This Baby Was Born With A Birthmark Which Turned Her Into “Little Superhero”
When Natalie Jackson was born four months ago, her parents admitted that they were “filled with panic.” Although doctors said the tiny baby was completely healthy, she arrived with a dark birthmark on face, which is expected to grow as the baby girl does.
But her parents‘ love for the uniquely beautiful baby soon conquered the fear and little Natalie was actually dubbed a “little superhero” since her birthmark resembles a Batman and Robin-style domino mask. Although Natalie‘s parents know that she might be facing some difficulties in the future, they agreed not to have the birthmark removed and embrace her unique and different looks. “Her mark means she is going to be strong no matter what life throws at her,” says Lacey. “People tell us how amazing her birthmark is and what a cute baby she is, and we couldn’t agree more.”
When the girl was a week old, she was taken to see an ophthalmologist (eye disease diagnostician) check if the birthmark isn’t causing any damage to her vision. She also had some other important consultations. Even though the face mask resembling birthmark might slightly increase the risk of developing melanoma in the future, it was a relief for the parents to find out that everything is fine.
This happy baby’s whole family, including her two brothers, ages 7 and 4, couldn’t be more delighted with the beautiful “superhero” baby and are prepared to stand behind her back no matter what. “We’ll always tell her it’s a part of who she is and who she is supposed to be. People will always know how special she is with her birthmark and how amazing she is inside and out.”

Hopefully the girl will appreciate her parent's decision and embrace her looks, otherwise there will be a lot of anger over her parent's decision.
She is very cute and looks such a happy little soul. It's a monumental decision to have to make on someone else's behalf, particularly with the increased risk of melanoma, even if it is slight. It might not be so easy to remove if she wants to later in life but I expect the family have been advised accordingly. May her superhero status carry her far.

She's a beautiful, healthy, and adorably happy baby, but that birth mark is going to be an impediment the second she reaches socializing ages. I feel terrible for her.
My thoughts exactly..He parents."embrace her unique and different looks." Nobody else will. Wake up!

She had had it done using her own money because it was literally ruining her life. She said school was the worst. She was bullied mercilessly everyday and called the most horrible names and no one wanted to be friends with her because the rumour went around that the birthmark was catching. This was in Elementary school. High school was even worse. And the bullying was as much physical as vocal. Things got so bad she even attempted suicide twice. Even then her parents wouldn't let her have the birthmark removed despite her councillor pleading with them. And they could well afford to. When she left school she found it hard to get work she decided to use her trust fund money to get the birthmark removed. She has now cut off all contact with her parents because she blames them for her horrible childhood. They don't know where she lives or does now and as she says, never will.
I sincerely hope her parents didn't parade her in front of the world's media as a newborn

Other kids are going to bully her RELENTLESSLY!!! I would love to live in a world in which that is not the case! But, its not going to be all butterflies and moonbeams for HER!!
Yeah, cute for now, not so cute when the kid goes to school & gets the s**t kicked out of it. Remove that thing early.
Will these challenges make her stronger? Possibly. They might also send her over the edge. If there's an option to remove it's unfair to the child not to. Kids are cruel enough when you don't stand out like this.
slight scarring that fades over time is so much more preferable to this for the rest of your life

Just out of curiousity I googled the baby's name and there were a huge amount of hits - interviews/articles in newspapers etc. I would like to think the money paid will go for the future benefit of the sweet child

"Some difficulties"?! How shortsighted and selfish can you get? As the a mom of a cleft-affected teen, I've seen first hand the cruelty and rejection kids with facial differences deal with constantly. I've done everything I possibly can to get my son the surgeries that he needs. Why on earth would someone knowingly put their child through the torment they will face, especially as a teenager, when they have options to avoid it altogether?
This looks like a congenital melanocytic nevus. The chances of developing melanoma may be small but, when malignant melanoma occurs in a person with a congenital melanocytic nevus, it is often aggressive and difficult to treat. This probably isn't really something the parents should ignore. Lovely little tot.
I believe that when the baby is old enough like maybe when she is more concerned with her looks like preteen age, she will want to get rid of the mark. It shouldn't be the moms choice to say she won't get rid of it. She can make that choice now, but ultimately, when she gets older, I believe she will want to get rid of it just so she won't have to handle the unnecessary stress, ridicule, bullying etc.
I would be pissed if my parents made decision like that which affected my looks
I really hope they don't constantly force her birthmark to be her identity . “We’ll always tell her it’s a part of who she is and who she is supposed to be”. She could grow up to feel an extreme pressure to not remove it even under the harshest of bullying.
it shouldnt even be an issue for a child - remove it now if possible - let her be a normal girl

Let's be perfectly honest here, would you put that mark on your face and live rest of your life with that? And when answer me, please be perfectly honest.

Kids are cruel. It's part of how they learn to socialize. I had strawberry birthmarks on me, plus I'm legally blind and have a lazy eye. So I know. This little girl, she's going to be just fine! She's going to grow up and be strong, smart, and a powerhouse when it comes to setting people straight! All my love and best wishes to this shining little star-- she's gong to be a supernova!!
Just had to ask -why would someone criticise my opinion of the right of a sereverly challenged baby to have the right to grow up in anonimity - and call me disgraceful for suggesting this?
the baby's name is now out there - and i dont think it should have been done - end of rant

a child who ONCE had a birthmark is not as interesting - or as worthy of discussion/interviews and articles

I'm hoping the parents will think again about what their child may end up dealing with. It's a cruel world and it's wrong that it should matter but, sadly, for too many people it does.
Leaving a birthmark lile that when you have the option to have it removed just so you can be the face of an "inspirational" story on the internet is rediculous. 15 minutes later no one will care except the baby who will live the rest of her life never being able to set foot outside without thinking she's being judged by every single person who looks at her. Talk about a recipe for lifelong mental problems. SAD
'some difficulties' - understatement of the year. The child is super cute, but my heart clenches at what's in store for her :-(
sorry - on a rant - if a parent chooses to embrace their childs disability or disfigurement - and chose not to have the child's problem improved medically - thats up to them (the child has no legal rights) - but to then contact the world's media on the basis that their child is so abnormal that people want to see her because of the way she looks -that is just so wrong
just keep her privacy -the world doesnt need to see and comment on the looks of a 4 month baby with a facial issue

Her parents are standing behind her it seems from day one. I'm sure that if when she is older that she decides that she wants the birthmark removed, they will stand behind her choice as well. I think that they are thinking into the future, and allowing her to make the choices that affect her own body, which is an amazing thing.
My sister had a large birthmark on her arm removed as it was giving her a higher risk of cancer according to the military doctors. I still think it's weird to see her without that mark!

She has a mighty fierce soul. You can see it in those little eyes. More power to you, supergirl.
Wishful thinking today will not save her from being stared at, shunned and bullied tomorrow.
