Everything is relative. For example, Shaq might not look tall when he's on camera next to other basketball players and Simone Biles might not seem short when you see her competing against other gymnasts but put them near each other and you'll instantly get an idea of their size.
So to broaden your understanding of the world, we at Bored Panda put together a new list of interesting comparison pictures from all sorts of different areas, including nature, technology, and social issues. It's a series we've been working on for a while too; if you like scrolling through these images, fire up our earlier publications here, here, and here. Maybe you missed some!

Effects Of Light Pollution: How The Stars Look On A Typical Night Versus A Widespread Power Outage
Just one of the reasons why I love camping so much. The sky is just amazing.
Probably the only reason I love starting work before dawn
Load More Replies...Light pollution needs to be fixed as much as air pollution, and the power saved fixing the former, would also help the latter!
You can't see the stars in London. Went to a friend's house in Sussex and he couldn't fathom why I was gazing up at the night sky. There's a movement I think to turn off all the lights globally for one night (time difference allowing) so we can truly see our sky. I'd be up for it!
poor people in the city dont know what it is like be able to see the stars. i feel sorry for them i really do.
Yes do feel sorry for me.I so wish I could see the night sky :(
Load More Replies...What can be done about light pollution? I started turning off my porch light and the night light in the kitchen. It's not creepy, as I feared it would be. But it seems like a paltry effort.
Look up Dark Sky Parks. It's darksky (dot) org. I can't post a actual link here. They are parks that preserve the darkness and you can go there to see the sky. Also they have info on what kind of lights you should have at your house. Basically the light fixture on your porch should have a cover that makes the light only shine DOWN. Shaped like an upside down bowl with a light bulb in it. Most porch lights have a glass globe on them and the light shines in ALL directions. Up, straight out, and down. --- There is more info on the website if you care to look there. --- :o)
Load More Replies...I remember the first time I saw a true dark sky in the middle of the bush in Jamaica. I nearly fell over backwards.
For those of us who live in places that are not cloudy and are far from cities (like Africa or Australia) we get to see the most incredibly clear night skies, and the Milky Way is very clearly visible and the stars look massive and bright. I feel sorry for those who have never experienced this.
If lights are shaded over the top directing the light downward it helps, so does turning down the wattage. ✨☄️💫🌙
Troy --- I like to remind people, we are not "destroying the planet", we are destroying our ability TO LIVE ON the planet. Once we have killed ourselves off, the planet will be just fine in another 10 million years or so.
Load More Replies...Ahh. What we do to the environment also affects insects and birds--among other creatures.
When NYC (and the East coast) had a blackout years ago, I stood outside, just looking at all the stars we never see here. It was incredible.
Just one of the reasons I hate exterior lighting so much. Light pollution competes with starlight in the night sky for urban residents, interferes with astronomical observatories, and, like any other form of pollution, disrupts ecosystems and has adverse health effects. The sky is an amazing place that will have you believing in God, if only you could see it...
Living in the country, the right pic is common. Sooo much better. :-)
That's a beautiful change. Too bad we can't have a power outage every night.
There was a place called squirrel hill where I grew up, it was a long clam shell road in the middle of two corn fields that led to a irrigation pond. At night you could see every star in the sky, it was pitch black out there when you turned off the car lights. If I could go back anywhere it would be right there. Sitting on the hood of the car staring up. It was beautiful
Super sad. Even though I lived in SoCal, they put restrictions in place on the types of lights businesses and cities could use outdoors and was lucky to grow up in a place that had more stars than I have ever seen since. Even today, 20 years later, seeing the night sky from there is always top of the list whenever I go home. Living within spitting distance of Palomar observatory, being a rural area, and being surrounded on all sides by large, empty mountains all conspire together to produce a spectacle in the night sky that surprises everyone who dares look up at night.
My husband took me for a midnight drive to the middle of the highway, about 75 km from either town. We just sat on the car and looked up at the clear sky. It was so bright with thousands of stars, the moon, the milkyway, I nearly wept at its beauty.
I was flying home from Miami on a very clear night and by chance looked out & up at the sky going over the Blueridge mountains. I was stunned to see how many stars & planets there are. I don't know where I thought they had gone since that's how I remembered the sky from growing up in a rural area, but it was beautiful.
Why I love living in the country. No city lights interferring with the beauty.
We need to do more night sky watching to remember we are just a small part of the universe.
I remember being able to see the Milky Way in the sky as a kid. Now I can barely see the brightest stars and planets. I've always lived in large cities but the problem is so much more pronounced now, 30 years on. My idea of a dream holiday now is to go somewhere I can see the stars...
It would be really wonderful if people would turn off their outside lights when everyone is home safe. We could all enjoy the stars a bit more.
Nice thought, but half of America can't even wear masks to finally put an end to the pandemic. Consideration of others apparently isn't "patriotic". *rolleyes*
Load More Replies...I'm visiting Kansas and the night sky is amazing! I live in the suburbs so I get to see that amber light at night.
When I first moved into my present house I bought a telescope because the night sky was so dark that star gazing was a delight. I gave the scope to my grandson a few years later because real estate agents filled almost every lot around me.
Blame evil people for light pollution and not the lights. The lights keep us safe at night.
Actually they don't. Light makes you feel safer but doesn't reduce criminal activity. For traffic it works sometimes, like crossroads, but for most streetlights there is no clear positive effect.
Load More Replies...It’s weird to think people don’t see the stars in the sky every night like I see them living on my farm.
I can't imagine how some people never saw the night sky... I could not live in the city and not be able to look at the stars, so beautiful
Can't be that widespread if the lights are still on.. Not even candlelight is that bright

Women’s Clothing Sizes Are Nonsense. Both Size 32
It is ridiculous and it’s really harmful for your self stem. The other day I saw a L T-shirt that was 1Cm wider than a xxs. Two trousers of the same size, one fit perfectly and the other didn’t pass my tights. I bought in the same store a xxL and a L that were the same size (of a normal L). I felt horrible when I needed a xxL until I measured it with the other shirt I got. It’s horrible for the self steam.

Altenburg, Germany. Before And After The Ongoing Severe Flooding Due To Excessive Rain
So much modern housing is built on ancient flood planes with zero planning during construction for bad weather. England is terrible for it, plus they stopped dredging the rivers on the say so of environmental nut-jobs which really helped flood everywhere
