Jonah Hill Is Tired Of People Making Remarks On His Body And Asks Fans To Stop Commenting On It
Most people have insecurities about themselves, especially their appearances and they don’t like when others bring attention to them, regardless of whether that attention is negative or positive. Being encouraged and complimented is nice, but it’s not where they want the attention to go.
An example of this is the American actor, filmmaker, and comedian Jonah Hill, who was on a weight loss journey and received so much support and love from his fans, but in a recent Instagram post, he kindly asked people to just stop commenting on his body altogether.

Actor Jonah Hill shared a message on his Instagram asking people to stop commenting on his body regardless of whether they mean well or not

Since starring in the movies Superbad (2007), Knocked Up (2007), and Get Him to the Greek (2010), Jonah Hill was known to be an actor with more weight on his bones. But in 2011, he surprised his fans with a major transformation, appearing in the movie Moneyball with a much slimmer figure. By the way, he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for that movie as well as for The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) in the same category.

After that, his weight fluctuated as he needed to adapt to various characters he was portraying. But what is important to say is that Jonah Hill didn’t feel good in his body.
In 2018, after another dramatic weight loss, the actor told Ellen DeGeneres: “I became famous in my late teens and then spent most of my young adult life listening to people say that I was fat and gross and unattractive. And it’s only in the last four years writing and directing my movie, ‘Mid90s,’ that I’ve started to understand how much that hurt and got into my head.”
Jonah Hill only just recently started to accept his body and the comments or photos in the media don’t faze him as much anymore

And it seems that Jonah Hill is getting more and more comfortable with how he looks as he opened up in an Instagram post earlier this year in February when he was caught on camera shirtless. He even posted the screenshot from the article with the photo and was proud that he has the courage to do that.
In that post, the comedian wrote that he was insecure about his weight in his childhood and becoming famous only made the insecurities worse as every inch of his body was scrutinized by the media. But now he is not fazed by the articles or videos on his appearance anymore and it’s really a liberating feeling.
But he explains that neither good nor bad comments help and they don’t make him feel better

Even then, Jonah Hill pointed out that by bringing attention to that paparazzi shot, he didn’t want to be praised for reaching a point where he accepts his own body. At the same time, he didn’t want people to feel bad for him that the media is exposing him.
Now the actor brought up the issue again, addressing his fans on Instagram and asking them to not comment on his body altogether. He acknowledged that people who comment nice things mean well, but he explained that the comments don’t feel good and don’t help him.
People in the comments under the post supported the actor and agreed that this should be applied to everyone

The post appeared on Jonah Hill’s Instagram on October 13 and over 600k people liked it. People were expressing their support for the actor in the comments and were applauding him for his words as they agreed that those comments are absolutely unnecessary.
And what do you think of Jonah Hill’s message? How do you feel about people asking others not to give them compliments or say anything regarding their appearance? Let’s have a discussion about it all in the comments!
The internet, on the other hand, had mixed reactions, although people agree that commenting on others’ appearances is an issue

Partially agreed. He did not ask for his pictures to be published by some sleazy tabloid.
Load More Replies...I'm not a fan of Jonah Hill's work, but much respect for setting boundaries.
This is seriously getting ridiculous. You have no idea who has eating disorders or body image issues (and as someone who has been almost-healthy, overweight, obese and morbidly obese, yes there are going to be body image issues). He's asking for people to please respect that and all you can say is 'no, because women.'
I don't think it's 'no, because women', it's more like 'yeah bud, good luck with that because women have tried and it doesn't work'.
Load More Replies...Well, whatever is going online, people will always have opinions about it... If you're a celebrity - people will always have opinions about you... Especially low-quality media sources...
Yes, they will. And many people will be assholes. But he's still within his rights to make a request and the world would still be better if we all changed our habits to not comment on people's bodies.
Load More Replies...Setting boundaries is a good thing although when you are in the public eye, it's not as acceptable as it should be.
This is just attention seeking from a fading star. Good job on the virtue signalling
You don't know what "virtue signalling" means and you're another profile looking for all the world like you're going out of your way not to listen to someone else. The meaning behind your comment is "I don't like what this person is asking and my opinions are more important".
Load More Replies...I will just say this. No matter how you look, no matter what your appearance...I wish you a long, happy and healthy life.
He could turn off commenting. He could post somewhere that allows him to do that. Or *GASP!* he could NOT LOOK AT THE COMMENTS!!! Isn't that what all of you loony lefties suggest to those of us who are pro-self discipline??? Get some logical consistency, please. The whole purpose of the internet is for the free and open exchange of ideas. If you post something publically you do not get to choose or control what gets said about it.
I get mixed feelings from this. On one hand, I feel for Jonah not wanting his physique on the radar anymore. On the other hand, though, I feel cynical because apparently when women ask not to be viewed as objects anymore it makes no difference, but a man says it and suddenly it's like "oh yeah how have we not realized this sooner?". I guess those are two different things from eachother. I want Jonah to feel happy but I also want women to feel happy. In addition: the article asks how we feel about not complimenting each other anymore? But that's the thing with compliments - it may be a compliment to YOU but it may feel weird for someone else. Compliment the things people do or say, not how they look.
They're not "two different things". You can advocate for PEOPLE listening to PEOPLE and you can also be angry that when the PEOPLE happen to be WOMEN others often don't listen. But that doesn't change the validity of this request one iota. People regularly being assholes to women doesn't mean we give up and say "oh well, for fairness I guess you should be an asshole to everyone". We keep trying to not make them assholes to anyone.
Load More Replies...Yeah, and most women have bad that from random men on the streets for a good portion of their lives and been threatened for objecting. He'll be fine.
people can have their opinions, but most of them should not be shared unless asked, even if it's about someone putting themselves out there publicly such as a celebrity. If everyone lived by this rule, things would be much better. Making fun of the way an actor looks is no different then making fun of someone working in any other profession. Would you consider it ok to call a server in a restaurant or a receptionist, or even a doctor, lawyer, etc. a fat ass because they work with the public so are thereby free game?
His life... his body, let him be. Yes he posted pictures, so what... He knew what he was doing and the backlash it would have. So is really wrong? .... You don't want a comment, then don't post. JS
I do smell some privileges. If people like him cant lose weight when they have the money to hire a full time physical coach/cook and find the time for a period in their life to get in shape/healthy/lose weight, who the f**k can?
Everyone judges everyone else's looks. Being a hypocrite about it, just to get woke points, is pathetic.
Oh i know that feeling very well. i feel really bad, to take my shirt off in public, even if i am alone there.
I loved Buddy Spencer movies as a kid and the guy reminds of him in a way with his new look. Anyway, people always want their celebs to look a certain since time immemorial. Is it good, no, but it's the reality. You just develop a thick skin and move on.
Lol he's a hypocrite. He has a public social media suck it up or shut down your profile.
You're trolling BORED PANDA. Is that really what your life is worth? Come on dude. Go for a walk, plant a pumpkin vine, sing to a baby, bake a lemon cake, start carpentry lessons. Do SOMETHING positive. You'll feel better and so will we.
