UberFacts says it shares "the most unimportant things you'll never need to know" and I have to admit, that's a pretty accurate description of its content. Launched in 2009, the Internet project provides people with random facts on all kinds of topics.

From the number of janitors in the US with PhDs to the genius way Swedes protested their government classifying homosexuality as an illness, these titbits of information will make you an expert on trivia in no time. So grab yourself some broccoli (random fact: the vegetable is rich in vitamin K, and a few studies in older adults have linked a higher vitamin K intake to better memory), continue scrolling, and upvote your favorite entries!

As it turns out, there are some biological reasons behind people's desire to "store" trivia in their brain and the rush of excitement they feel when they get the chance to use it. According to psychologist John Kounios Ph.D., it's a lot like playing roulette, too.

"You get a rush or a neuroreward signal or a dopamine burst from winning," the professor of psychology and director of the doctoral program in applied cognitive and brain sciences at Drexel University in Pennsylvania, told Healthline. "I think whenever you're challenged with a trivia question and you happen to know it, you get a rush. It's sort of like gambling."

He said the benefits can also be similar to those of playing video games. However, unlike gambling and video games, trivia is generally not a potentially dangerous habit, Kounios said.

"I don't think there are any pitfalls. Like anything else that's fun, it takes up time."

Moreover, retaining information about things we're interested in can be like an exercise for the frontal cortex as the brain ages.

"That's the first thing to go with injury or with age if we don't use it," Deborah Stokes, Ph.D., L.P.C., B.C.N., a psychologist in Virginia who focuses on neurotherapy, said.

So there you have it, folks. Browsing trivia isn't a waste of time. It's a mental workout!

Liechtenstein was invaded by Swiss armed forces on at least four occasions, they took a wrong turning, for two of which Switzerland apologized and Lichtenstein had no idea why.

Nevermind Trump making me miss Barack Obama, he even makes me pine for the days when GW Bush was in power. George and Michelle's easy-going friendship demonstrates that democrats and republicans are not mortal enemies, as Trump would have you believe. A good leader unites his countrymen, not divides them like der Drumpf.

Not calling out either side here because i completely support peoples right to protest. But 7% of thousands of protests can still do quite a lot of damage and at least 25 people have died from protests / political unrest.

There are more terrorist attacks/threats on US home soil than terrorist threats/attacks from other countries. This is why their gun laws are pathetic, you are more likely to be accidentally shot by your own gun than by a terrorist from another country.

Indeed - or deliberately shot by police for making them "feel threatened" while they scream at you with their weapons already drawn.

@Dori Krutzinger Have you looked closely at the two photos you posted? Obviously you are trying your best to make black folks look like the enemy of society, but did you actually look at them? The man with the Target cart is certainly 'looting.' There is no doubt of that at all. Stop and look at what he has chosen to steal; Ordinary mundane household items, and a handful of children's toys. Criminals steal jewelry, electronics, alcohol, tools, etc. People who simply have nothing left to lose are the people who steal ordinary necessities. People feel they have nothing left to lose when they find themselves in a society which labels and excludes them practically from birth. Changing that society is what we must do.

Since 911 there have been over 200 terrorist attacks in the U.S. Only 11 of them have been by Islamists. The rest have been almost exclusively by white supremacists.

Unfortunately, for the longest time, DHS ignored them in favor of foreign terrorists—-who, after 9/11, targeted other countries way more than the US. I worked for TSA from 2012-2017. Even after one TSO was killed and another wounded—-on the job!—-whenever I would bring up domestic terrorism to the terror “specialists” making their frequent presentations to us, I’d get the deer in the headlights look before they plunged right back into talking about how Al-Quaeda and ISIS (and their cohorts) were out to kill us—-even though they had to cross a continent and an ocean to get here, while the homegrown terrorists just had to get in their pickup trucks and drive a much shorter distance.

Where is quote UberFacts unquote getting these quote facts unquote>?!? You guys are doing NOTHING but stirring up MORE trouble. You are making it seem that EVERYONE that is WHITE is a White Supremacist Terrorist! And your readers think every white person with a gun is a White Nazi Supremacist Terrorist out to kill every person of color in the country! This has GOT to stop. Legal gun ownership is just THAT! LEGAL!!! And it doesn't matter who is the Legal owner. What is wrong is when that Legal shop owner is beaten, robbed and every gun in his shop is stolen and handed out to the pucks in the urbs. What is wrong is when illegal guns are brought across the borders and bought by unscrupulous thugs. But does anyone want to fight that? Oh, Hell, no!! You guys just want to take away the guns from LEGAL, RESPONSIBLE gun owners. And, and you want to get rid of the Police. NOPE, I will refrain from that stupidity and keep my LEGAL 2A guns.

for reference, a terrorist is, a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims." Under that definition, BLM and Antifa are terrorist organizations, but are not recognized as such and are subsequently excluded from the running of "most severe domestic threat". The irony is, that if we continue to ignore BLM and Antifa, its only a matter of time before the truly bad elements of white supremacy group and/ or nationalist coalesce into a strong identity group. What we've got now is nothing to what its capable of.

So people that are fighting to be treated as human beings with the same equal rights as white people are terrorists? And people that are fighting fascists in the same way that fascists are fighting people are terrorists? And people with some kind of criminal record are fair game to any idiot who likes to shoot people? And Trump is obviously the BEST PRESIDENT EVAH!!!! It's people like you that give the US a bad name.

Goes to show that just because someone is a janitor doesn’t mean they aren’t educated and also just because you have a PHD doesn’t mean you will get a job in that field. I am curious to know how many refugees also have PHD’s that aren’t recognised in their new home.
