To make our lives easier and more comfortable, people have always come up with new inventions and most of them have been really useful, like cutlery or medicine to treat illnesses that were once incurable. But there are inventions that benefit humans less and may even be dangerous.
We all probably have looked at something, couldn’t understand the purpose of it and thought that it was unnecessary to invent it. Redditor numbnerve wanted to know what people think is the invention we would be better off without and over 22k people joined the discussion with some serious answers.

Okay this depends. Masterchef Australia is considered reality TV and it's a great show. There is no drama between contestants as they are super supportive of one another. The only drama is if they will finish the food on time.
I used to love the "single cook" educational shows. Once they got rid of those and started showing competitive stuff, I was gone.

Any show where the competitors help each other, and hug and cry over the one who has to leave like: The Great British Baking Show, The Great Canadian Baking Show, Making It, Next in Fashion. Also try Blown Away, Glow Up, The Big Flower Fight. Love The Voice, So You Think You Can Dance, America's Got Talent, The Masked Singer, World of Dance... And don't forget Mythbusters! I don't know all the proper terms but I think some of the shows on your list aren't quite what I think the OP is really referring to which is often called 'scripted reality' eg Love Island. The others are competition, property shows, cooking shows - more non-fiction, rather than reality TV which is a misnomer as it seems to be a strange depiction of what they think reality should be. If that makes any sense!!

The thing about this is it's still on the air because ALL Y'ALL WATCH IT! Stop watching it and it will go away. Supply meets demand.
What really irritates me about it is that it's on channels that used to be legitimate learning channels. The Discovery Channel used to rock and TLC literally stands for "The Learning Channel" , look at the BS that it's pumping out anymore. Now, if you want to watch the shows that you used to watch you have to pay for Discovery +++++ or Paramount + Apple ++-- Peacock and the list never ends. They have us by the balls.

I liked The Osbournes and the first couple of series of Big Brother but apart from that, not really interested, my wife likes things like don't tell the bride and come dine with me, come dine with me is alright I guess.

The UK doesn't have so much trouble with these thanks to the Telephone Preference Service, which allows people to opt-out of sales calls. I have a Raspberry Pi with a Fax Modem that monitors incoming calls on my landline and answers as a fax machine to unknown numbers or numbers I have blocked. Really we should be beyond this, but the telecommunications industry doesn't seem to want to fix it.

They’ve ruined the environment by killing off the pollinators. I swear, they will be the reason for more food shortages just as swiftly as climate change will affect us all.
Cookie pop-ups. How come we still don't have a more efficient way to manage our browsing privacy.
Some sites are better than others, but it is starting to get annoying, as when you decline cookies on a site, it can't set a cookie to say that you declined cookies, so it asks you every ruddy time you visit it! Not all cookies are evil and some are needed to make sites work, such as remembering preferences and logins, but tracking cookies can go and do one!

Websites that jump down as they load, but load text/pics/vids/ads all at different speeds, so just as you go to click on one links something else suddenly opens higher up and the whole page hops down in response, sending you to the completely wrong link. It's a small annoyance that culminates as you keep hopping back and falling for it again, and absolutely the sort of small clue culminating in realizing you're not actually in the Good Place.

The 50 people in this online group were definitely tree huggers who are "health conscious" that believe in gluten free this and vegetarian/vegan that. I wouldn't be surprised if they made this list up to 75 things and they would add on deodorant because they believe crystals would do the job better without all the "nasty" chemicals.
I think many of the things mentioned above are really up to people not controlling their own behavior. Not taking personal responsibility for their actions and choices. Cigarettes, alcohol, bad tv, gambling, etc. Are all ok in small doses once in a while. But if you choose to let yourself get lost in these activities then that is on you.
Everyone involved in the production and subsequent advertising of Baby Shark should be shot at dawn. Psychological warfare isn't cool.

Which brings me to the over use of FAQ sections instead of contact details. When you are trying to talk to them about retrieving a business account password and you are given options like "I am trying to retrieve my account because my hamster now has diabetes"
