Even though dogs are known for their keen sense of smell and can sniff their way out of any situation, they can sometimes get lost too. It seems that it ain’t always as easy as putting your nose to work, so what is a dog to do if he gets lost? Well, of course sniffing their way to any other familiar place and finding help there.
This is exactly what happened with Khiew Ngern, a four-month-old pup who wandered off away from its owner and subsequently got lost. But, being the smart little doggie that he is, he decided to trace his footsteps back to a more familiar place—the vet.

Meet Khiew Ngern, the four-month-old mixed black bull terrier pup from Bangkok, Thailand, who managed to get himself lost one day.
As it turns out, his owner lets Khiew and her other dogs roam free while she works at the Bai Mai Kitchen restaurant. It was exactly then that the curious doggie took off and lost his way back, inevitably spending over 6 hours wandering the streets of Bangkok until he got a clever idea.
Plan B was a bit of an unorthodox choice for dogs—Khiew traced his footsteps to his vet!

While he couldn’t find his way back home or to the restaurant, Khiew instead went to another location that has become very familiar to him over his short lifetime—his veterinary clinic. You see, Khiew has been a regular at this clinic—being a four-month-old pupper, he’s been going there frequently to get his scheduled vaccine shots.
Most dogs would tend to avoid places like the vet. Khiew, however, knew he’d get help there, so he sniffed his way to the Phuttaraksa Animal Clinic and started trying to get the attention of the various vets there.

Security footage shows Khiew scratching and barking at the clinic’s windows and glass door, sniffing around the premises and sitting in wait until any of the professionals notice. And that they did—one of the members of staff, the doctor’s assistant, took notice of the doggo and soon let him in when he recognized the dog as Khiew.
The dog was a bit reluctant to enter at first, but was otherwise happy to be let inside and cared for. It didn’t take long for the staff to contact Khiew’s owners and to let them know that Khiew had found his way to the clinic. The owner soon got to the clinic and was reunited with her adorable puppy.
The vet’s assistant recognized Khiew, let him in, and soon called the owner, as seen in the security camera footage that was shared on Facebook
The clinic shared the story on their Facebook page with pictures and the video of Khiew knocking on their door. And it took off, making headlines throughout the internet.
Apart from the story being picked up by a number of media news outlets and receiving much attention there, the video also managed to get over 580,000 views on Facebook with more than 16,000 reactions, thousands of shares and comments.
Khiew was soon reunited with his owner

Our neighbors had a big black lab named Maggie that wouldn't stay confined to their yard. She'd break free and roam around. She'd stop by our house and bang on the sliding glass door to be let in. She'd run right to the cat bowl and eat whatever was in there and then take a nap in the living room before asking to be let out to continue her travels. One night she woke us up around 2 a.m. I guess she couldn't rouse anyone at home so she came to our door and barked to be let in. She was so tired she didn't even go to the cat bowl just flopped down and went to sleep. They moved a while ago. I really miss that dog.
My biggest concern is why no one is wearing shoes in that vet clinic!! lol I worked at a vet clinic for years... and I can assure you... shoes are very needed lol That's how you get parasites :/
I agree, but we're discussing southeast Asia, not Canada or Denmark. Different hygiene and health standards. More akin to Wal-Mart than Whitehall.

Where my relatives live in another country, their dog named Rocky ran away from home as a young dog after his favorite person - my grandpa - passed away. He got lost so he went to his previous owners home, which was in a whole other city. That was a few years ago but now he's living with his new family and we reunited during my trip there.
Shortly after I moved into a new house about a mile south of my daughter's, I took my chihuahua-mix dog to my daughter's house because the bug sprayers were coming here. In about 45 minutes, Cece showed up at my front gate. He had gotten out of the gate at my daughter's house (a place he had never been before), and managed to find his way back to a place that was fairly new to him.
Wonderful! Now put a tag on that little collar that says 'Bertha's Banh Mai Shop, please return if far away PS: I'm Khiew!'
Or don't leave your dogs roaming the streets while you work. Surely they could get run over quite easily. The traffic in Thailand is crazy.

My dogs used to dig out under the fence and run around the neighborhood. When they got tired of being outside, they'd sit on the front porch and bark to be let in. One day, Chase was out and on the porch. But every time I opened the door to let her in, she took off. I decided she could spend the night out there; I had had enough and was going to bed. Some time during the night I woke up to find her in my bed. The little turd climbed back under the fence, through the doggy door and into bed. After that, I never let her in the front door again. She let herself out, she could let herself in!! She's been dead a little over a year and I a miss her every single day. I'm 54 and got my first tattoo three weeks ago in her honor.
So smart! I love my dog but she's stupid. She would never find any place whatsoever, so I'm thankful for the micro chip.

My dog got out the back fence and when I opened the front door to go look for him, there he was. He just went around to the front and was waiting to be let in.
We live in the country. Many years ago, a black bear flattened our fence and Travis, our Border Collie, said, "Oh, good! Now I can take a road trip!" Our local police patrol spotted Travis and opened their car door. As soon as Travis jumped in, they realized he'd been skunked! They brought him home, anyway, and my husband told them to have their now-stinky car professionally cleaned and we would pay for it. "Not necessary," they said, "we'll just leave the car windows open, and the night air will get rid of the skunk smell." Well, it poured rain all night. The cleaning bill was a killer!
