The New Lion King Posters Show Actors Facing Off Their Characters And It Looks Badass
25 years after its initial release, The Lion King movie still remains the highest-earning G-rated movie of all time. However, following the success of The Jungle Book movie remake, Disney has taken on a challenge to reboot the all-time classic too. Will the new photorealistic computer-animated Disney movie beat the traditionally animated one? Only time will tell. But there’s not much time left to find out since the Lion King remake premiere is just around the corner.
The new version of Disney movie classic directed by Jon Favreau will hit theaters on the 19th of July. Just in time for that, Disney released striking photos of the famous actors who did voice acting in this movie posing face-to-face with their characters.
Do you already know who will voice your favorite characters in The Lion King remake?
50 days before the release of The Lion King movie, Disney shared posters introducing the main characters and the voices behind them. People were surprised to know that American actor, comedian, and performer Donald Glover will star as the main character Simba. The Beyhive started buzzing after it was announced that Nala will be voiced by famous singer Beyoncé.
Nala with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter
Donald Glover with Simba
Zazu, Pumbaa, and Timon with John Oliver, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner
Chiwetel Ejiofor with Scar
Eric André, Florence Kasumba, and Keegan-Michael Key with hyenas Azizi, Shenzi, and Kamari
Alfre Woodard with Sarabi
Nala and Simba with Shahadi Wright Joseph and JD McCrary
James Earl Jones will once again voice Mufasa, the King of the Pride Lands and the father of Simba.

Share on FacebookBeyoncé shouldn’t have been cast in this movie, or any movie really. She’s known for her hostility towards animals and people who defend animals. She’s known for her use of fur. I’m not heavy into Lion King but that’s a hard pass.
That one is my favorite...it looks like they have an actual bond in the pic...

And I think Beyonce is a very talented singer and performer but she is a terrible actress. I don’t get why they would cast her other than name recognition. She probably won’t even change her very obvious southern accent.
I'm pretty upset they changed up the hyena trio's names... one of my dogs is named Shenzi, the other is named Shatani (based on Vavani, a censor of the Swahili word for Satan that was also the name of a lion in the lion king two: simba's pride) but we sometimes call her Ed. Those hyenas are such a staple villain, why change their names?
i was rather disappointed there was no james earl jones facing off against his mufasa.....
I'm still disappointed in Scar and how he looks, and how boring it all looks so far. There's just no way to get such realistic CG to have the same level of emotion that the 2D animation had. If I wanted to watch real (or real-looking) lions interacting, I'd go watch NatGeo.
Yeah, human's aren't calibrated to understand the subtleties of animal emotion. Which is why animation humanises the characters and makes them far more understandable

I haven't been up to date with news about this movie but..... did they change the hyenas' names..??
I noticed that too. Animated version is Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. But whatever I guess. Should still be amazing.

It's a good thing this story focuses on lions and not apes ... or it could get awkward.
