We’ve all been there — our parents do something so embarrassing that we can’t help but cringe and hide our faces. But after an hour or two, we calm down and we realize that we may have overreacted. What’s more, we realize that we’ll probably end up with a few embarrassing stories for our kids as well. It’s just the natural order of things. But some kids can’t forgive their parents for what they’ve done, and went for public shaming online for their ‘insane’ behavior.

Behold! Here’s a list of the craziest, most jaw-droppingly, and unbelievably crazy stories kids have chosen to shame their parents online for, all found on the popular Insane Parents subreddit, which has lots of bad parenting stories. From overprotective parents tracking your location on dates to asking for money, there’s hardly a kid alive who could stand for this nonsense! So upvote your faves, share with your friends, and drop us a comment below. Oh, and scroll down to read our interviews with the head moderator of the Insane Parents subreddit, a Redditor whose mother put cameras in their bedroom, and another Reddit user whose mom asked for a huge loan!

We know you like our awesome posts about parenting and raising kids, so also be sure to check out our lists about the funniest parents ever, jerk parents who ruined their children’s lives, and the times parents shared the most messed up things their kids have done.

Sometimes Insane Is Just A Birth Defect!

hooman26 Report

Now, some of us have heard our parents joke about how they’ll install security cameras in our rooms if we can’t behave ourselves. Well, that’s exactly what one Reddit user’s mother did. Fortunately, the internet user didn’t give in. They wrote online that they’re doing something about it: “I've got into the account she’s using for the camera and disabled playback and sound recording. I'm also trying to move the camera to a point where it doesn't actually see anything.”

“If you haven't done anything to provoke [putting up] cameras or helicopter parenting, then I'm pretty sure you can call CPS [Child Protective Services] and they will help,” the Redditor told Bored Panda some advice on what to do in situations like this one.

Well that's a nice start she's giving her daughter. I looked Monat up and it's just another pyramid scheme that sells useless hairproducts. The mother will end up with a shedload of "hair care" products and the daughter will pursue a career in the fastfood business. Nice going, mom.

My Mom Is Putting Up Cameras In My Room Now

My Mom Is Putting Up Cameras In My Room Now

The Reddit user talked to Bored Panda about the unusual situation: “My mother is out quite a bit, so maybe that was the reason she put up the camera. Maybe she felt that she needed to watch me while she was out, but she never told me the exact reason.” They also said that they have “already confronted” their mother “with the argument that what she's doing is illegal and an invasion of privacy. So now I've taken them down and plan to keep taking the cameras down if she puts up more.”

For everyone saying that the parents may have a reason, I am 13 and have had cams in my room forever. I've never done anything even remotely bad enough to catalyst this invasion. She also gets all my texts through email, gets all my emails, and has such insane distrust for me that she won't even let me have Wikipedia.

Try to get help from other adults. What your mom is doing is so much not okay. And if you judge it won't cause a total overreaction, tape over the cams to make clear that that is your line you win't have crossed.

Masterbate infront of the camera or just get naked and she is now guilty of creating child pornography. If it uploads to a cloud server, she is now distributing child pornography.

As a parent, I had cameras in my kids' rooms while they were young and would sometimes be scared to get out of bed (monsters under the bed or whatever spooked them) But they knew the cameras were there and what the purpose of them were. After they got older, the cameras were taken out and thrown away in front of the kids to make sure they knew they had privacy. Neither of my kids ever had a problem with it, but it was used also in appropriate manner. If I wanted to make sure I could check on my kid and they were getting in a lot of trouble, they know I will not hesitate to remove the doors from the hinges as an extreme and last resort punishment But they would still have the bathroom or closet for privacy. Thankfully I've never had to do this so far and hope I never will.

The best way to loose the trust of your children's, do they also have a camera in your bedroom, they probably will be more shocked than what you spy on...... I have a daughter teenager and I will NEVER do this, we trust each other, have no secrets and that is gold.

The child is 26 year's old who won't move out. The reason for the cameras are because of how he makes his money. Yet he has a job at a cemetery he steals jewelry from fresh graves and all sorts of little investments he collects like Desert Storm trading cards. Also he returns "As Seen on TV knives" he didn't buy to Handy World for the reason of not being sharp enough to cut cans. WYI the a major loophole in the Handy World return policy is that they permit returns without receipts on items below $40.

In a bedroom, just like a loo, you have every possible expectation of privacy. Child, teenager or adult. This puts the adult in the class somewhere between paedos and peeping toms - illegal any way you look at it. This is s**t you just don't do... For small kids and toddlers, the audio monitor or popping your head in is ok, but after that?

Wishful thinking but is immediately ruined the minute the parent walks into the room and finds a picture in from of the camera. Plus there having to figure out what angle the camera is actually viewing the room at and what kind of lens. This is why things like this ONLY WORK IN MOVIES.

if the child is above a certain age in many countries it is illegal because it can be classed as child pornography because Kids do get undressed in their rooms and teenagers are at the age where they explore their bodies. So it is certainly very wrong.

What prompted the mother to do this? If the kid is using drugs or torturing the cat or having wild parties or, etc, this could be a perfectly reasonable step. I'm not a lawyer, but I doubt it's illegal to put cameras in your own house. Lots of people put security cameras in their house that will routinely see what other members of the family are doing. I would be quite surprised to learn that that is illegal.

We can understand why kids would be ashamed of their parents when they monitor them or ask for ridiculously large loans. But why is it that kids are embarrassed by their parents in general? Well, Fatherly writes that this embarrassment usually starts appearing between 9 and 13 years of age, right when a major shift in attitude occurs. As kids become more independent and try to figure out the ‘rules of the game’ in society, they reject what their parents stand for.

Meanwhile, Empowering Parents suggests that parents shouldn’t take things personally when kids act up and should give their offspring some space grow. And, whatever happens, we can all agree that setting up cameras in someone’s room should be avoided at all costs.
