For Months, This Woman Mistakenly Kept Leaving Her Dog At This Office Thinking It’s A Dog Daycare

No pet owner likes leaving their best four-legged friend alone while they’re at work. We’ve all heard about separation anxiety and stuff, and who would want to put their beloved pets through that? Thanks to doggie sitters and daycares, you can now make sure your pupper is all loved and taken care of while you’re running errands.

But since pet-friendly offices are now a thing, they honestly may look like a dog care facility to an outsider. Trust me, I work at one.

So this crazy story about a dog named Otis is coming from one office worker who goes by the Reddit handle u/SwarmTendon. Posted on the subreddit r/IDontWorkHereLady, it received 19.9k upvotes and became a serious hit on the platform. You can suspect what it’s all about already—see if you were right down below.

One Reddit user shared this crazy story of a woman dropping her dog off at their office thinking it was a dog daycare

A 2012 study on what impact dogs have on employees, published in the International Journal of Workplace Health Management and conducted by researchers at the Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Human-Animal Interaction, showed some surprising results. It turned out, having dogs around while at work has multiple and consistent benefits for employees in all ranges of fields.

One of the study authors, Dr. Randolph Barker, PhD, who is a Professor of Management at the VCU School of Business, named dogs in a workplace “a social lubricant.” Incredibly, the employees who normally didn’t engage in conversations felt a stronger sense of belonging and started sharing a connection.

Dog-friendly workplaces also turned out to be a great way for recruiting millennial workers, known as a pet-loving generation.

And people couldn’t believe how wholesome this story is

I used to work in a place that allowed dogs but didn't have my own at the time - I'd also have loved to have had an Otis dropped in with me just like this person!

I can picture it on Seinfeld too with the Kramer being the guy in the office who takes in the dog and charges the lady $20 per day.

Kindness - this is an example of pure kindness. (And maybe a little bit of selfishness to be able to have the dog around, but hey-win, win.)

I could do that. Either bring Otis in or accept Otis. Sounds simple to me.

The title of this BP post sounded preposterous, but it turned out to be a great story!

Brilliant story, love it! Can Otis count yet? One wag for yes, 2 wags for no...oh he's gone to sleep, but that's fine.

I can tell you UK prices - about £23 a day. Probaby varies a lot across the country though.

This story is awesome! But also if I convert currencies, $20 a day for a doggie daycare sounds insane, that works out more than my human child's school fees per week.

That's an adorable story. However, just think of most places start allowing dogs. Such a huge problem for people with allergies. A person shouldn't have to end up unable to find a job because they can't find one without dogs. Or feeling like they have a cold every single day because some people want to have fun at work. It's just so wrong.
