No internet. No neighbors. Just miles and miles of trees, hills, and lakes. Sounds so relaxing, doesn't it? We all sometimes need to unwind, and nature can provide the perfect environment for it. Peaceful yet engaging. All you need is a place to sleep. Sure, a tent might do but if you own a patch of land, why not put a cabin on it?

If you're up for the challenge or simply want to drool at gorgeous places from around the world, then this subreddit is what you need. Created in 2012, this online community unites 321k people, and has plenty of dreamy woodsy abodes for every taste; big or small, luxurious or simple, it's there.

Here are some of the all-time most-upvoted ones.

I’ve Wanted To Build A Cottage In The Woods For Years, And Today My Dream Was Finally Met

I’ve Wanted To Build A Cottage In The Woods For Years, And Today My Dream Was Finally Met

AwkwardMethod Report

Recently, cabins have been increasingly more important to people. Take Getaway for example. It's a mini-vacation concept that has grown in the past six years from a few tiny rental cabins outside of Boston to 581 custom-built cabins sprinkled across 15 locations in the United States. And over the past year, Getaway's cabins have been nearly 100% occupied.

"We created a business that is socially distant for a different reason, which is to give people the time and space to disconnect and recharge," Jon Staff, Getaway's founder and CEO, told CNN Travel. "But the fact of the matter is, when we picked our heads up from the craziness [of locking down] it was like, 'oh look, our business is cabins in the woods, 100 to 250 feet apart from any other cabin in the woods, there's no check-in desk, there's no bar, there's no restaurant, there's no group fire pit.'"

There's nothing you don't need.

Unlike at hotels, where operators are "agnostic" about how guests spend their time, Staff said, "we care very much about how you spend your time, and hopefully it's doing nothing". Or getting back in touch with your partner or your kids, staring into the campfire, or simply hiking.

"Getaway has always been about disconnecting from technology and disconnecting from being scheduled and disconnecting from commitments that are scheduled at least by the hour and maybe by the 15 minutes," Staff said.

Judging by pics, so are the cabins featured in this subreddit.

Why all the down votes to a reasonable question by Thomas? The definition of bonfire suggests it's open air but not contained, 'loose' piles of logs, gathered autumn leaves, campfires, etc. Also sometimes celebratory - Guy Fawkes etc. Maybe fire pit fires are just 'fire'?
