I'm Chesca Hause—a mom who loves drawing cartoon animals. I managed to throw the two things together to create Litterbox Comics!

With the craziness of the past few months, I've been using my comics as somewhat of an escape. Humor is an important coping mechanism for me, so I've decided there is no pandemic in the "Litterverse." This lets the animals carry on with normal life and gives my readers a welcome break, even if just for a minute!

This is my 5th feature on Bored Panda (here are Part 1Part 2, and Part 3, and Part 4). These are my most recent comics.

Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tapas, or Webtoons, and you'll find bonus panels to a lot of these!

Tsk tsk tsk. Had to learn the hard way, lol. It is some of the stuff nightmares are made of. For those that are curious about hyena births, female physical anatomy is similar to that of a male meaning they have to squeeze a grapefruit through a birth canal 1 inch in diameter and out of something the size of a small pencil. Baby mortality rate is high due to suffocation during the birthing process. Hopefully that wasn't too harsh of a visual.

Anyone else notice the egg in the baby seat, waiting to be hatched? Or were you too distracted Googling hyena births? I love the expression on the hyena's face. She looks traumatised just thinking about it.

she did get one thing wrong though in her comic, she referred to her as "MRS." Male Hyena's do not stick around and help rear the child. Sad.... :(

Male cats usually don't stick around either. I think in this comic universe all animals copy human social norms a bit more often than not.

Female hyenas have three times more testosterone than males, which results in a peculiar and risky labor process. Female hyenas give birth through their clitoris, also called a pseudo-penis. The birth canal of a hyena is only about one inch across, and consequently, many hyena babies do not survive

You know, I always knew the females had psuedo-penises, but never thought about the fact that they'd have to give BIRTH through them. Until now, that is. 0_o

read at your own risk: "Female hyenas have three times more testosterone than males, which results in a peculiar and risky labor process.
