Man Captures A Karen Lying Under His Truck To Make Him Carry The Fridge He Delivered Inside On Video And Goes Viral Online

They say it doesn’t cost you to be nice, but sometimes it really does when people try to take advantage of your generosity, so it is important to set your boundaries and not let others walk over you. At the same time, you shouldn’t be rude or unreasonable.

People who don’t want to be a pushover but can’t find the middle ground might become pushy and rude themselves. This delivery driver who calls himself thottyy.boyy on TikTok had to deal with a couple of women who many would call Karens and one of them just laid down in front of the car, not allowing him to go until he fulfilled her demand.

Thottyyboyy isn’t very active on social media but he couldn’t resist sharing a video on TikTok because the situation he caught on it was so ridiculous. It actually was so unusual it caught the attention of 26 million people.

The video shows a woman lying under a car just next to its front wheels holding a phone to her ear, not allowing the delivery man to leave. The man then shows another woman he sees through his windshield standing in place, preventing him from moving.

When the delivery guy says to the video that the woman lying on the ground wants him to run over her, she responds, “No, I just want you to put the refrigerator in the house.” She then continues, “We can’t lift that thing. We don’t even have a dolly.”

The woman was demanding for the delivery driver to carry in the fridge she ordered as she couldn’t do it herself

The driver explained that this was a drop-off delivery so it wasn’t his job to install the fridge

The man clears up what happened in a follow-up video explaining that he delivered a refrigerator to this woman’s house. His job was to drop it off, which he did, but the woman believed he was also there to remove the old fridge and replace it with the new one upstairs.

The refrigerator was big and it’s understandable that for two older women, it would be hard to drag it into their home and to install it by themselves. However, it wasn’t Thottyyboyy’s job, it’s not just a small favor he could do without preparation and it usually comes with a cost.

According to Home Advisor, some stores might include the installation cost in the price of the appliance, but if it’s not included, you may need to pay about $200 more for the service. It might be that the two women didn’t pay for the service or there wasn’t an option to ask for it as the driver was instructed to drop it off.

Eventually the driver managed to escape when he dragged the woman out from under his truck

When the man started heading towards his car and was planning on leaving, the woman got under his car and wasn’t moving, demanding that the fridge be installed. In the end, the delivery driver managed to pull the woman out from under his truck and leave.

People in the comments were quite concerned about the driver because they felt it was a hostage situation in which the driver wasn’t able to leave without running over the woman, which he obviously didn’t want. They believed the woman wasn’t doing this for the first time and is used to getting her way by throwing a tantrum.

Most people agreed that the delivery driver isn’t obliged to install appliances or even enter someone’s house, but there were some commenters who didn’t understand why the man wouldn’t help the women as they clearly weren’t capable of putting the refrigerator in its place by themselves.

Yeah, nah... delivery is one thing.... delivery plus instillation is another... delivery, instillation and removal of an old appliance is another too... the video won't load for me and I'm not creating an account to watch it, but I'll wager that the customer has an entitled attitude and accustomed to getting their way with or without tantrums. Glad the driver managed to get out of that situation without (apparently) too much drama.

Yea, I had to buy a new fridge a couple of months ago when my old one died, and I must have asked half a dozen times "this price includes the fridge, delivery, installation, and removal of the old fridge, right?" The woman I was on the phone with must have thought I was crazy, but better safe than sorry!

Pay him, that's what they should have done. It would have all gone differently had their entitled egos got in the way. "C**p, can I give you $40 or 50 to bring it in?" And my man most likely would have said no problem. Even had he declined, he owes them nothing, especially with the attitude. Sad thing is a lot of people are like this, they expect the whole world to be at service to them yet won't bother to help anyone. 🤷

And they talk about entitled Millenials! Every time I have ordered an applicance, I have to pay extra for bringing it in & installing it. I have had them put it just inside the door, but they volunteered to do that.

An order for "delivery only" never includes installation or removal of the old appliance, that's always extra because the delivery guys need specific equipment - dolly & straps. Installation & removal generally takes TWO people - there are definite safety rules to be followed. Everyone saying "pay the guy 20 or 40 or 50 bucks? Hail no - moving TWO refrigerators in & out is gonna cost 100 at minimum. And the minute that dame laid down under the truck, I'd be calling the cops immediately.

The cost is one thing, the insurance is another. Even if they had proposed money, the driver wouldn't be insured and if anything goes wrong he would be responsible.

Not suprised, a friend does deliveries for a company that has an extra fee if you want the appliance moved into the house and they say old ladies are the worst with this. So many don't want to pay the fee and then get offended when the delivery person won't carry it in anyway.

The way folks act nowadays blows my fckn mind. It's like the world lost it's collective s**t all at once. Saying no or declining a request should be enough to get your point across but now it just opens the door for a one sided argument. People will do damn near anything to get their way and then wonder why the other person flips out on them. No means no and that's all it's ever meant without discussion. Arguing with someone to get what you want just escalates the situation and starts fights that could have very easily been avoided.

I know this situation all to well as a former Lowes installation expert. The salesman try like hell to sell every extra they can on something like this. New water lines, delivery, installation charge, extension on warranties, just a laundry list of extras. So the woman believes she's gamed the system by bypassing the sales person and only at checkout does she ask about delivery. Cashier's send them to customer service, who have the same list of extras but they are not experienced in the ins and outs of the job. So they let her choose delivery only, tack on the 100 bucks give or take and tell her they ll let her know when yada yada. Meanwhile, the drivers are just that. Their experience is more traffic patterns and shortcuts. They excel at avoiding wrecks and can back a 26 ft box truck into a drive not fit for a go cart. They don't have a kit for replacing feral valves, feed lines receptacle covers or GFCIs. She wanted something for nothing.

TaskRabbit offers that service. Nice guy or not, he didn't have the equipment or the insurance to move that thing upstairs. And he had other delivery commitments. Nice guy? Tell her how to use her smartphone to hire someone. He should have called the police himself and let them drag her out, though. Putting hands on another person could be iffy.

I’m sympathetic to the so called Karen after my last appliance delivery. What a fiasco! I paid for delivery of a dishwasher and removal of my old one, which had already been unhooked. So when I bought it, I made sure that delivery included bringing it upstairs and removing the old one that day. The installer was scheduled for the next day. But the delivery guy wanted to just drop on my doorstep. So I’m like, no, you have to bring it upstairs and take away the old one. He said he didn’t do that despite all these arrangements being on my invoice. I certainly wasn’t going to allow him to just leave it and yes, it was his problem to solve. I had to get very emphatic with him and made him call his boss to work it out. Lo and behold, he was supposed to bring it upstairs and remove the old one. I’m sure he considered me a Karen but I don’t care.

I wonder of there was some kind of bizarre misunderstanding through the store. I ordered a fridge from best buy last year and ir was an absolute nightmare. Depending on where they ordered from it could have said removal and installation included and the company failed to include it. Their behavior is wrong they should have called the company about it if installation was purchased or expected. The delivery driver can't be liable when it says delivery only its a legality and insurance issue

Actually, if I am not mistaken, if delivery is ordered only and not installation, it’s quite possible that his work would not cover any damage or injury received during unauthorized installation. Also, it sounds as though they needed it carried upstairs. Taking a refrigerator up a flight of steps alone is not really considered an idea situation. Meanwhile, I somehow get the feeling that this has happened to these ladies before, since they seem to have a plan already. I think they knew installation was separate, (don’t most stores ask you when you buy? If you want installation and haul away? Anyways, I think they knew it was separate are were trying to get it for free.

Most don't realize that the new fridges are bigger than they used to be to give more space inside and in doing so the fridge is too big to go through the door without ether taking the house door off its hinges or taking the doors of the fridge, both of which needs tools

There are liabilities if he installs, even if they slip him $20. What if he drops the fridge, what if he damages the wall? What if he injures someone/himself? All of those are covered when you buy installation and removal... Its common business sense. Even overseas, its included in the service, but the business adds a little for liability and labor.

Delivery companies charge extra for installation and on top of that it requires disconnecting an existing appliance...that also adds to the cost. Most times it's not even the driver who installs but someone else who shows up to do it, someone who is "certified" to install because most companies don't want to have to pay to replace something their driver could potentially break regardless of if they have the knowledge or not...its more for liability purposes. Most times the drivers are just that: "drivers". It's not a question of doing a favor or being nice....him installing his delivery could cost him his job. Aside from that if he were to get injured doing so his insurance would likely not cover it and worker's comp wouldn't cover it. Why? Because it's not part of his "job" and therefore any injury he could potentially sustain would be at his expense. Most delivery companies don't want their drivers entering homes anyways as it can turn into a hostage situation. Also....attitude..

And I will expound....this is just my experience in the US...not sure how it is elsewhere. Most, if not all, delivery companies list installation as an added charge. Once again it is due to the insurance of the individual and liability. Some companies may not even offer anything other than delivery...which is partially thanks to individuals such as this.

For the people who never did some type of moving Jobs, There is a lot of safety rule and also you have to look at the assurance from the company what is like. So sometime you can't just help people like that. you also have to think about yourself. Even if you look at the situation who really would want to help these Ladies.Even,if he had another person and the appropriate equipment. Making people feeling like hostage is probably not the best way. Also is a minority the situation can be uncomfortable

Furniture companies at least are very clear they are dropping the furniture, not moving it in. This was likely explained in writing when she ordered the appliance. The driver was correct.

What's hilarious is they think one man alone is enough to get that thing inside and installed. I'm a nurse and it's the same thing with patients standing up. "You need to lift me up!" It takes two guys to put in a fridge. One to install, two to carry in. I know I had my fridge delivered and put inside by two guys. And they expected him to do it by himself and without a dolly! Those two ladies live in an entitled dream world! They probably thought, let's not pay delivery and when they get there we'll just have them put it inside and install it.

I'm willing to bet anything this wasn't an honest mistake and they planned this from the start, getting out of paying the extra for installation and/or removal by harassing the poor delivery just doing his job. The fact that their reaction was to lay in front of the tires is just insanely childish and absurd from grown adults. If there was a genuine misunderstanding then just call the store and work it out like a normal person.

It pisses me off so much when people assume that just because you're young and/or big you should lift s**t for people. My back is already worse than most old people's, because no one told me when I was young that I should take care of it. Just that I'm young and tall and shouldn't complain (I'm a woman, so gender doesn't even matter). I'm 30 y/o and going for my second slipped disc operation soon (had the first one at 18). I've had 3 long periods in my life where I had to walk with a stroller and I'm in constant pain. I probably won't be able to become a mother. I can barely work and get no compensation whatsoever. My life got ruined when I was barely an adult because all my life I got told young people should just be able to do hard labor. So to whoever thinks he should just help them out, f- you. If you can't do something yourself, chances are it's hard for someone who isn't a professional as well. And professionals deserve professional pay.

I don't know if ebtitled is the correct term but consumer ignorance is. Read the fine print! If installing it and removing the old one are not included, the delivery paperwork would say so. There is the possibility the 2 women knew it wasn't but were going to force it anyway without having to pay. There would be a disposal cost for the old one... even if he managed to get the new one up the stairs by himself he should have left the old one in place fir them to deal with. But my comment to him is: by dragging her out from in front of the truck he coyld have opened himself to charges of ohysical assault and if tbey were the racist kind, they would have done that. In the photo he looks like a younger man so lesson learned for him. He might have been able to back up and drive around her. Taking photos of the incident was wise...

I think I’d have simply rang the police and had them drag the woman out from under the car. The salesman at the shop, though, should have made it clear what level of delivery service they were getting.

The driver was told drop off and that's what he did. It never said installation or even inside. People should know there is an extra charge... they either tell you at the store or when you order it ask if you want installation or not. I've been there, done that. If you don't wanna pay, make sure you have someone around who can move it and do the work for you, if not then your gonna need to pay. My mom and I knew and we moved ours in ourselves and my dad dropped by to install, no big deal. But if you or a friend/relative can't then ya don't have much choice. As for people saying he should have just done it for them, maybe he didn't have the time, they have other stops to make and times to have it done by. Also how many of you go to work and do Free labor? Probably not many of you.

It's simple if he is a delivery guy not the installer cuz they did not pay for it and installer,then he cannot install it! When you pay for installing it's usually a team of at least two people that will do the installation they would not send out one person to install the article says that the fridge has to go upstairs no way in hell even for a $20 tip would I attempt to Dolly a fridge upstairs by myself or with two fragile old ladies that if something happened they would sue the company if the fridge got damaged they would probably ask for a refund ,. If it was on the first floor and it was a smaller fridge possibly I would help he has no obligation to risk his job installing a fridge

I had a clothes washer delivered yesterday. Installation came with it, but removal of the old washer was $35. I paid to have the thing carted off. Those hags should have paid for that service as well, rather than make asses out of themselves. Only mistake OP made was *not* calling the cops!

Him helping install that refrigerator would have put ALL party's of risk of financial liability. What if it fell and broke on the way up the stairs? What if it fell on him? What if the water from the copper pipe leaked and flooded the house? That's why you get the $200 charge, so someone who knows what they are doing and are insured for the job can install your item. He was kind enough to pull her from under the truck before leaving, I would have had to give her a scare.

This is so drastic,..delivery without bringing it inside- could be a huge headache ... Hard to tell if those two pitiful, desperate females were acting entitled or somehow did not understand what the curb, drop delivery is! Was the woman under the wheel on the phone trying to reach the store for help? Home Depot would deliver inside, install and for small fees like $35 will dispose of the old appliance.

In case some of y'all don't know, if his delivery is for drop off only and he injured his back bringing in/ installing the fridge his company insurance will not cover the back injury and I'm sure those ladies won't either. He'll end up screwed over. Being nice sometimes you end up getting the short end of the stick.

Installation is always extra and if that's paid for then someone from the company your ordered from would be delivering and installing the fridge. UPS delivery drivers are not authorized to enter anyone's home.

Driver should have called the cops and had them charged with "false arrest" for making him unable to leave and make the rest of his deliveries. And being on his own, he could've hurt himself moving it by himself. Those women should be arrested and at least fined. And they should be made to do a lot of community service, at least

Installation of something that heavy is usually a two man job because of the weight. Unless you hire Goliath who can lift and dolly the fridge around by himself. I'm not going to help people if it's not part of the order. It's a liability and injury waiting to happen.

Bought many a fridge/freezer over the years. I only pay online to the retailer for them to take the old unit away. When the delivery guys arrive, I bung them a quick £30 and they switch the door to open on the other hinge for me. I know this because I have paid the fee before and the guys were quite put out as it's their little side earner and less than the retailer.

I bought an air conditioner online. The type you can wheel around the room, with a hose that goes in the window. Found it just left outside, so I wasn't too pleased about that (we're talking several hundred dollars here), but then I tried to move it, and discovered just how heavy the thing was. Maybe they didn't want to get roped into hauling it inside, but even if they doorbell ditched, I would've appreciated it. Still, I apologized to them in my head as I somehow managed to lug it inside. I had no idea how heavy it was.

Depends on the delivery company as to whether the driver can help you load a package inside. I know UPS & FedEx drivers are not allowed to enter a home due to liability. I'm pretty sure all other delivery services are gonna be the same unless installation is listed as an option that you pay extra for. And yeah, ring the darned doorbell - I've found packages on our porch that sat there all day! Lucky we live in a small area that's off the beaten path!

I just bought a freezer. It was going to cost me an extra $30 aud for installation and to take away the box. We, as able bodied people with a sack truck, chose to save the $30 and do it ourselves. :) It's not expensive to get the installation as well as delivery.

Ok....all parties concerned behaved very poorly but in the end I think the delivery guy was the bigger jerk. What would I have done had I been the driver??? I would have found a way to help. Period. Definitely would've at least tried....made a couple phone calls... had the women rent a dolly...helped the women make some phone calls.....help them knock on some neighbors doors....something...anything. They woman were elderly. .i think though i refuse to watch the foolishness. A lack of respect...by everyone in this story.

Especially if people are promised their delivery at a specific time and maybe have their own work later, he can't exactly take a random break lasting potentially an hour or more just to figure something out for 2 entitled unreasonable strangers who don't listen to him and who didn't plan properly and probably just didn't wanna pay for installation themselves looking at their awful behaviour. Installing a fridge is A LOT of work. You have to uninstall the previous fridge, get it out and away, sonehow get the new one inside and installed that. A dolly or some neighbours aren't gonna help with that, especially because even fit young men can get injured improperly moving a fridge, the ladies just need to call a installer and pay up and let the delivery man leave since he has other urgent business to get to, even my own 80+ yr old grandmother can figure out something that simple, and if not they can walk far enough to get their neighbours themselves.

They delivered a 280 kg (about 560 pounds) cabinet + aquarium to my house. And left it in my front yard. There were no installation or delivery fees. Nobody told me i would magically have to deliver it inside my house. I had to ask my old a*s dad to help and we rolled/pushed it through the front door with old egyptian ingenuity (using sand bags). Once inside the house we used towel to push it over the floor... Next time i order something i will call customer service and ask them where its delivered. In my front yard, at my door or inside my house...

They might not have realized there was an extra fee for installation. That said, stores that sell large appluances used to install them upon delivery as part of the store's service. These ladies might not have known there is an extra charge for that these days.

What, the truck couldn't reverse? These days, delivery is one fee, placement in 'nearest interior space or garage' is another fee and installation is another fee entirely. This would have been explained to the old bats at time of purchase.

Everything is available in America so long as you have the money to pay for it. Even when you do, you realize most things are not worth the cost of paying someone else to do them. The service industry here is a racket which preys on dumb people. Speaking to a 'professional' is like rolling the dice; you never know what to expect. Do your due diligence. Word of mouth carries more weight than text. This is not some hatred for America. But some of these people have titles they cannot spell.

Never in my life have I heard of an appliance delivery from a store left outside. In every case I know the appliance was taken inside. Installed means hooked up ie water line installed. That said I do not know this stores policy they might be that lame. Dont confuse a UPS delivery which is a package carrier with a store selling an appliance. UPS is a different kind of service and not allowed to enter a customers house. When an appliance is purchased from a store and they deliver it there is an expectation that a reputable store will deliver it inside.

I've never heard of paying extra for delivering a fridge inside and im sure these two old bags hadn't either. they probably just thought this guy was being lazy. I've ordered several refrigerator for myself and the place i work, but always from an appliance store and typically a local small business, im sure that's the kind of service they are used to.

Both women are from a generation when stores automatically included installation and removal to their deliveries. This newer trend to charge for installation and removal of the older refrigerator is pure greed. Find a way to make a few extra bucks by changing how the company handles deliveries. They should publicize where they purchased the refrigerator and see what happens.

Hard to pass judgement without all the facts. A lot of big companies where I live don't give you the option anymore to have it brought inside so if you are older/incapable and live on a top floor you are screwed. It's normally not even told to you if they will bring it in until the moment it shows up. I bought a couch from one store in town and was told when they arrived that they would drop it at the front of my apartment main door only. I was heavily pregnant and home alone at the time. I was fortunate my neighbour was around to help me get it up 3 flights of stairs (no elevator). My husband was livid when he got home for forcing me to deal with this in my state.

Personally I think both the customer and the delivery driver are victims of corporate shareholders who want to pinch every last cent out of us on the customer side and the employee side. That lady was probably forced to order online because there are fewer and fewer places that have a large variety of appliances in stock. She probably didn't notice that installation was not included because it was when she bought appliances in the past. The driver on the other hand probably has a crazy deadline to make an unrealistic number of deliveries. Not to mention the age difference. He thinks she is too cheap to pay for installation but feels entitled anyway but, she probably doesn't understand it is separate. She is probably thinking that if she can get the right person on the phone before he leaves she can resolve the issue and she won't have to wait a week with no refrigerator. I understand it was a drop off delivery, but I would have at least carried it into the home. He didn't have to actually install it. Just help the women get it out of the driveway. This is at least partially on the company who sold this refrigerator, regardless of whether or not it was an online purchase. They should coordinate a delivery and install at the same time. honestly if it has to be explained WHY then they are just as stupid as these 2 idiots trying to fix the problem by acting like toddlers. But they probably just dismissed that part and thought they woudl be able to act like this and get it for free.

The delivery driver is a total douche for making a video of women in distress. i'm alarmed by all the commenters siding with the driver. Most companies have a fee to do installation. Also he was alone. Trust me, trying to move a fridge by yourself is not easy. Actually, my local Lowe's has an option for drop off only. I think home Depot has that option as well.

An order for "delivery only" never includes installation or removal of the old appliance, that's always extra because the delivery guys need specific equipment - dolly & straps. Installation & removal generally takes TWO people - there are definite safety rules to be followed. Everyone saying "pay the guy 20 or 40 or 50 bucks? Hail no - moving TWO refrigerators in & out is gonna cost 100 at minimum. And the minute that dame laid down under the truck, I'd be calling the cops immediately.

Not suprised, a friend does deliveries for a company that has an extra fee if you want the appliance moved into the house and they say old ladies are the worst with this. So many don't want to pay the fee and then get offended when the delivery person won't carry it in anyway.

The way folks act nowadays blows my fckn mind. It's like the world lost it's collective s**t all at once. Saying no or declining a request should be enough to get your point across but now it just opens the door for a one sided argument. People will do damn near anything to get their way and then wonder why the other person flips out on them. No means no and that's all it's ever meant without discussion. Arguing with someone to get what you want just escalates the situation and starts fights that could have very easily been avoided.

I know this situation all to well as a former Lowes installation expert. The salesman try like hell to sell every extra they can on something like this. New water lines, delivery, installation charge, extension on warranties, just a laundry list of extras. So the woman believes she's gamed the system by bypassing the sales person and only at checkout does she ask about delivery. Cashier's send them to customer service, who have the same list of extras but they are not experienced in the ins and outs of the job. So they let her choose delivery only, tack on the 100 bucks give or take and tell her they ll let her know when yada yada. Meanwhile, the drivers are just that. Their experience is more traffic patterns and shortcuts. They excel at avoiding wrecks and can back a 26 ft box truck into a drive not fit for a go cart. They don't have a kit for replacing feral valves, feed lines receptacle covers or GFCIs. She wanted something for nothing.

I’m sympathetic to the so called Karen after my last appliance delivery. What a fiasco! I paid for delivery of a dishwasher and removal of my old one, which had already been unhooked. So when I bought it, I made sure that delivery included bringing it upstairs and removing the old one that day. The installer was scheduled for the next day. But the delivery guy wanted to just drop on my doorstep. So I’m like, no, you have to bring it upstairs and take away the old one. He said he didn’t do that despite all these arrangements being on my invoice. I certainly wasn’t going to allow him to just leave it and yes, it was his problem to solve. I had to get very emphatic with him and made him call his boss to work it out. Lo and behold, he was supposed to bring it upstairs and remove the old one. I’m sure he considered me a Karen but I don’t care.

I wonder of there was some kind of bizarre misunderstanding through the store. I ordered a fridge from best buy last year and ir was an absolute nightmare. Depending on where they ordered from it could have said removal and installation included and the company failed to include it. Their behavior is wrong they should have called the company about it if installation was purchased or expected. The delivery driver can't be liable when it says delivery only its a legality and insurance issue

Actually, if I am not mistaken, if delivery is ordered only and not installation, it’s quite possible that his work would not cover any damage or injury received during unauthorized installation. Also, it sounds as though they needed it carried upstairs. Taking a refrigerator up a flight of steps alone is not really considered an idea situation. Meanwhile, I somehow get the feeling that this has happened to these ladies before, since they seem to have a plan already. I think they knew installation was separate, (don’t most stores ask you when you buy? If you want installation and haul away? Anyways, I think they knew it was separate are were trying to get it for free.

Most don't realize that the new fridges are bigger than they used to be to give more space inside and in doing so the fridge is too big to go through the door without ether taking the house door off its hinges or taking the doors of the fridge, both of which needs tools

There are liabilities if he installs, even if they slip him $20. What if he drops the fridge, what if he damages the wall? What if he injures someone/himself? All of those are covered when you buy installation and removal... Its common business sense. Even overseas, its included in the service, but the business adds a little for liability and labor.

Delivery companies charge extra for installation and on top of that it requires disconnecting an existing appliance...that also adds to the cost. Most times it's not even the driver who installs but someone else who shows up to do it, someone who is "certified" to install because most companies don't want to have to pay to replace something their driver could potentially break regardless of if they have the knowledge or not...its more for liability purposes. Most times the drivers are just that: "drivers". It's not a question of doing a favor or being nice....him installing his delivery could cost him his job. Aside from that if he were to get injured doing so his insurance would likely not cover it and worker's comp wouldn't cover it. Why? Because it's not part of his "job" and therefore any injury he could potentially sustain would be at his expense. Most delivery companies don't want their drivers entering homes anyways as it can turn into a hostage situation. Also....attitude..

And I will expound....this is just my experience in the US...not sure how it is elsewhere. Most, if not all, delivery companies list installation as an added charge. Once again it is due to the insurance of the individual and liability. Some companies may not even offer anything other than delivery...which is partially thanks to individuals such as this.

For the people who never did some type of moving Jobs, There is a lot of safety rule and also you have to look at the assurance from the company what is like. So sometime you can't just help people like that. you also have to think about yourself. Even if you look at the situation who really would want to help these Ladies.Even,if he had another person and the appropriate equipment. Making people feeling like hostage is probably not the best way. Also is a minority the situation can be uncomfortable

Furniture companies at least are very clear they are dropping the furniture, not moving it in. This was likely explained in writing when she ordered the appliance. The driver was correct.

I had this happen once working for UPS. I called 911 and pressed charges for false imprisonment. The lady was sentenced to 1 year 1 days last month.

It takes two guys to put in a fridge. One to install, two to carry in. I know I had my fridge delivered and put inside by two guys. And they expected him to do it by himself and without a dolly! Those two ladies live in an entitled dream world! They probably thought, let's not pay delivery and when they get there we'll just have them put it inside and install it.

I'm willing to bet anything this wasn't an honest mistake and they planned this from the start, getting out of paying the extra for installation and/or removal by harassing the poor delivery just doing his job. The fact that their reaction was to lay in front of the tires is just insanely childish and absurd from grown adults. If there was a genuine misunderstanding then just call the store and work it out like a normal person.

It pisses me off so much when people assume that just because you're young and/or big you should lift s**t for people. My back is already worse than most old people's, because no one told me when I was young that I should take care of it. Just that I'm young and tall and shouldn't complain (I'm a woman, so gender doesn't even matter). I'm 30 y/o and going for my second slipped disc operation soon (had the first one at 18). I've had 3 long periods in my life where I had to walk with a stroller and I'm in constant pain. I probably won't be able to become a mother. I can barely work and get no compensation whatsoever. My life got ruined when I was barely an adult because all my life I got told young people should just be able to do hard labor. So to whoever thinks he should just help them out, f- you. If you can't do something yourself, chances are it's hard for someone who isn't a professional as well. And professionals deserve professional pay.

I don't know if ebtitled is the correct term but consumer ignorance is. Read the fine print! If installing it and removing the old one are not included, the delivery paperwork would say so. There is the possibility the 2 women knew it wasn't but were going to force it anyway without having to pay. There would be a disposal cost for the old one... even if he managed to get the new one up the stairs by himself he should have left the old one in place fir them to deal with. But my comment to him is: by dragging her out from in front of the truck he coyld have opened himself to charges of ohysical assault and if tbey were the racist kind, they would have done that. In the photo he looks like a younger man so lesson learned for him. He might have been able to back up and drive around her. Taking photos of the incident was wise...

I think I’d have simply rang the police and had them drag the woman out from under the car. The salesman at the shop, though, should have made it clear what level of delivery service they were getting.

The driver was told drop off and that's what he did. It never said installation or even inside. People should know there is an extra charge... they either tell you at the store or when you order it ask if you want installation or not. I've been there, done that. If you don't wanna pay, make sure you have someone around who can move it and do the work for you, if not then your gonna need to pay. My mom and I knew and we moved ours in ourselves and my dad dropped by to install, no big deal. But if you or a friend/relative can't then ya don't have much choice. As for people saying he should have just done it for them, maybe he didn't have the time, they have other stops to make and times to have it done by. Also how many of you go to work and do Free labor? Probably not many of you.

It's simple if he is a delivery guy not the installer cuz they did not pay for it and installer,then he cannot install it! When you pay for installing it's usually a team of at least two people that will do the installation they would not send out one person to install the article says that the fridge has to go upstairs no way in hell even for a $20 tip would I attempt to Dolly a fridge upstairs by myself or with two fragile old ladies that if something happened they would sue the company if the fridge got damaged they would probably ask for a refund ,. If it was on the first floor and it was a smaller fridge possibly I would help he has no obligation to risk his job installing a fridge

I had a clothes washer delivered yesterday. Installation came with it, but removal of the old washer was $35. I paid to have the thing carted off. Those hags should have paid for that service as well, rather than make asses out of themselves. Only mistake OP made was *not* calling the cops!

Him helping install that refrigerator would have put ALL party's of risk of financial liability. What if it fell and broke on the way up the stairs? What if it fell on him? What if the water from the copper pipe leaked and flooded the house? That's why you get the $200 charge, so someone who knows what they are doing and are insured for the job can install your item. He was kind enough to pull her from under the truck before leaving, I would have had to give her a scare.

This is so drastic,..delivery without bringing it inside- could be a huge headache ... Hard to tell if those two pitiful, desperate females were acting entitled or somehow did not understand what the curb, drop delivery is! Was the woman under the wheel on the phone trying to reach the store for help? Home Depot would deliver inside, install and for small fees like $35 will dispose of the old appliance.

In case some of y'all don't know, if his delivery is for drop off only and he injured his back bringing in/ installing the fridge his company insurance will not cover the back injury and I'm sure those ladies won't either. He'll end up screwed over. Being nice sometimes you end up getting the short end of the stick.

Installation is always extra and if that's paid for then someone from the company your ordered from would be delivering and installing the fridge. UPS delivery drivers are not authorized to enter anyone's home.

Driver should have called the cops and had them charged with "false arrest" for making him unable to leave and make the rest of his deliveries. And being on his own, he could've hurt himself moving it by himself. Those women should be arrested and at least fined. And they should be made to do a lot of community service, at least

Installation of something that heavy is usually a two man job because of the weight. Unless you hire Goliath who can lift and dolly the fridge around by himself. I'm not going to help people if it's not part of the order. It's a liability and injury waiting to happen.

Bought many a fridge/freezer over the years. I only pay online to the retailer for them to take the old unit away. When the delivery guys arrive, I bung them a quick £30 and they switch the door to open on the other hinge for me. I know this because I have paid the fee before and the guys were quite put out as it's their little side earner and less than the retailer.

I bought an air conditioner online. The type you can wheel around the room, with a hose that goes in the window. Found it just left outside, so I wasn't too pleased about that (we're talking several hundred dollars here), but then I tried to move it, and discovered just how heavy the thing was. Maybe they didn't want to get roped into hauling it inside, but even if they doorbell ditched, I would've appreciated it. Still, I apologized to them in my head as I somehow managed to lug it inside. I had no idea how heavy it was.

Depends on the delivery company as to whether the driver can help you load a package inside. I know UPS & FedEx drivers are not allowed to enter a home due to liability. I'm pretty sure all other delivery services are gonna be the same unless installation is listed as an option that you pay extra for. And yeah, ring the darned doorbell - I've found packages on our porch that sat there all day! Lucky we live in a small area that's off the beaten path!

I just bought a freezer. It was going to cost me an extra $30 aud for installation and to take away the box. We, as able bodied people with a sack truck, chose to save the $30 and do it ourselves. :) It's not expensive to get the installation as well as delivery.

Ok....all parties concerned behaved very poorly but in the end I think the delivery guy was the bigger jerk. What would I have done had I been the driver??? I would have found a way to help. Period. Definitely would've at least tried....made a couple phone calls... had the women rent a dolly...helped the women make some phone calls.....help them knock on some neighbors doors....something...anything. They woman were elderly. .i think though i refuse to watch the foolishness. A lack of respect...by everyone in this story.

Especially if people are promised their delivery at a specific time and maybe have their own work later, he can't exactly take a random break lasting potentially an hour or more just to figure something out for 2 entitled unreasonable strangers who don't listen to him and who didn't plan properly and probably just didn't wanna pay for installation themselves looking at their awful behaviour. Installing a fridge is A LOT of work. You have to uninstall the previous fridge, get it out and away, sonehow get the new one inside and installed that. A dolly or some neighbours aren't gonna help with that, especially because even fit young men can get injured improperly moving a fridge, the ladies just need to call a installer and pay up and let the delivery man leave since he has other urgent business to get to, even my own 80+ yr old grandmother can figure out something that simple, and if not they can walk far enough to get their neighbours themselves.

They delivered a 280 kg (about 560 pounds) cabinet + aquarium to my house. And left it in my front yard. There were no installation or delivery fees. Nobody told me i would magically have to deliver it inside my house. I had to ask my old a*s dad to help and we rolled/pushed it through the front door with old egyptian ingenuity (using sand bags). Once inside the house we used towel to push it over the floor... Next time i order something i will call customer service and ask them where its delivered. In my front yard, at my door or inside my house...

What, the truck couldn't reverse? These days, delivery is one fee, placement in 'nearest interior space or garage' is another fee and installation is another fee entirely. This would have been explained to the old bats at time of purchase.

Everything is available in America so long as you have the money to pay for it. Even when you do, you realize most things are not worth the cost of paying someone else to do them. The service industry here is a racket which preys on dumb people. Speaking to a 'professional' is like rolling the dice; you never know what to expect. Do your due diligence. Word of mouth carries more weight than text. This is not some hatred for America. But some of these people have titles they cannot spell.

Never in my life have I heard of an appliance delivery from a store left outside. In every case I know the appliance was taken inside. Installed means hooked up ie water line installed. That said I do not know this stores policy they might be that lame. Dont confuse a UPS delivery which is a package carrier with a store selling an appliance. UPS is a different kind of service and not allowed to enter a customers house. When an appliance is purchased from a store and they deliver it there is an expectation that a reputable store will deliver it inside.

It was the same way when I was a kid also which is why my mother and aunts always made sure my uncle's or cousins were available the day it was being delivered to avoid fees. This is absolutely nothing new.

I've never heard of paying extra for delivering a fridge inside and im sure these two old bags hadn't either. they probably just thought this guy was being lazy. I've ordered several refrigerator for myself and the place i work, but always from an appliance store and typically a local small business, im sure that's the kind of service they are used to.

Both women are from a generation when stores automatically included installation and removal to their deliveries. This newer trend to charge for installation and removal of the older refrigerator is pure greed. Find a way to make a few extra bucks by changing how the company handles deliveries. They should publicize where they purchased the refrigerator and see what happens.

In 30 years every place we've used has charged, and it was the same way when I was a kid. People just didn't pay attention to the fine print in what they were paying for.

Hard to pass judgement without all the facts. A lot of big companies where I live don't give you the option anymore to have it brought inside so if you are older/incapable and live on a top floor you are screwed. It's normally not even told to you if they will bring it in until the moment it shows up. I bought a couch from one store in town and was told when they arrived that they would drop it at the front of my apartment main door only. I was heavily pregnant and home alone at the time. I was fortunate my neighbour was around to help me get it up 3 flights of stairs (no elevator). My husband was livid when he got home for forcing me to deal with this in my state.

Personally I think both the customer and the delivery driver are victims of corporate shareholders who want to pinch every last cent out of us on the customer side and the employee side. That lady was probably forced to order online because there are fewer and fewer places that have a large variety of appliances in stock. She probably didn't notice that installation was not included because it was when she bought appliances in the past. The driver on the other hand probably has a crazy deadline to make an unrealistic number of deliveries. Not to mention the age difference. He thinks she is too cheap to pay for installation but feels entitled anyway but, she probably doesn't understand it is separate. She is probably thinking that if she can get the right person on the phone before he leaves she can resolve the issue and she won't have to wait a week with no refrigerator. I understand it was a drop off delivery, but I would have at least carried it into the home. He didn't have to actually install it. Just help the women get it out of the driveway. I mean, is that really too much to ask? I would have done it. Just saying. Do unto others as you would want done to you. What if that was his mother? Wouldn't he want the same for her? Just my 2 cents.

This is at least partially on the company who sold this refrigerator, regardless of whether or not it was an online purchase. They should coordinate a delivery and install at the same time. honestly if it has to be explained WHY then they are just as stupid as these 2 idiots trying to fix the problem by acting like toddlers. But they probably just dismissed that part and thought they woudl be able to act like this and get it for free.

Almost every company does the planning for them at the same time. You just have people who think they can decline to skip having to pay and then push their way into it regardless and like you said, then they get it free.

No one buys a fridge thinking it will just be dropped off in the driveway. What company is this? The delivery driver is a total douche for making a video of women in distress. i'm alarmed by all the commenters siding with the driver. This is not normal behaviour from either the company or the driver. I'll guess that the commenters are American where it's acceptable to treat people like c**p.

Most companies have a fee to do installation. Also he was alone. Trust me, trying to move a fridge by yourself is not easy. Actually, my local Lowe's has an option for drop off only. I think home Depot has that option as well.

Oh please. She's not an old woman. An old woman would be in her '80s or older. All these women my age and up are in way better shape than our generations before us. Anytime I've bought an appliance, everything is explained in detail and gone over 20 times! She's not technologically stupid, she just wants something for nothing and she's acting that way. These kinds of people do this all the dang time.

He's doing his job. Nowadays it's the norm to have an extra fee to move things into the house, it's the costumers choice if they want to save money by just having it dropped of or pay more to have it moved into the house.
