Karen Leaves A Note Saying That Her Guests Will Park In This Woman’s Driveway, But She’s Not Having It
We are quickly approaching the holiday season, pandas, and whatever you choose to celebrate, we hope you’re looking forward to it. And while you may be one of those pandas who shields your eyes from the holiday displays in stores and refuses to even mention the word Christmas until December 1st, sometimes these occasions require lots of planning ahead, including coordinating with relatives and friends who may be visiting from out of town.
There’s nothing better than gathering with all of your loved ones to share a delicious meal, exchange gifts, celebrate the year that has passed and ring in the new year with exciting goals and a desire to start fresh. However, if you’re dealing with drama with your neighbors at the same time, it might put a little damper on your holiday festivities. One homeowner recently shared on Reddit how their Karen neighbor has demanded to use her driveway during the week of Christmas this year, and she is not having it at all.
Below, you can read the full story of this entitled Karen who definitely deserves to receive some coal in her stocking this year, and let us know in the comments how you feel about her lack of “holiday spirit”. Then if you’re looking to read another Bored Panda article featuring neighbor disputes over parking, you can find one right here!
After her neighbor demanded access to her driveway over the holidays, this homeowner went online to release her frustration

Some neighborhoods are just not ideal for parking. The streets may be narrow, there may be too many cars to ever find a spot, or there might be plenty of “No Parking” signs posted all around. Having trouble finding parking is a challenge that many of us can empathize with, especially if we’ve lived in a large or crowded city before. (I would be embarrassed to admit how many parking tickets I received while living in Los Angeles…) But at the end of the day, finding a parking spot is your own responsibility. It is ridiculous to demand access to your neighbor’s property, especially when you plan to have visitors for nearly two weeks. Finding parking for her guests is that woman’s responsibility alone, not her neighbor’s, and she certainly has no right to be calling the police.
The homeowner who posted this story noted that she has already had to have her neighbor’s car towed multiple times, so I’m not sure what that woman expects to happen this time. She has been warned, and she has had to deal with towed vehicles before, so it is silly for her to expect a different outcome this time. Plus, it is likely that there are local businesses or public streets within a reasonable distance that these guests could park on. It might not be ideal to walk a few minutes in the winter when it’s cold and possibly snowy, but it definitely beats having to pick up (and pay for) a car that’s been towed.
As for the homeowner who wants to prevent these guests from parking on her property, it seems that the wisest decision would be to block off the driveway in some way. If the guests don’t have access to it, they will be forced to find somewhere else to go. And their host does not sound like she has listened to reason in the past, so she is not likely to stay out of the driveway if it’s open and available to her. Most neighbors would act like adults in this situation and find a solution that does not involve calling the police, having cars towed or getting into an argument with fellow residents. But sometimes it’s best to take matters into your own hands. Put up some chains, cones, sharp items that might pop a tire, whatever it takes, and hope for the best.
The holidays are supposed to be a joyous time where we’re all feeling a little more generous, merry and cheerful. But that doesn’t mean we can act as entitled as we like and go demanding access to our neighbors’ property. We would love to hear your thoughts on this situation below. Have you ever had a dispute with a neighbor over parking? And if so, how did you end up resolving it? Then if you want to check out another Bored Panda article featuring winter parking drama, look no further than right here.
Readers have responded in support of the homeowner, with many sharing their own recommendations for protecting the driveway
if there are multiple cars, call two different tow companies to add an extra level of inconvenience. send those cars all over the place
I like the way you think. Hell call one from a county over.
Load More Replies...I don't understand how people were raised to think they can get away with stuff like this. It just boggles my mind.
Didn't one of those popular self help gurus teach that kind of behavior? Sort of "take what you want or you'll never have it" or some such drivel.
Load More Replies...Had a boss that had an argument with the neighbors from her driveway because the neighborhood boys would come play in her backyard, sometimes when she wasn't at home (she has cameras that record.) She told the boys nicely to not be in her yard as it drove her two dogs crazy and they would bark relentlessly when they knew someone was in the yard. When she told the parents to get the boys to stop, the parents said that the boys should be allowed to play where ever they wanted. She said they are trespassing and told the parents that the next time they were on her property, she'd call the police. "Let's see if they think the boys should be allowed to play wherever they want." Kids have stayed out of her backyard ever since.
Unfortunately, that's the way you have to play it with people who think everything you have is worth sharing with them. And don't take no for an answer. What if a kid got hurt in this woman's back yard? Who would be liable?
Load More Replies...I had an apartment neighbor who'd always park in my spot, despite having their own spot, right next to mine. When i asked them not to do that, they then started parking on the line (taking up both spots). Also asked them not to do that. So they started to passively aggressively park right on the line (so they were technically in their spot, but not leaving me enough room to park in mine). I got them towed. After that, they started putting chewed gum on my car and even through any windows i had cracked open. Mind you, this all started completely unprompted. I had been at the apartment for 5 years and they moved in and just started doing this c**p. Some people just really suck.
I don't know who, but after this incident someone made a knife-shaped hole in that assholes tire and patched it with some Juicy Fruit.

So the next time he used a racist rhetoric I made sure a camp counselor a) heard it and b) visually witnessed it before knocking him the f**k out. Oh he cried to the counselor. I don't condone violence against anyone. However, I'm all for standing up for yourself and putting an a*****e in their place.
OP shouldn't have to, but I would put up a large and very visible sign that says "Private property. [Neighbor's name] has no authority to permit parking here." Save the poor guests the trouble of having their cars towed because of her bad behavior and call her out publicly at the same time.
Ah yes once my cousin had this problematic neighbor who insisted on parking in his parking spot right in his yard, or parking right outside it so his own car can’t get out. Guess what? They had their huge mix-breed doggo outside on a leash on a tree. Next time they parked there, the person got down from the car and promptly got bitten viciously. The neighbor called the cops on my cousin but was totally told off by the police and went away with a fine for using my cousin’s yard as a parking spot.
Modern society is so entitled and selfish that it boggles the mind trying to think about how it ended up that way and it's not limited to driveways and parking either. I saw a video a few days ago with a woman stealing a parcel from a doorstep and the homeowner ran out as they were walking away and confronted the thief on camera, the thief refused to give the parcel back claiming it was hers and you could see it on her face that she genuinely believed that it now belonged to her because she wanted it (I sometimes believe there should be a law allowing you to legally smack these self entitled karens)
Porch pirates are terrible. If I had to chase down somebody stealing my stuff and they wouldn't give it back, I wouldn't be very polite about it. I would get my parcel back. And I'm an old lady! LOL!
Load More Replies...I know the previous owner of the home allowed her to use the driveway, but she can't be THAT dense that she thinks that agreement rolls over to the next owner. The woman is obviously knitting with only one needle, so you will just have to arrange with a towing company to come by every day during those dates, and if there's a car in your driveway that doesn't have YOUR license plate number, then it gets towed away, and the towing company is to send HER the bill. You cannot make it any clearer than you have. Keep all your camera evidence and tapes, and if she continues, take them to the police and ask them what you should do.
I work in a hospital. Yes, people are that delusional, and few have any kind of care for it. There are many, and they are driving cars and living in our neighborhoods. Be careful, and call the authorities. Document.

I would make a customized, Pokémon style sign saying "gotta tow em all"
This is in the UK. I feel like I remember the original post about the neighbors when they first moved in. I was like "b***h you do this in the US and you might end up getting shot!" And the OP said that it was in the UK and apparently this is common in some areas.. to just like.. use someone else's driveway without permission.... if someone did this to me I wouldn't just tow it. I would hot wire it and park it somewhere far away and act dumb! Lol
I wonder how they would feel if someone decided to use their kitchen one morning just because?
Load More Replies...Just when you thought you've heard it all....Personally, I would take this as far up the line, chain of command, as I possibly could. I would suggest blocking your driveway, but this woman may remove it anyway. However, if you choose to block, and she removes it, you've got footage to back you up. And try to record all conversations with her. First, spend a little $ to get a sign that says "private drive--all others will be towed." Whatever verbal agreement was made with the previous owner, is null and void as soon as you bought the property. Take this b***I to court if you must. You've got to make your township aware of this situation. It may cost you a little time, hopefully not $, but if you charge her for trespassing, or take her to court, it's the only way to resolve it. Do it soon, before she claims "squatters rights."
From 1 december to 25 of may (2023) I will be using your beach house, at my full disposal. And if you do not comply or leav the properfy during this dates I will be forced to call the law enforcement to have you removed until my vacation is over.
I’m joining you (make room for my suitcase), and I get the largest bedroom. Also, I go to bed at 0200, so you’ll need to do the same. Think of the fun we’ll have! We can park in any driveway that’s convenient to us, eat fresh vegetables from any gardens we find, and oooh! Let’s immediately scope out the best-dressed people in the area who wear the same sizes we do so we’ll have great wardrobes while we help ourselves to whatever catches our eyes. This is gonna be FUN!
Load More Replies...I would file charges for trespassing & harassment at this point as well. Maybe then she'll get the point. Good luck. 🤞🙏♾️✝️🧿
I would have her car towed.... from her own driveway. Not really but it sounds like a fun twist.
My property not hers. I will tow anyone who is in my driveway that I didn't personally invite or allow there. Two metal posts set in concrete, with a chain you can padlock when you go out will stop it too.
I find it hard to believe this is true... like... how could a person possibly think they have the right... it just blows my mind
Well,at least that karen had warning with her bitchy behavior.my neighbors used to have loud parties at night, and we had no warning for the parking. Also, this was the house directly behind mine.they stopped after i think they got noise control called on them.
Make a pre-emptive strike: stick up the sign suggested, and hire an old tow-truck to park in the driveway as a blocker.
Buy some frat guys some beer to come turn her car upside down in her driveway.
Many states have easements automatically become legally in place due to use over time without interference. These implied easements could be why the "Karen" thought she had the right but easements are only for access not for parking or other semi-permanent activities that block the use for anyone.
I think typically those easements must be either recorded in the deed or with the jurisdiction somehow. And usually they're if the land has been publicly used for some time. I do know that here in y state, if you live or occupy land that's not yours, without being kicked out after some period of time (I think 10 yrs?) And make some "improvement" to that land, like build on it, or even fence it, it can become yours by default. Although you'd have to fight it out in court if the owner didn't agree. That's why people are forced to visit, tour, etc, that land every so often so that doesn't happen. Seems shitty but somehow it happens still.
Load More Replies...Some people need to understand that an agreement with a neighbour to park on their driveway is with the NEIGHBOUR - NOT the house. Once the neighbour moves out of that house, you will need to change your routine, or make a new agreement with the new owner. Honest to God, I sometimes wonder where people's heads are.
Have a custom sign made that says No Parking for Karens Guests. Cars will be towed at owners expense.
Doesn't say what the exact set up is, but wondering if you can install a fence down the property line. Your driveway, your fence. Maybe she needs a visual reference to understand people's private homes are their private space. The balls on this chick! I hope you have cameras installed to view all the comings and goings. I wonder what kind of clown circus her friends are. Might be an enjoyable Reality Show
Not just the driveway but a house too. We bought the house next door for a rental. Current renters family thinks it's their house too. Crash pad and flop house. Wasn't here a month and his brother moves in. Oh Hell no. Cars and in and out at all times of the day and night. We put an end to it. They are not happy.
Even though it hasn't been in use that long I think it's time to replace Karen as a pejorative term for a white woman perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal.
Having read this entire post and the replies, I nominate “a—hole” be used in place of “Karen.” I’m STILL trying to understand what would possess someone to believe they can use another’s property in any way they see fit … and to tell others to do the same! I refuse to believe that if the shoe were on the other foot — if his kids played in A—hole’s yard, or his guests parked in A—hole’s driveway — that A—hole would be okay with it! What gets INTO people these days?! It’s obviously not brains.
Load More Replies...If she wants your driveway then make her buy your house. Lets say at 25% over value. No? Then stay off the property. "IF I CAN'T USE YOUR DRIVEWAY FOR MY OWN CARS I WILL CALL THE POLICE!!!" Said no sane person ever.
I like the deal with tow company idea. Have them standby accross the street and immediately tow anyone that leaves their car there, compile the bill at the end of the day, and serve that to the entitled twat
Spike strip time, lay is half way up the drive so her car blocks the sidewalk as well. When the cars blocking sidewalk call the ticket guys Make a small sign that says caution spike strip and place it where she can't see it until it's too late.
Of course, she is not entitled to park in your driveway. But if I have two spots available and would not use the other one, I would not be annoyed abou it. Why having all those nerves, when you don't even need both slots? I live in a hose with a driveway big enough for 5 (!) cars although nobody owns a car except me. And as soon as I park my car on the one that is owned by "certain" neighbour, he would freak out...although there is still plenty of space left available for him and his guests... Useless fights.
Jennifer, you are missing the point. Karen has no right to demand her neighbor give up his or her space.
Load More Replies...I’m actually having this kind of c**p happening. My neighbors abandoned their house in 12:2020. The space between our houses was used a communal access to the back yard but never parked in. We own more then half of it and my dad had an agreement with the og owner. Well they are gone and so is my dad. Well the neighbor on the other side owns two houses there. But constantly using the access on our property for some reason. So we decided to put our trash cans there for trash and recycling pick up. He had the nerve to call the cops to have our bins removed off our own property so he could get his backhoe through which wouldn’t fit without tearing our power and cable lines down. He got a $1000 fine bc his backhoe leaked oil next to my well! So we decided to put up a no trespassing sign, marked the property line, they put a small note saying “oops we spilled a 5gal bucket of roofing nails please don’t use driveway” guess who was upset both his motorcycle tires were flat?!?!
Notify the police with a copy if the note. Ask them to make a courtesy stop at Karen’s before the guests arrive to explain the law and its consequences.
How the f*** she sound telling me not to park on my own property?!!!!She done lost her d*** mind!
Well, I guess I am from a different time, back when people respected other people's things. I have been lucky to not have to deal with anything like I have read in all the replies. I have lived in 9 states and 2 foreign countries, so have been around. Guess I was just lucky to have good neighbors that were decent, and not this generation of it's mine, all mine bunch.
I had to do that for a neighbor, multiple times. I lived at the end of a dead end road - does NOT mean you get to park in my driveway!
I am "Cape Cod Karen from the mid-Atlantic" 😉 What else can be said! Charlene C. Lee + my Panda Bear Jun Fan, with his kissy lips!
If you can afford it, install an automatic gated fence around your property, and you can focus your energies elsewhere.
My brother had this issue with our neighbors yes we have a big driveway because it came with the house you know!? But our drive way is 40 ft from her house. She'd let 10 cars park in our driveway. Tow truck showed up one day to repo her car and people scattered like there was a fire and blamed us for calling. Now I don't think she has friends anymore... Plus we park at the entrance of our driveway now when we leave for holidays.
Please stop calling rude people "Karens". I know many women with that name, and none of them deserve to have their names misused like that.
If you don't need the second spot, why not negotiate a parking fee?
