I’ve Been Experimenting With And Learning From Papercuts For More Than 6 Years, Here Are My 8 Cutouts Of Indian Havelis

I am Parth Kothekar from Ahmedabad, India. For more than 6 years now I have been experimenting with and learning from, papercuts. In order to challenge myself, I come up with a thematic paper art series from time to time.

Intricacy and beauty have always inspired me. This takes me to various architectural monuments in India. I have seen that almost every culture in India, throughout time, has left its mark through heritage architecture. Such a level of detailed art carved into stones during a period that had no modern tools inspired a sense of reverence in me. I wished to portray this amazing art side to side with the timeless intricate beauty of Mother Nature. The architecture displayed in these filigree papercuts is from the spectacular Havelis of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, and various monuments of the Mughal era.

Each work of art is cut out with a craft knife and took me a minimum of 15 days to complete.

I have shared all my previous series on Bored Panda here, here and here.

My unique artworks are available for purchase on Etsy.

Each one has such fine detail in it! Cutting out all those little pieces must have taken much patience and time!

Absolutely gorgeous! Such patience! You must change blades frequently, especially with paper. So impressive and beautiful!!

These are beautiful. And the patience. How on earth does she keep those blades so sharp? These blades are so sharp and thin, you could slice your finger open and it wouldn't bleed right away because it would take a moment for your body to realize it.

the symmetry in each piece.. in each cut... is truly the most impressive part... each one completely balanced... you made each cut symmetrically on point... just amazing
