Japanese Photographer Documents The Beauty Of Everyday Life In Japan

My name is Takashi Yasui, I’m 35 years old, and live in Osaka, Japan. Basically, I take photos in Kyoto so I call myself a “Kyoto Photographer,” documenting the everyday life and Japanese culture. About five years ago, when my niece was born, I started taking family photos; that’s how I started my professional photographer career.

About 4 years ago I installed Instagram on my iPhone and began to follow photographers from all over the world. Their cool photos had a big impact on me: I met a lot of Instagrammers in Japan, leaned about street photography, how to shoot, how to edit, how to find a location, composition, perspective, and things like that. Recently, I met few talented photographers from the US, Canada, and France, and was exposed to their interesting photos. It really helped me to grow as a photographer. Now, photography is more than a pleasure, it is a passion for me.

I’m shooting with Fujifilm X-T10, X-M1 with XF14mmF2.8 R, XF35mmF1.4 R. Editing with Lightroom, using VSCO film presets.

Beautiful photos... for the record most Japanese people don't wear kimonos in everyday life, as these pictures seem to portray. I wish they did though!

These are gorgeous photoes, but honestly, they don't look like the everyday life in Japan. They look more like tourists' photo sites to me... I mean... Japanese people don't live in temples or wear kimonos every day...

Some Japanese people do live in temples and wear kimono everyday. Most do not. The side of Japan that is everyday is not so photogenic.

You are a very talented photographer. Maybe you should submit some of your photos to National Geographic.

I am totally impressed by the beauty you've captured so eloquently, Takashi Yasui San. How interesting that there are virtually no faces in these pictures. Thank you for sharing with us.

If the pic. number 10th was taken between September last year, the first and second person from the left could be me and my friend :)

I was very happy to visit Japan this year as I had wished for it for a long long time. It is the most beautiful and amazing country I have ever been to. Thank you for these pictures as they make me feel as overwhelmed with emotions as if I still would be there seeing it with my own eyes.

What a lovely bunch of hypocrites you are , awarding "minus points" for a man giving HIS opinion. Which by the way ,was asked of him. I'm sure there are others that agree with him.
