Iranian men are protesting a compulsory law which forces women to wear hijabs. They express their solidarity by donning headscarfs themselves and posting images of their actions on social media with #MenInHijab hashtag.
Iran wasn't always like that. Everything started back in 1983 when the country passed conservative laws to prevent men from sexually advancing towards women. One way of ensuring this was making sure women wore modest clothing in public as well as a hijab. In case of disobedience, detention and even lashes were introduced as punishments. Nonetheless, eventually women began rebelling.
In 2014 Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad founded an online movement against the enforced hijab, called My Stealthy Freedom. One of her campaigns is #MenInHijab. It advocates women's rights and highlights the violation of freedoms that strict dressing laws are causing. Men who join the cause openly wear the hijab in public and share their support with the whole world online. Bored Panda invites you to join the movement and show your support

Bravo to each and every man who's participated and to the brave woman who dared organize such poignant acts of protest.
ALL of these men are AMAZING! Is that Arnold Schwarzenegger?? JK
It's so unfair. World need to speak up for them! So many people in Europe and USA talk about hijab and freedom of choice, empowerment, etc. and they even want to promote it.. If they would really care about these values, they would in first place care about whole countries and nations where wearing hijab, niqab, burqa is forced.
These men are very brave because posting these pictures with their real names? With such a government it's very dangerous and I would be interested to know how many of them were harassed for their opinion. Yeah these men really have all my admiration, they are amazing.

The problem is the Hijab in itself is not bad. It's the forced wearing that is a problem. I am always encouraged when men get involved in gender equality issues.
Most are forced by society. As a Brother to two sisters, i can confirm. Nobody likes feeling like a potato in a bag
Load More Replies...I know its not the point of the posts, but the hijab really suit most of these men :)
I actually thought so too, it brought out a lot of their eyes.
Load More Replies...I respect your view. However, I would like to clearify that religion (at least in Islam, i can't speak for other religions), hijab or other kind of covering is NOT FORCED. It is recommended, but not forced. If you choose not to cover, then that is your decision and it's between you and God. No one else can say anything about it. Please keep in mind that here it is the GOVERMENT that forces covering, not the RELIGION. I hope that clearifies :)
