In the UK we get a text and also an email with a mapped router showing the journey our blood has made from donation point to the lab where it is checked and then off to the hospital it was issued to.

I had a really bad bleed from the bowel in 2011 and received 7 pints of blood, and it's only lately I got to thinking that each person gives a pint of blood so that means 7 people saved my life and I would dearly love for them to know how grateful I am.
