The internet has it out for Kim Kardashian after her recent controversial and inflammatory comment in an interview with Variety: “I have the best advice for women in business: Get your [effing] ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”

The outrage was huge, dear Pandas. Some people were appalled by Kim’s comments, and found them delusional, condescending, insulting, and out of touch with reality. Meanwhile, others couldn’t believe that they were hearing advice from a woman who was born into riches. At the end of the day, women are working incredibly hard and they didn’t take too kindly to being looked down on by Kim. However, some folks share the opinion that Kim does in fact work hard, but that hard work doesn't always lead to success.

Scroll down to see how the internet reacted and share your own thoughts about Kim’s comment, as well as the Kardashians.

Entertainment, pop culture, and lifestyle expert Mike Sington, Hollywood's Ultimate Insider, was kind enough to share his thoughts about Kim's comment with Bored Panda.

"I thought Kim’s comments were way out of line. She came from a family of wealth and privilege, which gave her an advantage the vast majority of women don’t have. The Kardashian interview with Variety was fascinating, because it really got inside the business of being a Kardashian, and it didn’t seem like anything was being held back," he told us. Read on for Mike's full interview about the Kardashian brand with us, Pandas!

Celebrity expert Mike, from Los Angeles, told Bored Panda that the Kardashian brand is all about creating drama. "All of it is amplified for the media to create more interest in the family, which feeds the machine. It’s a never-ending cycle," he explained that it's a self-sustaining process where the more attention the Kardashians get, well, the more attention they end up with in the future.

Mike revealed to us that he's "honestly stunned" that interest in the Kardashian family has lasted as long as it has. "I give them a lot of credit for maintaining that interest over so many years and parlaying it into a massively successful business," he said that credit has to be given where it's due.

"The audience definitely has a love/hate relationship with them. We love gawking over their wealthy and lavish lifestyles. But when we do, we see all the drama and seemingly how messed up they are, which makes us realize how good we actually have it."

Kim believes that she is being “factual” with her comments. “With all respect, and with love, I’m not, like, being a b****,” she told Variety.

Her response to the criticism that she and her family have gotten over the years that they’re ‘famous for being famous’ is, “Who gives a f***.”

“We focus on the positive. We work our asses off. If that’s what you think, then sorry. We just don’t have the energy for that. We don’t have to sing or dance or act; we get to live our lives—and hey, we made it. I don’t know what to tell you,” she said.

When rich people say "Nobody wants to work these days", they mean "I will fire any employee who stops working to eat or sleep".

Criticism of Kim came from all corners of the net. From your average social media users and well-known figures to businesswomen and even some insiders who used to work for the Kardashians. The general consensus was that the comment was tone-deaf or very limited in scope.

Some folks pointed out that Kim was suggesting that the type of wealth and success that she has can be reached if only you work hard enough. And even if you’re at your limit—exhausted—you might not be working hard enough if you’re not successful yet. But that kind of thinking is very limited in scope. It completely ignores the impact that being born into a wealthy family has on someone’s ventures.

What’s more, it’s demotivating to hear that nobody supposedly wants to work if you’re barely managing to make ends meet, working multiple jobs, and taking care of your family. All in all, it’s the type of comment that will likely go down in internet history as proof that some celebrities are completely out of touch. Not just with their fans, but with real-life as a whole.

Working hard is only one piece of the puzzle. Financial expert Sam Dogen, the founder of Financial Samurai, explained to Bored Panda a while back that the people who tend to brag about their work hours and how difficult they have it usually want to be validated in some shape or form.

“Working long after your colleagues are gone means nobody will see your hard work. Hence, you need to tell people about it because the results often take time to manifest. The irony is, if you have great results, there’s no need to tell anybody how hard you work,” Sam said.

This reminds me of when there was the GoFundMe to have Kylie reach a billion dollars. Lets ignore the fact that people actually contributed but what in the actual living f#@#@! Then they called her self-made.

The expert told us that the world is a very tough and competitive place. Working hard is required to get ahead, but it isn't enough by itself.

“In your 20s and 30s you need to work BOTH smarter AND harder, especially if you are of average intelligence. The world is a brutally competitive place with some of the smartest people also working the hardest. So working long hours while you’re still young and learning is a matter of practicality,” he shared his thoughts with Bored Panda.

“You can’t expect to go straight to the corner office without putting in your dues. At the same time, you can’t expect to outperform your peers simply through hard work. You have to be strategic by building a strong network of relationships internally and externally (clients) who will pull to get you promoted and help you get paid at your next job," Sam said.

THIS! They have the time and resources to do what they like...regular everyday 7-4 jobs don't. We don't have the time, the energy or the money.

He added that taking time off is very important in order to fight back against feeling burned out. You have to be very strategic about resting up. “Take sick days and mentally recharge. Don’t just think being ill is just a physical thing. There are plenty of mental illnesses. They are just not as visible. There is no better time than right now to take sick days due to the pandemic and the greater awareness of mental health issues. There is simply not shame in healing the mind!” he said.
