One reason more to see why "race" is a ridiculous concept. I bet that a lot of people wouldnt say that the person in the right is "white" when they see both together. Same if you see me (extremely pale and more "north european" looking) and my sister (very tan and more "mediterranean" looking)
Yup. My mother is a "white South African", yet she's got darker skin that some "Coloureds " (local term for people with mixed black and white ancestry) we know. I understand the need for "racial clarification" in medical settings since different groups of people are more prone to different diseases, but beyond that it just seems pointless.

I have to stay out of the sun because I'm so pale! I think my skin is so pale that it actually reflects the sun lol.
Lol! I say that as well! Irish heritage. Good thing with more cosmetic brands extending their colour range, I can now find quality foundation that is my skin colour, not one that is basically theatre paint used by goths. It's important to get some sun though, 10 inches of skin for 10 minutes before 10 am. I try to put my legs in the sun in the morning before 10 am. I struggle with low Vit D, and I really notice when I'm low.

It makes an even bigger difference when you compare the underside of your arm with the top of someone else's.
As a sun worshiper I've been both colors and at 71 years my skin is horrible except my face that I had to cover due to hormone brown spots. I ignored everyone and now my creepy arms have to be covered. For those of us sun worshippers who were born in the 50's this tanning made us feel so healthy and alive. Please reel it in or use sun block (it was not available to me in Europe) so you can enjoy your skin when you are older.

I laugh at the racists that hate "dark skinned people" and then they run to the tanning spa's and pay money to have dark skin. I do not even try and distinguish race, If your skin is dark black as ink... i will presume you are black, if you have skin that is the color of tissue paper with freckles, then I will presume you are white... but either way it really does not make a frickin difference!
