Pre car-ride checklist: keys, phone, wallet and baby? The Kardashians are experts on lighting up the internet and four years ago Kim Kardashian did exactly that, after a video circulated of her appearing to forget her daughter in the hotel lobby. Kim addressed the situation on Twitter after it happened, but just like Keeping Up With The Kardashian re-runs, people can’t seem to stop watching. The video re-appeared on Reddit and users took the opportunity to share their own “forgotten children” stories with the internet. From sports events to Walmart, Bored Panda has gathered the good, the bad and the hilarious tales of forgetful parents. (Cover image: Javier Rapoport)

parents can be trash. i was forgotten at elementary school one day. normally my mom picked me up within 30 minutes after school was out. 45 minutes after the final bell and most everyone was gone. no mom. so i went to the office that was still thankfully open and asked to call my mom. called her and "oh s**t i totally forgot!" heres a good point to remind i was in 5th grade and had been doing this for about 4 years. she said she would be on her way. i went back outside to wait.....another 30 minutes. no mom.......i go back to the office which is STILL open*god bless those people* they look surprised to see me and i tell them once again i need to call my mom. call her up. "oh s**t i forgot again!!!" yes. in her rush to get out of the office she completely forgot why she was leaving work and forgot about me again.....in the same day.....within 2 hours......

Parents can really muck up at times but twice on the same day? I feel for you.

I'll bet it was the moth-infestation that had her completely distracted.

Aw, some of these are sad. I did think mum was a bit harsh on the two where their sister got out of the car. Children forget things! How long does it take to cast your eye across the vehicle to make sure all are present? I might be a bit biased though - I got extremely fed up with looking after my badly behaved younger siblings.

You've got to wonder. Did she not check the seatbelts on the 4 year old's car seat were done up before driving off? She clearly didn't notice her missing when they all got out of the car at home either.

Well, sorry to spoil the fun, but: a few days ago, we had this story about the African immigrant whom they named spiderman, saving a four-year-old from falling. Yes, this four-year-old was "forgotten" deliberately, but to a small child being on their own deliberately or accidentally does not make any difference. For several of the stories it sounds like everything was under control, as the children were still in the care of others, but not for all of them. It is funny until something happens…

I re-read the stories. Some of the earlier ones, when friends, teachers, coaches etc. took care of the children make for nice family-stories. The last two are pretty sad, though.

Her excuse cracks me up... she "went to check on the car seat" you can see the exact moment she realizes she forgot the kid and she tried to play it off...people mess up but to get all indignant about it makes it that much more hilarious

Yes, I can't imagine "checking on car seats" being the job of someone with a personal assistant.

Being a single parent makes it harder to forget your kids.

I can't really find these stories funny. As a child I was forgotten by my dad quite a few times, all the way into my teen years. I can still remember feeling unwanted and abandoned and afraid and I'm 37 now.

In high school, I was in drama club which met twice a week and usually didn't get out until 6 or so. My parents were divorced and I lived with my mom so she was usually the one to pick me up, but one day she couldn't do it so my dad said he would instead. Apparently something came up at work so he told me he'd be sending "Uncle Johnny" to pick me up. Johnny was not actually my uncle, but one of the sketchy men who worked for my dad and who I had met exactly once in my life, an experience I did not wish to repeat. I called my mom terrified at the prospect of a car ride with Uncle Johnny, and she was rightly pissed at my dad. Thankfully, my grandma was able to pick me up not too long after, but it was still an unnerving prospect.

Nothing at work is more important than your kids - unless he was right in the middle of saving someone's life.

Besides: I do not "Remember that time Kim Kardashian West ‘forgot’ her daughter North". Wasn't that app that would filter any content only remotely related to the Kardashians just voted the most helpful app ever? I need that as a plug-in for Firefox...
