Yep this is true. No one can earn a billion dollars by working, but you can earn a billion dollars by making money off of other people

The Inhumans of Late Capitalism page (not to be confused with the Humans of Late Capitalism social media accounts which is a similar but entirely different horse entirely) has over 178.6k followers, all eagerly waiting for the next juicy post making fun of our dystopian everyday lives.

As many of you have probably realized by now, capitalism is far from a perfect system. But what’s the alternative? Does one even exist? Anyone who’s ever opened up a history book knows that communism isn’t an alternative—it’s just a more brutal dystopia that resulted in the deaths of millions of people. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

However, things might not be as grim nowadays as we think. For instance, Paul Mason writes in The Guardian that we might be entering the postcapitalist era without even noticing it. The forces driving this are information technology, the rise of the sharing economy, and new ways of working. Mason’s point of view is refreshing because he paints a bright and sunny picture of the future, instead of one where we’re all doomed and fighting global warming, zombies, and the plague on all fronts.

In our county, it's not a mistake. With the China Tariffs in effect, China is not taking our recyclables anymore. So as a cheaper alternative, our county either burns or buries it. Our county is not the exception, rather the rule, these days....

I don't think you can put two bags if there's nothing in the middle holding the bags.

This very common. They want the illusion of being socially responsible, not to actually be socially responsible.

I have sad news for you: in all likelihood all the stuff you put in a recycle bin will have its valuable materials like aluminum removed, and then the rest of it is thrown away with the garbage.

Yes, I remember a school where the student newspaper staff discovered that all their 'recycling' was being dumped in with the regular garbage, and they ran an expose and got it fixed. Could be the same school.

This is happening daily in Canada. This is the educated and enlightened population of Canada! This is the sad truth of recycling in Canada. Not enough Canadians give a damn. I sure hope your country can boast a better recycling track record than Canada's. I am Canadian. I do recycle but sometimes wonder why I bother. sob

Why even bother with the separate holes if you do this? It would be easier just to cut one big hole, if you don't bother putting in separate bags!

pretty common. I have seen dumpsters that have 2 covers- one side recycle the other side trash with no barrier in between.

Yeah, stupidest implementation, ever. Why not just phone it in? I suspect that topper with the two holes was originally made for a can with two half-moon-shaped inserts that would have a bag in each, which the topper fit tight enough to that there was little enough space between the can and top so the two streams wouldn't mix. Like the team on Ghostbusters would say: "DON't cross the streams...!"

We have two types of seperated bins at work, red lid for rubbish and yellow for recycled. When they empty them, they take out the. Thick plastic bag from each bin, tie it and put it on the trolley then put in a new black plastic bag and put the lid on the bin, the full bags, all of them , are then taken to the One dumpster out back.

People thought that Everything Else means the same as the left side maybe? Or the management just forgot to put a separate bin/colored bag in each hole?

Since much of our recycling has no where to go, it does end up in a landfill. Plants shut down, or can't handle what they gave. Once plastics are processed, there are few places that will remanufacture it. And recycled plastic can only be reused and recycled one time. After that it is too brittle.

I have to believe that this atrocity is worth going to the top to complain. It's deceptively suggesting that the business where the receptacle is located supports recycling and the environment. And this idea may just influence the consumer in an undeserved "positive" fashion.

This is the laziness of the employees who work there, the can is supposed to have two bags not one.

Depends on where it is. In Edmonton, Alberta, many places are like this. It's so people won't complain that they can't sort it themselves. But all waste in Edmonton gets sent to a sorting facility and sorted there. Creates lots of jobs and takes away the effects of the idiots who just throw everything in the trash regardless.

Is this in the USA? Because I don’t know a better illustration of how S****Y the USA is about recycling. Our single-stream waste collection systems treat reusable materials like garbage. This is why China stopped taking our waste.

The bags just go to be sorted. The recyclable stuff is still recycled.

You’re a complete pushover if you think every bit of plastic or cardboard you put in a recycling container actually gets recycled. It’s takes way too much energy (fossil fuel) and money to recycle. But keep listening to those big news channels instead of doing your own research. Nothing like being told what your opinion is by a TV guy.

According to Mason, information technology has reduced the need for work, blurred the “edges between work and free time,” and “loosened the relationship between work and wages.” The amount we have to work will further diminish as automation increases. But that’ll still take a while because our way of thinking has yet to catch up with the power of robotics.

Mason also states that we’re “seeing the spontaneous rise of collaborative production: goods, services, and organizations are appearing that no longer respond to the dictates of the market and the managerial hierarchy. The biggest information product in the world—Wikipedia—is made by volunteers for free, abolishing the encyclopedia business and depriving the advertising industry of an estimated $3bn a year in revenue.”

In other words, we’re seeing various new forms of work, ownership, and businesses that will (in the long run) change our society as we know it. But whether or not it’ll be a postcapitalist society or something else entirely, we’ll find out in a few decades.

Hmm it's good to set boundaries for your kids en give them a sense of responsibility. But not in the way you are proposing mr Coach-dad wich sons and daughters are probably real sad en feel no self worth because you give them the feeling they are never good enough for your approval.
