Pre car-ride checklist: keys, phone, wallet and baby? The Kardashians are experts on lighting up the internet and four years ago Kim Kardashian did exactly that, after a video circulated of her appearing to forget her daughter in the hotel lobby. Kim addressed the situation on Twitter after it happened, but just like Keeping Up With The Kardashian re-runs, people can’t seem to stop watching. The video re-appeared on Reddit and users took the opportunity to share their own “forgotten children” stories with the internet. From sports events to Walmart, Bored Panda has gathered the good, the bad and the hilarious tales of forgetful parents. (Cover image: Javier Rapoport)

It recently resurfaced and inspired others to share their hilarious stories of “forgotten children”
Kim (probably like many other parents) later had a good excuse, but the video will live on forever

Share on Facebookparents can be trash. i was forgotten at elementary school one day. normally my mom picked me up within 30 minutes after school was out. 45 minutes after the final bell and most everyone was gone. no mom. so i went to the office that was still thankfully open and asked to call my mom. called her and "oh s**t i totally forgot!" heres a good point to remind i was in 5th grade and had been doing this for about 4 years. she said she would be on her way. i went back outside to wait.....another 30 minutes. no mom.......i go back to the office which is STILL open*god bless those people* they look surprised to see me and i tell them once again i need to call my mom. call her up. "oh s**t i forgot again!!!" yes. in her rush to get out of the office she completely forgot why she was leaving work and forgot about me again.....in the same day.....within 2 hours......
Parents can really muck up at times but twice on the same day? I feel for you.
Load More Replies...I'll bet it was the moth-infestation that had her completely distracted.
Aw, some of these are sad. I did think mum was a bit harsh on the two where their sister got out of the car. Children forget things! How long does it take to cast your eye across the vehicle to make sure all are present? I might be a bit biased though - I got extremely fed up with looking after my badly behaved younger siblings.
You've got to wonder. Did she not check the seatbelts on the 4 year old's car seat were done up before driving off? She clearly didn't notice her missing when they all got out of the car at home either.
Load More Replies...Well, sorry to spoil the fun, but: a few days ago, we had this story about the African immigrant whom they named spiderman, saving a four-year-old from falling. Yes, this four-year-old was "forgotten" deliberately, but to a small child being on their own deliberately or accidentally does not make any difference. For several of the stories it sounds like everything was under control, as the children were still in the care of others, but not for all of them. It is funny until something happens…
I re-read the stories. Some of the earlier ones, when friends, teachers, coaches etc. took care of the children make for nice family-stories. The last two are pretty sad, though.
Load More Replies...Her excuse cracks me up... she "went to check on the car seat" you can see the exact moment she realizes she forgot the kid and she tried to play it off...people mess up but to get all indignant about it makes it that much more hilarious
Yes, I can't imagine "checking on car seats" being the job of someone with a personal assistant.
Load More Replies...In high school, I was in drama club which met twice a week and usually didn't get out until 6 or so. My parents were divorced and I lived with my mom so she was usually the one to pick me up, but one day she couldn't do it so my dad said he would instead. Apparently something came up at work so he told me he'd be sending "Uncle Johnny" to pick me up. Johnny was not actually my uncle, but one of the sketchy men who worked for my dad and who I had met exactly once in my life, an experience I did not wish to repeat. I called my mom terrified at the prospect of a car ride with Uncle Johnny, and she was rightly pissed at my dad. Thankfully, my grandma was able to pick me up not too long after, but it was still an unnerving prospect.
Nothing at work is more important than your kids - unless he was right in the middle of saving someone's life.
Load More Replies...We left my youngest brother behind one time. To be fair, six noisy kids and it was hard to tell if one was missing, lol. They turned around almost immediately and went back to get him. They knew he was missing because he was the noisiest one.
i got forgotten at a pool at a college where I was with my brothers and his friends swimming. the mom that picked us up left me.. I was the only gir (maybe in locker room)l/very little, maybe she didn't know? give credit to my brother who rode his bike all the way back to pick me up...as he was trying to talk me into riding double down this huge main road hill, no thank you, the mom showed up! thank goodness...
The story of Darkgamer0000 makes me think I might have additional (half) siblings from my Mum as well. It sure sounds something she'd do.... On the other hand, my Dad managed to forget my name when he tried to pick me up from Kindergarten. They had to phone my Mum and ask her if it would be possible that her husband forgets the name of their only child. She asked if he had ask for 'Alice'. They said yes, so I could go home with my Dad. In his defence, every single first born woman in his family is called Alice except for me.
When I was 4 or 5, my dad had to pick me from a class (it was at school but wasn't compulsory, just an extra class in the afternoon) and take me to another in an academy. Well... The First Class finishes and I walk out school hoping he will be almost there. Since he didn't come and it was a one way street, I walk to the next corner. I remember looking at my Mickey Mouse watch and thinking I was late for the next class. Hours passed by, and the teachers finished their activities, so they came out to find me sitting on the street with a sad face. I told them everything and they called home (no cell phones at that time). The nanny came to take me home later (mum and dad both worked the whole day everyday). That night, when my dad came home from work, he didn't even know he had forgotten me. He came and tried to hug me or something. I was so angry!!! He doesn't laugh when we talk about this.
The first one: Dad: "I got Chinese food!" Mom: "That's great, but what about your son?" XD
Considering her kids are just an accessory to her, yes I believe you forgot your kid.
My 3 older brothers left me in the woods once on a camping trip. But I found my way back to their disappointment .
My mother went to pick my toddler brother up from a birthday party and started chatting up some of the other parents. They were all hippies (this being the 70s) and decided to light up and talk about the old days. She wasn't worried...her kid was right there, playing. It was a couple hours before she remembered she had ANOTHER child.
Used to walk home from school alone from age 5. Would get home, unlock front door and put my bag inside. Most of the time there was no one home and I had to walk 4 doors down to my grandma's place. She liked to garden and, when the weather was good, would forget to listen out for me or unlock the gate so I could get in. Many times she said I hadn't turned up when I had, I made so much noise the neighbours asked me to go away. I have gone to nearby friends most often(2 houses), my piano teacher when friends were out, and once all the way back to school where the headmistress took me home with her and phoned my home until there was an answer. Still wasn't allowed to stay home alone.
lol. When I was 6, my family left me at the airport when they picked up my brother's exchange student. There was so much confusion, tons of kids and teenagers, the exchange students didn't speak much English. They all left in one big group and I couldn't keep up with the big people (I was TINY) and I just watched them walk out the doors ahead of me. I was so scared I couldn't speak, I just stood there astonished for five minutes until my mom finally realized she was missing a little one and returned.
it's a funny story, but some of the 'forgotten child' stories in my country I've heard didn't end well for the child. one story is about a parent who was suppose to send the toddler to daycare but forgot and went straight to work place, parked where there's no roof. the parent didn't have their phone with them when the daycare ppl called to check. the kid died of heat stroke. now, even me being childless, I always made sure to check the backseat whenever I park. it's a nightmare.
Wow! That hotel Kim K stayed at must have a SERIOUS moth infestation!
I mean...North was still in the hotel, but it appears that something else happened. Maybe someone else was supposed to bring her to the car.
