I would have planted trees around the perimeter so they can’t all look in to the house, and gives them something nicer to look at!

In my hometown there is a littte old drugstore whose building is swallowed up by a huge departmentstore. They refused to sell their propperty so the departmentstore was build around and over them. Now the departmentstore has gone bust, while the little drugstore has been thriving since 1849.

This house certainly does not stick out like a "sore thumb"... Trees and shrubbery would be nice though, lots of pure lawn is evil.

Can't agree more. Could be a little flora and fauna sanctuary. (Not really meaning sanctuary, but just... the opposite of sore thumb.. a little gem!)

What's going on with this collective allergy to trees/vegetation/wildlife??? What kind of irreversible disaster does this civilization need to realize that we are living a parallel life to the only thing that keeps us alive: planet Earth. As much as i simpatize with this resistance to asimilate into this exploitative urban design i don't sre anything more than self indulgence and spite here. Altogether sad

There's something like this not far from me. Whole housing scheme and there's a barely visible gap between two houses, you drive through and after a while you reach a farmhouse, it's a working farm hidden by a housing scheme, amazing!

I used to change the height of the mower blades and cut words into my front yard lawn. Couldn't see it from ground level but standing on the roof, it was sensationally funny! This family should do that, too. Looks like their surrounding neighbors got suckered into zero lot lines and will never have the fun of open spaces.

I might be an a*s here but why not use that land for gardening. Plant some effing trees, have a garden and grow your own vegetables. Judging from the lawn maintenance, there is no shortage of water there.

Given that it looks like I could jump from one house to the next on the roof, I'd say they made the right choice. I'd also build a fence and plant many trees and shrubs.

Much as I'd love my house I couldn't live feeling as if every thing I did was visible from all sides by other people. I'd have a forest around the perimeter with shrubs and a solid fence as well.

The google maps view has the streets in but no houses yet. The developer must've been so frustrated. And The Ponds officials will probably do their best to encourage the owner to get out. His taxes are sure to go up with the increased value of the surrounding land.

My anxiety level would be through the roof if I lived there. I would feel like I was on display and everyone was watching me all the time. I would have to plant trees or get my hands on some alien cloaking technology. Kudos to them for not being a sell out and sticking to their guns.

I really like how conceited the developers were in as they assumed they're going to get the property no matter what and designed the street grid accordingly, so now you have nine streets that just stop at the property line instead of going through... And these people were offered $50 million but still refused to sell, so more power to them.

There was an old woman who refused to sell her property for a shopping center development; so they built it around her, just like in UP. She befriended one of the construction workers and wound up leaving him the house.

To find out more about the “What The Crazy House” project, Bored Panda reached out to the creator behind it, Robyn from Ohio. “I’m married with 2 kids and I work part time at a shoe store,” she told us. Robyn said that she has always loved to look at houses. Once, she saw a space bedroom which became her first post. “It was unbelievably wild and I thought that I see weird stuff in the houses I look at all the time.”

That’s how she came up with an idea to put them all in one place and start the page. “On a whim one day, I made Whatthecrazyhouse. I don’t even think I remember how I came up with the name! It was just a split moment decision,” the creator said and added that she started “What The House” back in February, 2019 but she really didn’t get a following until this past year.

When asked how she’d describe her audience, Robyn said that they’re like her: “fun and snarky.” She added: “I’m proud to say they are nice and funny. I’ve never had a fight break out. Everyone is just here to laugh and make fun of stuff in a lighthearted manner.” Robyn really loves this page and she is super proud to run it. “It’s all for fun!,” she said.

The creator said that she “hates '80s decor so she posts some of that.” “I am constantly seeing things I’ve never thought possible and that shock me. And then I think that someone did this… on purpose?! What?!!” she wondered.

We also asked Robyn what was the craziest house she has ever seen, and she said that “it’s a tie between the murder house and the cat poster house where cat pictures were EVERYWHERE. I mean it: they were all over the bathroom and kitchen and walls and ceiling. Just cats.”

When asked what could be the motives for why people design and build such crazy houses, Robyn said that this is how they express themselves or that they’re simply weird. “We are all a little weird, but sometimes things just go wacky and we get the wild things I post.”
