When A Student’s Baby Started Crying In Class, This Professor Had The Best Response Ever
Professor Sydney Engelberg, a 45-year lecturing veteran at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, was unfazed when the child of a mother at his lecture on organizational behavior began to cry. The embarrassed mom tried to leave the class, but instead, the father-of-four and grandfather-of-five scooped the kid up and soothed him in his arms – without missing a beat in the lesson.
According to his daughter, Engelberg allows the mothers that attend his masters’ lectures to bring their children and even breastfeed. No mother should have to choose between a child and an education!

A mom stood up to leave Prof. Engelberg’s lecture when her baby wouldn’t stop crying
Instead, however, the professor took the child into his arms and continued teaching – as if nothing had happened
“The way he sees the concept of getting education is not only learning the dry facts that you need to learn in class, but also learning values,” wrote his daughter, Sarit Fishbaine

Share on FacebookWhat about if there are more than one babies, I should think the universities and/or colleges have their creche facilities within the campus
Our university has it's own kindergarden right behind the main building, so that none of the students has to bring their kid to class. :)
What do students do if they have an exclusively breast fed baby? I've always wondered what new moms do in this situation while taking classs

I commend this teacher. Sometimes you can't find a sitter or they just flake. Education is necessary to progress. TY
What an awesome professor and person. Such intelligence and understanding. There's not many men like him, anymore. A dieing breed..
This is using the God-given talent to it's fullest and truly walking out his talk!
Cool guy. Even better would be child care facilities at reduced fees for parents to get an education.
With how much college costs just to begin with. Child care should be included in tuition
Load More Replies...My mum used to take me when she was at uni in the late 80's. Her professors would do the same thing, i wish it happened more!
This is awesome sauce.grandads even when teaching no what to do.
Amen and halleluia! If there were more than one, someone else could step in. Sometimes it just takes a new set of arms to get the child to stop crying. It breaks their chain of thought; they are curious as to why it happened; they wonder who this is holding them etc.
Amazing story! Thanks to professors like Sydney Engelberg, more moms will be encouraged to go to college. Having kids should not really be a hindrance in finishing college. Salute to the moms in college and to Professor Sydney!
This is how a true educator behaves with his students. Bravo to this professor
I think some of you are missing the point. Sure, a creche is great but if you have a newborn they won't take them. I work in early childhood and the youngest we accept is 3 months.
They should think of kids and parents across the board, not just in schools like in the E.R. waiting rooms, etc.
The university I attended had and still has it's own nursery for students to put their children into while they attended lectures.
Here are four choices for the college moms: Day Care, Keeping legs closed, Birf Control or Mouth can't get pregnant
Most of these are compound words or phrases and can actually be translated (at least in my language)
You don't look like someone who could attend a university anyway
