As someone who was sexually abused as a young girl from the age of 10-13, and then picked the wrong men for so long, I am so happy for Johnny Depp. I knew about his early life with and abusive mother (woman). My sexual abuser as a young girl, teen, was non other than my older sister (woman). When you have not gone through this kind of trauma it is terribly difficult to act it out, especially in a court of law.
I don't know enough about the case but why did everyone know that Amber was lying from day 1?
We didn't, most people believed her when she initially made the accusations. It was after the tapes on which she admits to hitting Johnny and taunts him about being a DV victim were leaked that the tide really started to turn against her.

I’d like to add an important part here! As a person who has been abused and watcher her mother abused by a drunken, violent man, she made my blood boil with her lies. It takes a victim to know one and that she was lying through her teeth made me wonder why she isn’t judged with lying on the stand! You're concerned that an abuser who admitted on an audio recording that she sometimes loses herself and gets violent is getting called out for her abuse? I find this casual 'both sides were abusive' b******t quite hypocritical. When a man assaults a woman, nobody dares to say that 'both parties were abusive to each other' but when a man is victimized by a narcissistic, manipulative and abusive woman who refuses to ever accept any fault of hers, suddenly people love to care about the rights of the abuser because she's a woman. As a woman, I find it extremely offensive. I am really torn about the whole saga and will probably be downvoted for this comment. For the record, I am glad Depp got justice. He was clearly a victim. But he is not a hero. He is not the saint his very vocal supporters are making him out to be. It is important to remember that this was a defamation trial, not a criminal trial and the allegations of abuse were not made out to the standard of a criminal trial - either the allegations by Johnny or against him. Having followed the evidence and read the judgment it is fairly clear that this was a toxic and mutually abusive relationship that was plagued by addiction, alcohol and personality disorders. It certainly highlights the issues faced by victims who do not fit the "perfect victim" stereotype, whether that is due to their gender or otherwise. I hope they both find some way to move on heal.

This may be naïve, but I believe the freedom of speech is limited by false allegations, libel, slander, and the like. The United States is the land of the free, but there are consequences for shouting "Fire" in every movie theater when there is no fire. For Heard to fall back on Freedom Of Speech is damaging. It's the "It was just a joke" of the highest order. United Staters already struggle with the idea of emergencies and misinformation. As someone who was born and raised in the US, I'm sorry this story detracted from the rest of the news.

So her being recorded admitting to assaulting JD, telling her therapist that she hits him to make him stay in a argument, lying about donating money, her stories about abuse changing to make it sound worse every time she retells it, lying about him assaulting Kate Moss is her being abuse. The evidence supported JD the majority of which was not allowed to be heard in the UK trial nor was her evidence questioned in the way it was in Virginia because if it had been the outcome would of been very different. If anything Heard has made it harder for anyone who has suffered or is suffering to come forward for fear of not being believed. This is not a case of the world hating women this is a case of 1 woman being exposed for the nasty manipulative liar she is. My understanding is that was a quote from a film - with that context, it's not as bad. Depp never claimed to be an angel - in fact he was probably a thoroughly unpleasant person to live with - but that doesn't give the right for someone to make up lies about him and destroy his life in order to further their own career. Depp never claimed to be an angel - in fact he was probably a thoroughly unpleasant person to live with - but that doesn't give the right for someone to make up lies about him and destroy his life in order to further their own career.
