This Girl Does An Extreme Guest Room Makeover In 5 Days And The Internet Is In Love

The Internet is packed with inspirational ideas on interior design but turning these room designs into reality is often much more challenging and requires talent, skills, and, well, hard work. But what if we told you it’s possible to do an extreme home remodeling project in 5 days all by yourself and on a budget? A former fashion photographer, currently a blogger as well as a YouTuber, Leanne Lim-Walker, recently went viral on Twitter after she shared how she turned an empty, dull space into an impressive dream room that looks straight from interior design ideas magazine cover.

Leanne and her fiancé, Paul, bought their house a year ago and have been renovating it room by room to make it feel like home while sharing the journey on Instagram.

“It was my 30th last weekend and I had surprise guests visiting. Instead of them sleeping on an airbed in an ugly blue room, I took it as a chance for another room makeover (in 5 days),” Leanne shared the story behind the urgent transformation of the guest room in her Instagram post.

But don’t get fooled by quick and easy before and afters. If you decide to renovate a place, you have to be prepared for a serious challenge. Even the master of her craft, Leanne, opened up about the arduous task. “A very satisfying ‘the after’ and that’s in no time for you but a week of blood, sweat, and tears for me,” – Leanne said in her in-depth YouTube video that reveals the process of redoing the guest room.

People on the Internet immediately fell in love with Leanne’s work and didn’t hold back their appreciation under the viral tweet which got 287k likes. Some of them got inspired to pimp their own places, others were ready to visit the glamorous guest room made by our DIY queen.

Beautiful restoration, but - in my opinion - this room was not dull at all! Think about simple empty cubical space without fancy niche, without an old fireplace, without rustic wardrobe, without floor from old boards... this would be boring!

Agree... I would have accented the different angles and shapes in the walls and I would have kept the floor the natural wood instead of painting it. Also would have painted the fireplace something softer, not black. But that's just me.

If she likes it that's cool - it's her home and all. I wouldn't buy a house where the previous owners ruined nice old brick and wood by painting over them. It's not going to stay looking nice and it's a huge pain to refinish. IMO she wrecked the best feature of the room.

Amazing what you can do to an empty room when you have the money.

She didn't spend any money worth mentioning. It's the cheapest (yet effective) reno you can do. Tearing out nasty carpet and painting are EASY.

Great job. Pro tip - if you are tossing out the carpet and are also painting, leave the carpet down as a full room drop cloth!

Sorry but painting the old brick is a sacrilege. Why would you do that?! Now it looks cheap and screams "I wanted to make this look cool but failed". Also the colour of the floor.. what is that supposed to be? Puke-pink?

What is it with all these savages we're seeing lately that carpet /tile over perfectly good hard wood floors? My heart hurts looking at that.

Why did she paint the candles? She couldn't buy black candles? Strange, but the best is pretty. I wouldn't have painted over the brick and the wood floors, but other than that it's nice

All she needs is a pumpkin spice latte and she'd be the perfect basic instabore.

Unfortunately she didn’t have enough time to hang up the painting or tidy the room. Also, plants (a cactus no less) in front of a closet isn’t exactly good interior decorating... It’s a nice Instagram likes magnet, but not very practical.

Painted the walls white. ALL white. Took out the carpet and painted the floor. Added a few odds and ends and it took a week? The room looked great before.

It's beautiful, and she did amazing work. It helped that she had a fireplace and those gorgeous little nooks and that there were beautiful floorboards under that ugly carpet. But even so - she has an eye for beauty and made a stunning space. Kudos :)

I absolutely adore the features like the arch, floorboards and cupboard. The decor is lovely too but not really my style.

That framed photo. I didn't know that putting photos on the floor instead of hanging it was still a thing. And finger-mustache too while we're there...

OMG. How boring. White, white, and white, with a little black, and even less than Donald Trump's favorite, gold-ish. Who's cleaning that little white box with ignored architectural details? Not the designer, I'll bet. As a former 'cleaning lady', I laugh. I snigger. I retire.
