Karen Calls The Cops On Driver She Crashed Into, Regrets It After They See The Surveillance Footage
Getting into a car accident is one of the fastest ways to ruin your day. Whether it was your fault or not, the hassle of dealing with a stranger and just crossing your fingers that they will be reasonable, calling the cops, exchanging insurance information, and scheduling repairs for your car can take a lot of energy. In most situations, it is pretty straightforward who is at fault and responsible, but the beauty of car insurance is that when you happen to have a bad day and bump into someone else, you should be covered.
And yet, there are always a few drivers who just don’t understand the rules of the road or the rules of social interactions. One man shared a story on the Entitled Parents subreddit detailing his nightmare experience with a Karen who could not take accountability for her actions. Below, you can read the full story that might make you want to rip your hair out, and then let us know in the comments what you think about it. And then if you’re looking for another Bored Panda piece featuring frustratingly entitled parents to read next, look no further than right here.

He later posted an update explaining that the Karen was even more upset than before
Car insurance is a beautiful thing. It may be expensive and a nuisance to pay each month, especially if you are a cautious driver, but it is always worth it to have. Not to mention that it is illegal not to have it. In the United States, for example, the penalties vary per state for being caught driving without insurance, but it always includes a fine, often includes a suspension of the driver’s license, and sometimes even includes jail time. Some states are stricter than others, with Delaware enforcing the heftiest fine, of $1,500, and a 6 month period of license suspension. In Connecticut, however, uninsured drivers can be met with up to 5 years in jail. Regardless of what state a driver is in, it is never worth it to avoid paying insurance.
The driver also clarified some details in the comments
Yet somehow, there continues to be a handful of drivers who refuse to get insurance. I understand the burden of paying about $150 per month to an insurance company, but that is part of the responsibility of being a driver. Unfortunately, not having insurance is a huge risk that nobody should be taking. According to a 2021 study, however, about 12.6% of American drivers are uninsured. Some states are even worse, though, with 29.4% of drivers in Mississippi lacking coverage. Even if you think you are an excellent driver, it is impossible to predict what will happen on the road. Car insurance gives you peace of mind and prevents you from suddenly being saddled with exorbitant bills (not to mention the fines associated with driving uninsured).
In this particular situation, it is very clear that the woman was in the wrong and is responsible for all of the damage she caused. But having car insurance would not only help the driver of the Jeep, it would have helped her too. We would love to hear your thoughts on this situation in the comments. Have you ever had an encounter with an uninsured driver on the road? I hope you haven’t, but if you have, I hope you were not responsible for any damages. Be careful out there, keep your eyes on the road, and watch out for any crazy Karens trying to swindle you out of money.
Readers found the story amusing, with many bashing the Karen and some sharing their own similar experiences
I picture this woman as one of those types who spends all her money on fancy things for herself but her kids wear hand me downs and mom can never afford to buy them anything.
That reminds me of one time I was at a baseball game. A lady and her 5 year old seated in front of me. Mom has 3 or 4 light beers throughout the game at $10 a pop. When the kid asked for a $5 ice cream she said no because she felt the kid would make a mess and it would be a "waste of money".

I’m always immediately skeptical whenever someone in a situation like this starts claiming starving kids. Like you somehow could afford a Mercedes but your kids are starving? Like in order to GET the Merc you either had to have good enough credit to buy/lease it (so probably kids aren’t starving) or you had enough cash in hand to buy it outright (so…probably also no starving kids). Like even if someone is really irresponsible with money, I’m betting she’s using her kids as a pity tactic more than anything else. Like, her kids are probably going to be fine, but Mommy isn’t going to be able to afford anymore toys for herself for a while. She’s still out of touch, and as someone else mentioned, probably prioritizes herself over her kids, but lbr, she’s mad because now she’s gonna have to prioritize her kids’ basic needs over fun stuff for her for a while.

They got out and started screaming at him that it was his fault and they called the cops. He had just put up cameras months before. The footage clearly showed that he had signalled a left turn. The other driver was ticketed.
There is a possible additional layer of stupid in this story: so it sounds a lot like this takes place in the US, and so depending on the state, even without the security footage Karen would still have been at fault. There are some states where even if someone backs into you at a red light or stop sign, YOU are still the one legally at fault for not leaving enough space between the cars when you stopped. I know people this has happened to. Stupid law, imo, but I think it is usually something seen in states with a lot of active railroad crossings; the idea is you’re responsible for leaving a car’s worth of space between you and the car in front of you, so if they need to back up for any reason, there should be enough space for them to do so without hitting you. So it’s totally possible that even if he had backed into her at full speed (which lol sure the cops are gonna be more likely to believe that over someone not stopping in time), she would STILL have been legally at full fault.
I actually had someone back into me once at a stop. It was a work truck with a trailer hitch on it & the driver had stopped past the line. He backed up just enough to punch a hole in my grille & didn't even know he'd done it. Before I could wave him down, traffic cleared & he was gone. Luckily my dad had a matching grille in his shop so we swapped it out. But if the truck had really hit me hard & caused more damage, it still would have been deemed my fault!

If the automaker/dealership has the options for dashcam, you should include it. These days, with so many idiot/karen/richard cranium drivers on the road, it's a major priority to get one. I got mine installed front and back. Peace of mind. Be safe on the road!
Collision insurance (which pays for damage to the insureds car) is not required but is wise if your car has any significant value. If you drive old used cars it is often not worthwhile.
It's a scam. No different from those people who claim injuries and disabilities as a result of slipping on a grape at the supermarket. Or if you've driven around Europe, "the victim's" side view mirrors that fall off easily when touched, you'll be threatened with police or pay repairs in cash.
Reading this reminds me of why I'm scared to drive. How someone will just jump in front and accuse me of running them over so that they can file and get disability for the rest of their life. This sounds like a new scam and a bad one at that.
Had this happen to me once, but in reverse. Literally. I was parked behind someone who got in his car, put it in reverse, and floored it; he was wasted and started screaming at me, thinking I'd hit him. Luckily, I was giving a few people a ride home, so they saw (and felt) what actually happened. I didn't call the cops (I was young and didn't want to get him in trouble) and it took nearly a year to get his insurance to pay up.
I had a Renault Encore. I was in the left lane of a one-way street on a cloudy day with my lights on. The person in a Ford F-250 dually in the right lane pulled left in front of me to take the street on my left, their 2 left rear wheels went over my hood. Big screaming match from him and his wife, I went to a house and had them call the police for me. (Pre-cell phones). Police came, they were charged, I was released and drove home. They had to have their truck towed away, they blew their universal joint out when they drove over my tiny car. I had a dented hood and a broken headlight , $50.00 repairs.. The truck was totaled since the repairs cost more than the truck was worth. It was a fun morning.
Unless that's an actual photo of the Karen, I don't think we should keep propogating this myth that Karens are supposed to look like something. It's hurtful. Women should be allowed to wear short hair or look however they want without being judged for having a personality flaw
I agree. I also think that people actually named Karen are really tired of their name being used to denote a person with all the worst qualities. I know - 'karen' is mostly arbitrary, and it's not personal. But enough already! Call out entitled jerks, unrepentant bigots, etc, etc, etc... with specific terminology.

The parking spots are not enough for all the employees' cars so often people park across the road perpendicularly to the parking spots, it's not a big deal since it's our private parking lot. Well, she backed off and she crashed into my other coworker's PARKED car. Luckily she wasn't driving fast so the damages weren't so bad but she could have hit a person and killed them, because she was clearly not looking back; if she was she would have noticed A PARKED HUGE BLACK CAR. I have to clarify that the car was already parked there when she walked to and then went into her car. But that's not it: she stormed into the building, angrily blaming him for the accident because 'he shouldn't have parked there'. Yes, he shouldn't have but 1-everybody, including her, did it and 2- if you crash into something that's immobile, you're in the wrong. Period.
It's insane that she keeps going on about how OP totaled her car even now.
Ahhh- the kind of person who never takes the blame- she's always the victim....everyone sympathize for her. Nothing is ever her fault. Probably raising her kids to be just as entitled.
Nah, I bet she was on her phone or doing something else that meant she wasn’t looking at the road. I once saw a lady texting on her mobile crash into the back of a police car. I laughed the entire way home.
