Everything is relative. For example, Shaq might not look tall when he's on camera next to other basketball players and Simone Biles might not seem short when you see her competing against other gymnasts but put them near each other and you'll instantly get an idea of their size.

So to broaden your understanding of the world, we at Bored Panda put together a new list of interesting comparison pictures from all sorts of different areas, including nature, technology, and social issues. It's a series we've been working on for a while too; if you like scrolling through these images, fire up our earlier publications here, here, and here. Maybe you missed some!

That is really bad care from the shelter. Not only because the dog likely has a lot of tangles in the hair that can be a problem. But also because more people would adopt their dogs if they look cleaner

For anyone considering this, do a little research before you decide where to donate. Some of the "charities" actually charge really high prices for the people who need them. My family discovered this when my sister developed alopecia universalis that 9 years old.

The plant on the right gets substantially more sunlight than the plant on the left with the shadow of the shed but sure. (That being said, research does show that the gentle vibrations of normal, calm voices can stimulate plant growth. Google it.)

Why is everyone so bitter over what a CHILD is doing? Literally cursing and accusing the kid of intentionally nurturing/neglecting certain plants. I think this is awesome and she may not be 100% there but she's got the spirit and that is something to encourage in kids. Especially girls who end up not going into STEM for this exact reason. Go back under your bridges, ya trolls.

For a truly fair experiment, she needs to have used partly-sprouted plants that all errupted at the same time, and either control the lighting or swap the pots around periodically

Plus you need a lot of replicates, plus you need to randomize them for position etc, plus you need to not-know which ones get which treatment ('double-blind') very doable with speakers.

This is not a controlled environment. In terms of the light conditions but also, if she knows which plant is hearing which messages, it can influence her behaviour towards those plants, for example in the way she takes care of them. This is a cool experiment but it's not a scientific one.

Cool but switch the recordings and see if it makes the happy plant change also could be a bad seed run the test in 14 plants see what happens 7 of each type. If you get 7 plants that grew a lot and 7 that didn't .. it's impressive

Yeah, sure... I can accept that we do not understand every biological mechanism, but come on... To make the difference between 'good' and 'bad' the plant would have to 1) be able to hear 2) have learned english (i presume) 3) have developped a self-conscience that can be affected by other's opinions, and so on and so on. Plants are wonderful beings, and we still can discover things about them. But enough with the pseudo-scientific bullcrap...

Naw, energy and tone is still something every living thing can feel. Saying something nice in a mean tone to a dog still makes them put their tail between their legs, so they obviously don't know spoken language but they know tone/energy, same with plants. There are studies that prove trees communicate with each other; it's not a hard leap to plants/trees receiving communications from us.

Yall adults in the comments picking apart a child's science fair experiment is kinda sad .. Obviously it's not going to be in a controlled environment with multiple replications. Science fairs aren't about whether or not the experiment is worthy of a Nobel prize, they're meant to encourage creative thinking

No they can’t. Many experiments have debunked this but the girl is not a researcher. She is probably unaware that the plants aren’t kept in the same conditions or it’s pure luck. That’s why you need to do an experiments with 100s or more subjects and not one of each.
