like this. my friend had an accident while driving with her two dogs and they ran off from the car crash site. We (meaning around 20 people) have searched a range of 50 square km to find them, and we did. Took us 8 days of constant work day and night. YOU DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET BEHIND. ffs.

The dog been missing and you don't look for them? I don't believes their story, If that was their dog they claim, why the dog don't go with them. I don't think that was their dog.

I'm confused about her allowing him to stay put (?). Did she try to take him home at all? There's a chance she doesn't live close to that area so obviously he wouldn't have been able to escape back to that same spot, I think I'm missing something. I wish there was a video of the reunion because the actual pic makes it look like the dog's indifferent to her. Also, does this mean he wasn't actually waiting for his owner seeing how he wasn't interested in going home with him.

This dog is waiting for closure with his previous owner. Sometime you just stuck in the same place, thinking if you get back what you lost, you'll be happy but when he saw them, I guess it register to him "nah, it's time to move on".

You don't just forget your dog (best friend) and leave him somewhere, and if you did you'd be straight back there looking for him, cause if they did he would have been right there waiting for them. I'm delighted he didn't go back with them, no love there at all, their faces say it all.

I like that this story has a realistic ending. The dog was not waiting there, it was just hanging out there - for whatever reason. Life often does not have a happy ending but just an 'ok, that's how it is, now' ending.

Who loses their dog at a gas station and doesn't go back for 4 years to look for him? I think this dog was abandoned, not lost. Responsible pet owners have collars on their dogs with their information, in the event that this happens and they lose a family member, they can get them back. Dogs are fiercely loyal and we do not deserve them.

I feel like a lot of details are missing from this story. I am very happy that Bonbon gets a happy ending, but how in the world do you "accidentally" leave your dog at a gas station and not find him despite the poor dog remaining in the same area for four years? Wouldn't your first instinct as owners be to return to the gas station to search? I generally love stories of long lost animals reuniting with their owners, however, I'm sorry but something seems a bit fishy...
