American author Nathaniel Hawthorne once said: "Time flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind." Let's explore that tail, shall we? It's not an easy task, but Bored Panda put together a list of photos that capture this elusive silhouette quite well.

From a meatball that has spent decades in epoxy to 1,800-year-old Roman leather sandals, the things you're going to see below have all faced the biggest battle in the universe — the passage of time — but took different wounds. Continue scrolling to compare them and if you want more of the same, fire up our similar publications here, here, and here.

Well, I got mine at the thrift store for $5. No moneyback guarantee, but I still consider it a bargain.

If the manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty, it doesn't matter how or where you got it. Kingston offers a lifetime warranty on their computer memory modules. They replaced memory modules from donated computers and laptops after I applied for RMA.

They’re a terrific company. I have three of their pans. They were my grandmothers and will probably last long enough to give to my great grandkids.

Lodge cookware lasts forever. My gramma has had the same Bundt cake pan for about 50 years, and it was made by, you guessed it, Lodge.

I will have to remember that brand. My Dutch oven doesn't have a name stamped. I got it at Sams Club.I think it was Martha Stewart.

We had a garden fork with a lifetime guarantee and the company was so good when we emailed them it was a bit of a shock. We received the new one the following day too!

I thought it's was a Le Creuset, they're also good. Would they replace like you did. Not sure though.

They would. My mother wore through the enamel on one of her pots which was a wedding present from 1984, and the company replaced it.

It says Lodge -- they're a cast iron company. Very reasonably priced too.

My first reaction was men are taller so naturally push on the door higher than the positioned "plate". Then I re read the title and sadly realised that females are still grossly under represented in most engineering departments.

Fun fact: you know those trees which have a million coins in? Well they are wishing coin trees, and people used to and still do hammer coins in to it with stones for a wish. There's a massive one near where I live with hundreds of coins in.
