While we all need a fair share of news to keep up to date with the world around us, the truth is, we don’t always benefit from that emotionally. Quite often the opposite happens. What we read or watch or hear may upset us, leaving us anxious and irritated for the rest of the day.

Sometimes it’s the sheer facts that trigger us negatively, like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or the dreadful plastic pollution in the oceans. And other times, it’s not the facts but rather the presentation of how one thing or another is told to us.

The headlines, for example, are notorious for inflating and misrepresenting things and we always have to take them with a pinch of salt. And even if we do, they may still frustrate us, as they did to people on the Trashy community on Reddit. Below we wrapped up the headlines that, according to people, have maddened them the most.

Nestle has long been a James Bond style truly evil corporation with a cute logo instead if the more common spider or squid imagery. Remember the Bond movie where Blofeld buys up land and plans to re route water supplies so natives go thirsty and had to buy it back at ridiculous prices? Nestle actually did something like that.

Nestle did go out of their way to make babies in Africa dependent on their free formula and then once they were weaned on to it they left them to starve to death... So what's slavery reporting as a sin when compared to baby killer

Is it true that this killed babies also during, due to no access to clean water?

Slavery and child labor in the cocoa industry is happening in West Africa, the Ivory Coast and Brazil. Here is a link to inform yourself about it and ways you can help. https://foodispower.org/human-labor-slavery/slavery-chocolate/

Look into how they marketed baby formula to African mothers (Behind the Bastards did a deep dive into it). Nestlé really is a super villain.

Nestle is a piece of s**t company and I don’t buy their s**t and wont on purpose. That being said they do own a bunch of common/popular brands as well including Pellegrino. So it’s hard to not accidentally support them cause they hide behind so many other companies as well.

I looked on the internet for all the companies they own. So much stuff that has nothing to do with chocolate. I made a list for when I’m shopping.

Why don't people mind that Disney and Nike do this, too? Disney has been on WHOs list for decades as the @1 abuser and user of child labor (all their clothing is made overseas. ALL of it) Do you have Disney + ? Then you're part pf the problem

Ever notice how wealthy Switzerland is? This is one reason, reason #2 is Nazi gold, and # 3 South African Blood diamonds. The Nazis raped Europe of its gold and art. Traded the hold for diamonds, because they are so much easier to transport. Think Joe Pesci s wife in Casino who had diamonds hidden in her hair bun

SO SAD ... but, isn't it up to the company, that the reports won't read as bad as they need to cost customers? It's not that they're opposing being accused while innocent. They know they're guilty. They just don't want to bear the result.

Some African countries are talking about abandoning cacao (which takes several years to mature and only produces nuts for a few years) with actual food agriculture to ease hunger. I would totally be happy to eat less chocolate so other people don't starve.

Well, it's not a lie. We have cheap stuff because of slavery. Ban the slavery and products will become much more expesnive - and then customers will moce to cheaper options. The 'fairphone' costs about double the amount of money you get for a phone with similar specs. Let's not kid ourselves: We profit from slavery, we just don't see it on our doorsteps.

It's similar to minimum wage wages. McDonald's is "concerned" that the customer will have to pay more if their workers get a living wage. 🤬

Trying to take the positive out of this, at least Nestle are using slave labour to cut costs. If they were doing it just for kicks they would be a different level of complete and utter corporate c####.

When my son was 3, he managed with one swing of his arm to knock multiple bottles of lotion off a low shelf causing one to crack open and spill lotion all over. I was very much watching my kid. He wasn’t goofing off. Genuine accident. We (he helped, kinda) put the non-broken ones away and we went up to costumer service to pay for the broken lotion. It was a weird conversation. Me: My son broke this lotion. I think I’m supposed to pay for it. Employee: Do you want the lotion? M: No. E: Then you don’t have to pay for it. I told him which aisle so they could clean it up and we continued shopping. You are responsible for your kids and their actions and mistakes. Our family phrase is: Look with your eyes, not your hands. when we’re in public, at stores, etc. I didn’t understand why we didn’t pay for the lotion. Felt guilty. I very much don’t understand this headline, but I also don’t know what I’d do if my son broke something I couldn’t afford to pay for.
