It is not unusual to see celebrities getting in several relationships, breaking up, getting married and getting divorced in short periods of time. For us it may seem like they're playing just another role and entertaining their fans but it’s their real life and they go through real emotions with long-lasting consequences.

We may often not see the pain they go through, but it’s not the case with Johnny Depp’s and Amber Heard’s relationship as the defamation lawsuit the actor filed against his ex-wife went to trial and is broadcasted in its whole entirety for people to watch and have a glimpse of what happened between the two and what they feel about one another.

The trial is far from over but one of the two most important witnesses in this case, Johnny Depp, just completed his testimony so we will take a look at what are people’s thoughts on what happened in the courtroom so far.

Everyone encourages women to talk vent and share their experiences. Men? Not so much. They say the minimum and are told they talk to much

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard started dating around 2012 and people realized that the couple were in a serious relationship when they spotted the woman wearing a ring that was assumed to be an engagement ring in 2014. The actor confirmed the rumors and the couple married in a private ceremony in 2015.

However, the marriage didn’t last that long as on May 23, 2016, Amber Heard filed for a divorce. Not only did she want to separate from her husband, she obtained a temporary restraining order against him because she claimed that he physically abused her during their relationship due to the man suffering from drug or alcohol addiction. The divorce case ended in 2017 with Amber Heard receiving a $7 million settlement.

My mother and sister are my abusers. My mother started her abuse (physical, mental, verbal, and emotional) when I was maybe 5. My mother abused my father as well - including physically. I’m no stranger to “women can be abusers, too”. It always surprises me when other people seem to not believe that.

Since then, Johnny Depp’s reputation plummeted and if people mentioned his name, they would also bring up the accusations of abuse. Things escalated when The Sun published an article with the headline "GONE POTTY How Can J K Rowling be 'genuinely happy' casting wife beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?" and Johnny Depp decided to defend his reputation in court.

In November 2020, the actor lost the case and after trying to appeal, he again got a negative answer. He had to step down from the role as the villain Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series and he lost his iconic role of Jack Sparrow in the Pirates franchise as well as several others.

I have been wondering if there is some way women who have truly been/are a domestic violence survivor/victim could come together and form a class action suit against Amber for defamation of character or something equivalent. I know it might be a long shot but I think it would help stop selfish, narcissistic people like her from falsely claiming to be a DV victim.

"Wom[e]n like Amber Heard…" There are very few women like Amber Heard, because there are very few men willing to admit that they're the victims of domestic violence. In fact, women like Heard have very little effect on anything because, historically, we have excoriated and further humiliated men like Depp, not supported them.

Thing is, if she went to the police etc and did things "properly" then JD could've cleared his name over a trial straight away - the fact she didn't, that instead she started rumours and tore him down that way to me shows a manipulative and abusive nature. I think everyone who makes abuse allegations should be taken seriously regardless of gender - but also that those proven to have lied in order to punish someone should face appropriate punishment - it's fraud, it not only can ruin a person but also time and money of everyone involved including the court costs

No bibi, you wobbling idiot. The reason why most abused women didn't get justice is the system is stacked against the,. Male cops, male judges, legal advice from males. Your opinion is utter crap. Amber heard is the exception, not the rule. Try using your dull stupid wits to think a thing through before you speak .2 out of 3 rapes go unreported. And of those only 33% resulted in arrest, as an example.

We've all heard the story about the kid who cried wolf. Turd is the reason actual victims aren't taken seriously. My maternal grandmother apparently not on beat her children, she also beat her husband. Thankfully my mother got out at 15 and never looked back. Unfortunately we don't have any photos of her as a kid. The earliest one I can think of is when she states nursing school at 17 in 1962.

I feel like both men and women who get abused aren’t taken as seriously as they should. It also depends on the situation if the man gets taken seriously or if the women gets taken seriously.

Truth. I'm already hearing the arguments of "Well, that Amber Heard, she PROVED and UNCOVERED how women lie. You're just angry now because it's been proven" - her lies will be used as a weapon. Sure, she's 'just one' - but she'll be the poster child for all the abusive pieces of garbage of out there grasping for confirmation bias.

When something happens to women and some men comments about how we are also abused, most women tells us to shut up, they say "we're talking about women's problems now"... So how about you let this reflect men's problems with abuse, and how there's a culture about witch hunting men without evidence, instead of trying to redirect it to women problems again???

I remember a case where a woman was struck by her boyfriend and became the poster girl for "abuse" ... women who suffer abuse do so for stretches of time, not for one incident ... one strike does not define abuse and saying so is an affront to women (and men) that have experienced long stretches of violence that can traumatize them for years after ...

Um, what now? It sounds like you're saying that if you're only hit one time that's not being abused (it is) and that saying so is insulting to people who have been abused for years. Is...is that what you're saying? Please tell me I'm wrong.

But the current lawsuit has roots in 2018 when Amber Heard herself wrote an op-ed piece which was published by The Washington Post in which she revealed that she suffered from abuse.

The actress didn’t mention Depp’s name but his lawyers and her ex-husband believed that it was a clear reference to their relationship, so they filed a lawsuit against her for defamation in 2019 with the hope of restoring Johnny Depp's reputation.

The lawsuit started on April 11 and it is predicted to last for 6 weeks. On April 25, one of the two protagonists of the case, Johnny Depp, finished his testimony after being questioned by attorneys.

In these 4 days, many audio clips, messages and stories were shared, bringing to the surface all the dirt and pain the man went through. They talked about his drug and alcohol addictions, about his questionable behavior and he talked about experiencing abuse himself that came from his mother and many other quite shocking events. He also claimed that he was the one being abused while he was married to Amber Heard.

Many stories surfaced as other witnesses were called to testify, like Depp’s older sister, Christi Dembrowski, Depp’s doctor, Dr. David Kipper, his security guard Sean Bett, etc. There are actually around 120 people on the witness list for both sides. It includes some big names like Elon Musk, Ellen Barkin, Paul Bettany and James Franco.

There is still a long way to go, but it seems that people’s opinions are changing and they are seeing both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard in a different light. More and more people are coming to Depp’s side and realizing that actually he is the victim and this lawsuit is his opportunity to speak up about his side of the story that he hadn't had the chance to do before.

Many people are now villainizing Amber Heard and are very amused by her attorneys, who oftentimes ask irrelevant questions and make remarks that a professional shouldn't make while questioning Johnny Depp and witnesses who are on his side.

It is not clear what the reactions will be after Amber Heard testifies and the attorneys question witnesses that believe she is the victim. And it is also hard to judge who is saying the truth or catch when they are lying or exaggerating, so we would like to know, who do you believe more? Do you agree with Twitter’s reactions? Also, let us know your predictions of how this case will end in the comments!
