We’ve all dreamed of finding a lost treasure box when we were kids. As adults, finding a lost note is both a blessing and a curse, ‘cause you probably will have to lose something sometime soon to even out the karma, they say.
But this time we’re talking lost and found stuff, objects, and places with a much bigger “wowzer” factor. Imagine yourself coming across an alligator skull while hiking, or spotting a tiny perfect seashell in your salt. Some discoveries are cute and fun, while others are plain scary and mind-bending.

Mostly date from the 1700s-1900s. The oldest is a coin from 1621. I’ve got some from countries that no longer exist. I’m still researching.
According to Tate, Picasso was the originator of the found art movement. “From 1912, he began to incorporate newspapers and such things as matchboxes into his cubist collages, and to make his cubist constructions from various scavenged materials.”
Essentially, artists would modify the found objects as minimally as they could, or sometimes leave them as they were. The idea is based on repurposing an object which has not been designed for artistic purposes into a piece that’s deliberately placed in an artistic context.

My neighbour's cat used to visit us a few times a day as well. Maxy passed away 8 years ago. I miss him lots. On a brighter note, I came home one summer day, and found four neighbourhood cats lounging on my lawn. They all had homes, but they just congregated here. A man passed by, looked at the cats, and then, looked at me. "They're not mine," I said. His reaction was "Sure, lady."
I came home to find four cats, sitting and facing each other by my front door like they were having a meeting around an invisible table. I felt bad for having to break it up (was walking my dogs).

My neighbors cat moved in with me 8 years ago. They declawed her and kicked her out of the house and would not take her to the vet when she was injured because she could not protect herself. Jerks...so I took her to my vet and got her fixed right up and she just started coming in through my doggie door and eventually just came "home" every night. It was never spoken of with the neighbor and I used to wonder how they felt about their cat disliking them enough that she moved in with their neighbor. When I bought a house across town she moved with me. I put her on my pet insurance and had her chipped and she is a happy sweet kitty living her best life!

My last three cats (present one included) love to go visiting. I enjoy hearing stories of these visits.The cats care a lot for their human friends, and become quite depressed if the people move without saying goodbye.
We have a white male cat we have called Lord Snowdon. He visits every day for a good feed
We used to watch our cat go over two yards to sit by a screen door on our neighbors sun porch. Eventually their cat would come out and they would greet each other through the screen, run beside each other on the porch side. It was almost a daily event. Their cat was not allowed out so ours would visit and wait. If he wasn't close to the porch but he heard the other cat come out he'd sprint over to say hi.
What nice neighbors who don’t know who the cat belongs to, but wants to.
Most outside cats who have a home will always select a 'second home' they are really smart..
i did this with a cat that visited my yard a couple of times, though for a different reason. we have dogs, and they've killed both cats and groundhogs dumb enough to be in the yard. the visitor didn't have a collar, so i made one out of paracord and put a note in a ziploc bag taped to the cord, pleading to the owner that they please 1) put a collar on their cat and 2) not let her outside. the cat stopped visiting, and i found the paracord and note loose in the yard, so i have no idea if i didn't knot it well or if the owner figured out who did it and threw it over the fence, but i hope the cat is okay.
The story is exactly how I met and became best friend with my neighbor. She put a collar on my cat. Lol 😂 I have always been known as the cat lady, started in my teens. They have been coming to my house, sometimes on the upside of 6-10 at a time. They seem to always know that I’ll take care of them, love them. One day I came home to bad news from my neighbor, my mixed Siamese Lizzie was hit in from of my house. She told me how weird it was to watch, for several hours, all the cats in the neighborhood sitting around her body, staring. Hours. It tore me up. And proved how much animals are like humans. I just adore cats. Finding the note....such a Beautiful story.

When I was a kid I found an old coin with a David’s star on it. I thought that it was not valuable but kept it anyway. Some years ago my partner saw it and convinced me to clean it with cola. It has a date. It’s a moorish coin from the 13th century.
For future reference, you want to do a very minimal amount of cleaning of coins. Collectors prefer the patina and grime. Soap and water is preferable if you want to get it clean enough to see what it actually is.

Seeing the bright purple and pink grasshoppers (as well as the purple roly poly) makes me wonder how something like that is possible. My best guess would be a genetic mutation of some kind?
I bought my house in western Massachusetts in 1997. My daughter found an old railroad tie, some railroad track hardware, and a pile of bricks of a color native to this area. That's how we discovered that our property was a brickyard back in the day. After that, it was a campground...we found the old metal sign identifying it. Also, we have a large brook running through our front yard. She discovered that someone in the early part of the 20th Century built up the banks of the brook using layers of glass bottles interspersed with layers of soil. Odd, old bottles keep turning up from time to time, including a milk bottle for a 100yo local dairy.
Surprising number of valuable looking rings found by divers. Lost by swimmers or thrown by angry girlfriends/wives?
Lost during sunscreen or suntan oil application maybe?

I used to hike a lot with my parents when I was a kid.We hiked through Yugoslav mountains where some big WWII battles occured.One of them was Zelengora where I found a German soldier helmet .It ended up in my hometown museum
I once found amazing sand sculptures on a beach in NC two years ago while on vacation. On the last day there, we looked at them for the final time, it looked like either the tide came it, it rained, or some kids came, but they all were wrecked, i know they don't last forever but I felt bad because it looked like they took forever.
In Köln Germany it's often found bombs from the war. I loved to see all the nice stuff people found.
