You know that feeling when you walk away from an argument and think of the perfect comeback? Only it's 5 years later? Well, there's none of that here. These people knew bullsh*t when they saw it and had the wit to immediately call it out. Just like the 44 Of The Best Internet Clapbacks To Racists, these responses to islamophobes challenge their views and the (lack of) rationale behind them in ways that deserve all the attention they can get. Yep, and whenever there's a Christian terrorist, the whole Christian community isn't asked to vocally condemn their actions and every Christian isn't stopped on the street and harassed because of the acts of another Christian

Another unattainable ideal for women, getting deported back into the womb to be reborn as anything else the ignorant white people can handle.

As a native Swede and white protestant (atheist actually...) and mainly as a woman I see the so called question about the burkini as a feminist matter. The burkini provides freedom to swim, and also learning how to swim too, to the women who wears them so to ban it would be anti-feminist. And that's the first reason to why I care. Secondly: women wear what we want.

Honestly I'd rather wear that to the beach than a bikini or swimsuit...

Having your body covered is a way to control a stranger's reaction to you, because now you have to judge them on their personality instead of outward appearances. The same people that feel "uncomfortable" when someone else covers their body feel "uncomfortable" when someone walks around nude. I think we need to keep our discomfort to ourselves, stop feeling offended in others behalf and acknowledge we are not all the same.

The don't wear it for that reason though. It's worn because religion insinuates men are wild beasts with zero self control, who go crazy at the mere sight of unclolthed hair or ankles. And it insinuates women's natural bodies are a threat to society because men supposedly react that way. It's not about modesty, it's about making people (women) ashamed of their own bodies.

Three things 1. You don't need to constantly expose yourself to be pretty. 2. Religion is always more important than going outside and swimming in skimpy bikinis to the delight of men. 3. People should just mind their business!!!!

Everyone should wear what they want. You want to go swim in a burqini? Go ahead and have fun. You want to go skinny dipping? Go ahead and have fun. But everyone stop telling each other what (not) to wear!

So I wonder if there was a covering whole body swimsuit for men for religious reasons, would society judge and disapprove?

We just need to learn how to respect others. In the first place they didn't tell you to look on them while wearing burqini so it's not their fault. And can we just mind our own business. =-)

I would complement her. The pattern of the material and the pretty blue looks very nice on her.

What would The Atlantic say when it's a Chinese woman swimming, as they are covered from head to toe (including a face mask, think balaclava), so they don't get a suntan? Probably nothing because she's not a Muslim (except when she's an Uighur, who are Muslims). So does it have anything to do with her swimwear... I don't think so.

Being modest shouldn't be a crime. I'm of the opinion that people should be allowed to present themselves in the manner that best suits THEM. If you don't like it or don't approve - go f**k yourself. None of us are here for you.

Hey, hey people. Women can't swim topless if they want because its offensive, but people get angry at a woman who wants to actually be fully dressed in the water. Its a f*****g double edged sword for women isn't it? Damned if we do damned if we don't.

No, you don't HAVE to wear it. Neither does that woman in the picture. Now, if you WANT to wear it, I'm sure you can find a nice one in your size. Like the woman in the picture.

Whoa! You can actually swim in those rags? Who knew? I have read that most Muslim women hate the garb they are forced to wear. It is only worn to placate their male tormentors.

I mean, I really dont mind Islamists and their dress code or something, but I was at vacation in Turkey and Egypt, and I must say, that Arabians, who was in the hotel too was really messy, dont know how to behave. The mess they leave at restaurant every day, that thousand of plates and dirty table cloth, they creaming across the whole area, or even fighting between each other... little chidren pooping in the swimming pool, they leave trash on the beach, dont use trash bin... visit toilet after them is clear horror... But on the other hand, the personal was also a muslims and they was really kind, willing, they apologised for theese customers... Sometimes I think, the true reason why the ydont eat pigs is because, they are their relatives acording what mess they are able to leave

Please don't attack me, but as a woman, it really seems to me that these are quite uncomfortable and impractical to wear at the beach and in the water, and it's probably not a good idea to sit aroung in wet clothing. I may be wrong and it could be just me, but I can't stand wet clothes sticking to me.

Yeah but... Shouldn't these women be allowed to wear whatever the f**k they want on the beach? Just because you'd be uncomfortable doesn't mean they are, no one is forcing you to wear a burkini.

Nawaz’s choice of words is quite interesting. He left the Islamist organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir in 2007, renounced his Islamist past and called for a secular Islam. Now he is a prominent critic of Islamism in the UK. On the other hand he calls himself a political prisoner. He wasn’t! He served time in Egypt because he was member of an extremist organization, which is banned in most Islamic countries and also in some European countries.

As mutch as i don't like to diminish christian atrocities i have to say that the nazis were not motivated by religion in any meaningfull way, it is true that as far as i know the church did nothing to stop them though.
