Everything is relative. For example, Shaq might not look tall when he's on camera next to other basketball players and Simone Biles might not seem short when you see her competing against other gymnasts but put them near each other and you'll instantly get an idea of their size.
So to broaden your understanding of the world, we at Bored Panda put together a new list of interesting comparison pictures from all sorts of different areas, including nature, technology, and social issues. It's a series we've been working on for a while too; if you like scrolling through these images, fire up our earlier publications here, here, and here. Maybe you missed some!

Daughter’s Science Experiment. The Plants Hear Her Voice Recorded On A Loop. The One On The Far Left Hears Mean Comments, The One On The Far Right Hears Loving Comments
My goal this year is to speak life.
The plant on the right gets substantially more sunlight than the plant on the left with the shadow of the shed but sure. (That being said, research does show that the gentle vibrations of normal, calm voices can stimulate plant growth. Google it.)
Heavy metal works even better. Source: Mythbusters.
Load More Replies...Why is everyone so bitter over what a CHILD is doing? Literally cursing and accusing the kid of intentionally nurturing/neglecting certain plants. I think this is awesome and she may not be 100% there but she's got the spirit and that is something to encourage in kids. Especially girls who end up not going into STEM for this exact reason. Go back under your bridges, ya trolls.
For a truly fair experiment, she needs to have used partly-sprouted plants that all errupted at the same time, and either control the lighting or swap the pots around periodically
Plus you need a lot of replicates, plus you need to randomize them for position etc, plus you need to not-know which ones get which treatment ('double-blind') very doable with speakers.
Load More Replies...I approve any science experiments kids want to do. I guess this has been busted many times (Mythbusters did it too) but I still love the idea she did this!
This is not a controlled environment. In terms of the light conditions but also, if she knows which plant is hearing which messages, it can influence her behaviour towards those plants, for example in the way she takes care of them. This is a cool experiment but it's not a scientific one.
Yeah, sure... I can accept that we do not understand every biological mechanism, but come on... To make the difference between 'good' and 'bad' the plant would have to 1) be able to hear 2) have learned english (i presume) 3) have developped a self-conscience that can be affected by other's opinions, and so on and so on. Plants are wonderful beings, and we still can discover things about them. But enough with the pseudo-scientific bullcrap...
Naw, energy and tone is still something every living thing can feel. Saying something nice in a mean tone to a dog still makes them put their tail between their legs, so they obviously don't know spoken language but they know tone/energy, same with plants. There are studies that prove trees communicate with each other; it's not a hard leap to plants/trees receiving communications from us.
Load More Replies...The mean comments are said in an angry voice. The nice comments are said in a loving voice.
Load More Replies...You can now image how children in a negative home doesn’t do as well in class as the one in a positive home.
I feel bad for that poor plant on the left. Everyone just wants some love!
I loved the Mythbusters take on this experiment. In their case, the one that got death metal 24/7 grew the largest. URRRGHHHHH. 🤘😈🤘
They also paid a lot of attention to keep other factors (like light and water) controlled.
Load More Replies...Yall adults in the comments picking apart a child's science fair experiment is kinda sad .. Obviously it's not going to be in a controlled environment with multiple replications. Science fairs aren't about whether or not the experiment is worthy of a Nobel prize, they're meant to encourage creative thinking
This is amazing! But as Andy Acceber said the sunlight is an important role to. :)
If this were truly the case, my Mom would never have kept a plant alive in her house. But some of hers are over 20 years old.
I've seen this same post on a BP page about people being stupid and the caption said something to the point of 'God is Real'.
Very real, and well documented, and multiply reproduced study results. It's no joke.... But guess what, folks?.... Children are the same. [Think about it]
So the one in the middleis confused on whether to die or go on living a stunted reality?
You should try it. But make sure it's good reggae.
Load More Replies...I'm taking care of a plant in secret until Christmas and I always speak really nice to them for this reason. When I got them they didn't have roots (so I named them root, lol.) And they have roots now and I congratulate Root every day for it! Good job Root!
That's silly. One is obviously getting more sun. The one in the middle gets no comments & it's growing, but obviously getting less sun.
Try this for yourself and see what happens silly.
Load More Replies...I have seen cases where hard rock is played by one group of plants and they gravitate away from the sound, vs. classical music whereby the plants move toward the sound.
There are other variables not being accounted for in this experiment.
The one in the middle is non-commital and shy hence the term wallflower.
I just read some of the comments and I can't believe the animosity about a child's test.
Same thing has been done with water. Japanese scientists put signs on water to describe the feeling and then put a drop of the water under a microscope to see the effect of the water. Ugly pixilated water with the sign Hatred and snowflake water with Joy sign. His name escapes me cut google him.
my grandpa lived in old peoples home - he spoke to his plants every day - they flowered all year - even in the middle of the winter
I would move them around on a daily basis so the light is distributed evenly.
And then we have vegans... Who think plants have no feelings, only animals can feel pain... Take that vegans...
This in no way provides any evidence that plants can feel pain. While vibrations from sound could potentially affect plant growth, plants don't have the nervous system needed to feel pain.
Load More Replies...I think the tone of voice is significant, not the words. When my babies would cry and I was frustrated, my Mom told me to sing to them in sweet tones, but use all the frustrated swear words I wanted to get my feelings out. The sweet TONE of my voice calmed them, the words only mattered to me.
or the seed, or the plant position, or the fact that she wants it to happen
Load More Replies...No they can’t. Many experiments have debunked this but the girl is not a researcher. She is probably unaware that the plants aren’t kept in the same conditions or it’s pure luck. That’s why you need to do an experiments with 100s or more subjects and not one of each.
Load More Replies...This is so stupid. Even if plants would have a hearing sense and a way to process that information like a plant brain, which they dont but sure let's go with it. Why would they understand human language and know the difference between a mean or a nice comment.
Or she will, because her curiosity was encouraged.

Women’s Clothing Sizes Are Nonsense. Both Size 32
It is ridiculous and it’s really harmful for your self stem. The other day I saw a L T-shirt that was 1Cm wider than a xxs. Two trousers of the same size, one fit perfectly and the other didn’t pass my tights. I bought in the same store a xxL and a L that were the same size (of a normal L). I felt horrible when I needed a xxL until I measured it with the other shirt I got. It’s horrible for the self steam.
