My sister in law called me one day and asked if I could take a few photos of her and her Bullmastiff, Alf. I was devastated when she told me that Alf was just diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. We decided to spend an afternoon together and I would follow them with my camera.
I wanted to capture their special relationship and all the activities that they loved doing together, while Alf was still able to move and was in good spirits.
So we headed to the meadows where she used to take him for walks, did a little picnic there, Alf had some snacks as he always did to stay motivated. He just loved humans’ snacks. And he loved taking long naps too.
They took her convertible for a ride and he sat on the passenger seat, next to her as he would always do.
Dori is wonderful with dogs, they are more than just family members to her. She took in several Bullmastiffs from shelters throughout the years. She always chose the older or disabled ones to make them happy by providing them a loving home.
Alf is not with us anymore, he passed away very soon, just a few weeks after the photoshoot but he will forever exist in these special photographs and in our hearts.
